Since July I’ve written about the over-dependence we have on Kris Commons as a creative player. He’s pretty much our only option, and if he’s not fancied, injured, suspended or just off-form, we look like a team full of energy but without a key to open the door.
It may be that Ronny doesn’t figure on having a classic No. 10 in his team, and it’s more than possible that we won’t play one against European heavyweights, but against packed SPFL defences, we need someone who can create space in dangerous areas.
As we mentioned last month, some years ago Celtic reportedly looked at Bosnian international, Semir Stilic, while he was at Lech Poznan. His star faded before a journey through Ukrainian and Turkish football before he returned to Poland with Wisla Krakow 12 months ago on an 18 month contract. Since then he’s been a sensation and has kept Wisla in touch with the top of the table.
He’s refused a new contract offer from Wisla and is subject to a bid from Dinamo Zagreb, thought to be in the region of €250k. He’s likely to be on circa €2k per week. We’ve scouted the player, he’s soon out of contract, going cheap, on low wages, on form and we’re short of what he can give.
This is the kind of player Dinamo Zagreb pick up for buttons and enables them to compete as effectively as they did against Celtic with a fraction of our budget. He has the making of an effective January signing.

Watching Motherwell is unreal, the could play forever and not score! Aberdeen are solid enough but the way Motherwell are applying themselves as the home team is so poor.

Agree we cannot bow – but any business ( unfortunately, we are a business) is required to make an assessment of risk. The board will have been reminded of risks in no uncertain terms. They have to be smart about how & when make any stand.
As I have already said, things are changing quickly, there may be no need to do or say anything prior to the game.
We are not guaranteed to reach the LC Final but have a decent chance; imagine how sweet it would feel to release the ‘not in our name Doncaster statement’ as League Cup finalists.

I don’t believe we are loosing £10m a year. It’s our CEO who said it , probably as some kind of justification for our silence and lack of investment in our squad.
Think he announced it just prior to us making 5 loan signings.
I agree , we need to invest this window and get it right as this will be our CL qualifier team.

Really not sure what you want Celtic to do without being hauled up for bringing the game into disrepute.
On the interweb we can say pretty much anything without any need to be accountable or worry about the implications on our responsibilities and obligations.
The team is misfiring, attendances are down and things would not be so grim for many if the team was in the CL and knocking six goals past opposition in every league game. Since we’re neither, the cloud of despondency infects many so that nothing, NOTHING, the club does is right.
Personally, I can’t subscribe to that, so I remain an inveterate HC or whatever the current euphemism is.
Just a personal position, but one that I am fine with.

Get this guy Stilic. Paul67 is right. Legia would sign for sure if not his sin. When he was leaving Lech Poznan, he was caught on the camera singing wrong song about Legia. Poor guy did not know we were making steps to get him. Very useful playmaker, intelligent, mature now, with eyes around his head.
