Dedryck after his MVP performance and Craig

1282

Appropriate appreciation is due to Dedryk Boyata for his MVP performance on Wednesday. He scored the goal that won the points, could have scored more and made the most impressive defensive intervention of the game.

If scouts were in the Celtic Park stand watching, he did all he could to entice an offer, but a sample size of one game is not enough to validate a change in form for me.

Brendan has a big selection decision to make for Hearts on Sunday. You could argue he’s got the best from Patrick Roberts by bringing him on as a substitute in Celtic’s last four games, the most recent three of which the player considerably lifted the Celtic performance. Patrick will be wondering what he needs to do to get a start.

Chelsea want to sign Craig Gordon? No surprise there, they did sign Magnus Hedman a year after he left Celtic, after all. Craig is playing well and a reliable cog in an effective defensive wheel. But you know me. This far off the qualifiers, it’s all about the price as far as I’m concerned.

Everyone has a price, to think otherwise is to deny the future exists.

I think BR obviously knew what he was getting when signing Kolo, always good to get influential players in the dressing room and if Toure’s influence us helping Dedreyk & co all the better, also think when Kolo was in the team it helped Broony as well, BR is ruthless and am sure Kolo knew what his role would be

Re-Ambition, If Celtic Plc were 100% committed to ambition we would have our sights set on a Treble and wouldn’t entertain any talk of selling CG mid-season. The SPFL looks secure (fingers crossed) but our record in cups… etc… One off games, MIB, injuries etc.

Unless BR knows something we don’t or CG has spat out the dummy it would appear to be typical of the Plc arrogance/incompetence.

  5. Received 3 pieces of great news yesterday. Firstly, daughter number 3, the one who’s coming to Lisbon with me, was offered a production gig on the new series of Shetland…and was given time off to go to Lisbon. Secondly, received special postal delivery from said daughter with new Lisbon T-shirt, ( the number 67 bus one), the new Lisboa wallet ( think that’s a hint to fill it) and tickets to the Celtic Soul film at the GFT in February – has anyone seen it, trailer looks brilliant, haven’t noticed any talk about it here on CQN. Oh, and thirdly, found out that Brendan & I have at least one thing in common. What a great time to be a Tim.

I would say that CG has the usual profile for a Celtic keeper, good, but not brilliant.

Most keepers hit a bad patch thats the nature of the game.

I dont think he is any better or worse than a number of Celtic keepers.

My concern, is whether he would prefer not playing for Chelsea(benched) to being first choice for Celtic.

If he wants to talk to Chelsea, we should sell him…..and buy a keeper who wants to play for Celtic.

Regarding discussion on the previous article. Somebody gave an excuse to Ribbentrop /Molotov pact and forgets to mention that the Communist Russia fought hand in hand with Nazi Germany against the nations in Europe. Just to buy time? Interesting. Nazi Germany invaded Poland on 1 September 1939 from the West. Communist Russia attacked Poland on 17 September 1939. Time of slaughter of whole villages and towns. 250 000 Polish soldiers taken captive, then gone away to the Stalags in the East of Russia. War crimes including shooting out 280 soldiers and officers in Sarny and other . 24 000 Polish officers, professors shot at the back of their heads in Katyn in Spring 1940.More than 1 million civilians, Polish, Jewish, old, children, pregnant women, in 1 month long way in the cattle wagons to Siberia. Not many of them survived that trip. All until Germany attacked Russia in Spring 1941. National valuables, museums taken away to Russia or stolen by Russian soldiers.

Poland was not the only victim of the Ribbentrop Molotov pact. Russia attacked Finland on 30 November 1939. Facts are easy to find. I’m sorry for that post but I could not stand Russia Today “truth”.

    ———————————————————————

Of course, a large percentage of the Jews who were persecuted were actually Polish. The Polish people have a lot to be agrieved about towards both Germany and Russia.

    How you doing?

My take on our recent keepers ….

Big Fraser … exceptionally good keeper. Haven’t seen as much of him since he moved south, so hard to gauge his development/return from injury (which seemed a bad one) … still young and some development needed, but top, top keeper. Solid, and mature beyond his years. For some reason, doesn’t seem as favoured in England as some others, who I dont think we nearly as good as him.

Boruc ….LOVED him! Mad.. hated the zombies..;.and, once his day, brilliant!!! But, could be a bit erratic, and seemed to have lost his way a bit off the pitch (which impacted his performance on the pitch). Was really pleased to see him do well after he left Celtic. On his day, more spectacular that FF, but FF edges him for his consistency (which I like in a keeper).

Gordon … when he joined Celtic, I was surprised how well he played that first season (always an unknown with the injury record he had)… last season, he lost his way (but not the only player last year that did), and this season, not quite back to the highs of his first season, but still pretty good …

I cant remember having three such good keepers in a row in my time …. (no slight to the HG intended, but he was a bit before my time).

  14. The Green Man says SACK THE Board on

    The Green Man ….

One of the things CQN has taught me is that it is just a business for the Club …. so, no reason to think that players wont adopt the same mindset … loyalty in football seems to be a virtue from days long past.

and, at least now, I am confident that BR has a decent eye for players (at Pool, I wasnt always so sure), so if someone goes, someone else will take his place ….

Thought it was quite interesting to see Gamboa subbed and boyata moved to right back on Wed.

Looked to me that Brendan wanted the height at right back because Gamboa couldn’t win the high balls kicked to him by CG when defence were being pressed.

CG would be mad not to speak to chelsea.

Celtic would be mad not to consider an offer.

CG, until recently, was getting it tight for some dodgy performances.

He’s been superb for Celtic, but who would have thought there would be a chance to realise £3 million or so for a 34 year-old keeper?

Like most, I expected him to run down his contract and either be kept on a short-term extension or go into coaching.

Suddenly, there’s millions on the table. Christmas for Celtic. Take it, reinvest in a younger prospect or two – perhaps we’ll uncover another Barrie MacKay?

I would punt CG asap IMO he is a bombscare every time a cross ball comes in he is flappin at it. He is a good shot stopper but I think we could get much better for the dosh we would get for him. Still waiting on your email mr rodders

Hitler himself contributed greatly to Germany’s defeat.

The narcissistic sociopath thought that he knew better than his brilliant generals.

Credit him with Blitzkrieg obviously – Dunkirk is a mystery as to why he let the English off the hook – many historians believe that he didn’t want war with England.

See once he started getting involved in major decisions during operation Barbarossa – his generals were horrified and the war was lost.

Hitler would never hear tell of even a tactical retreat – his ego wouldn’t allow it – a blatant disregard for human life, even the lives of his own people.

He was a great leader, no doubt about it – but one of the worst military commanders in history.
