Deila and Hutter bedding into their new teams

1385

There are parallels between Salzburg and Celtic.  After an outstanding season Salzburg lost their coach, Roger Schmidt, in May to Bayer Leverkusen, appointing Adolf Hutter (commentators beware), who previously managed Austrian Bundesliga club Grodig and is largely unknown outside Austria.

Unlike Ronny Deila, Hutter has not tried to change Salzburg’s system, but the period of transformation has been blamed for Salzburg failing to overcome Malmo in the Champions League play-off round (Malmo taxed Juventus in Turin last night before two second half Tevez goals settled things).  New instructions, new training techniques and, in some cases, new personnel present challenges.

Ronny has had a few false starts but the return of Scott Brown at the weekend, the return to form of Kris Commons, who will surely start, and the addition of Scepovic, Tonev and Wakaso to the squad give reason for confidence.

We’ve had over 3,000 responses so far to the survey on Celtic fans, who they are, where they came from, and what their views are.  The results will give an excellent insight into this time in our history.  If you’ve not had a chance to leave your mark yet, please do so here (only your first submission counts).

  1. MWD thanks for your response my point was not to sabotage the survey but to highlight how easily it can be manipulated. I therefore will have no faith in the outcome. Hail Hail Hebcelt

See above, believe what you want to believe, I do. I also credit different sources with different credence, but when we are being warned from so many international sources to be careful for what we wish for, only a fool would dismiss it without some consideration as scaremongering.

After all, what have all these countries heads of states and companies CEOs’ got to gain by even bothering to comment?

See that word ‘tarrifs’ that word could be defined devastation… or just another challange if you chose so.

If I take a flag to a game it has always been a Saltire for the past twenty years. Took a wee bit of stick for doing it over the years, but such is life.

  8. Sftb,

There will be an awakening. Will it be an awakening from a bad dream? Or a wakening up to face a nightmare reality?

Unless you voted in the ’79 referendum, you have never voted in an election like this.

For some it’s a Cliff Edge, for others it’s a Rainbow.

I fear that it will get worse, whether its a No vote or a Yes vote. The influence of International Capital and The Establishment does not stop at Border Controls. We don’t get rid of Tories because we imagine they are all English.

Foretelling the future, though, has a bad track record. The TV series Space 1999 is now seen as having been set 15 years in the past- their vision of future technological progress and the importance of Space Travel was wildly wrong. I caught the opening scenes of the very funny Demolition Man a few nights back; it was set in the year 2032, less than 20 years away. I am confident we will look nothing like that, even if Boris Johnson & the UKIPS ever get into power, and I’m fairly sure they won’t.

We overestimate our technological progress and underestimate how constrained we are by our human characteristics.

    I still want a jet-pack.

The same one represented by the guy who walked out of a Leeds Bar because of a threatening atmosphere that consisted of Republican singing?

It was a York bar and there was no Republican songs being sung.

  20. Some people here are predicting a ‘Yes’ vote and others quote the consequent meltdown of the pound and UK stock market.

Given that both are trading within 15 of their range in the last month or so, this implies either that there’s zero chance of a Yes or else there won’t be financial armageddon.

Many more highly respected economists and business people are issuing very real warnings but it’s all being swept away as scaremongering. Much better to be guided by the much trusted Alex Salmond, his word is his bond you know.

  23. Joe Filippis Haircut on

CultsBhoy. I agree with you even if it is No on Friday the debate is likely to continue and the next time the change may come. I dont think it is going to go away it is to close for that.H.H.

  24. Correction –

Some people here are predicting a ‘Yes’ vote and others quote the consequent meltdown of the pound and UK stock market.

Given that both are trading within 1.5% of their range in the last month or so, this implies either that there’s zero chance of a Yes or else there won’t be financial armageddon.
