Done in the name of Celtic fans

Saturday’s victory is unlikely to feature in the season’s highlights DVD but it was our ninth consecutive domestic win and despite a few shaky moments at the back we’ve conceded only twice during that run.  That compares to only three clean sheets in our nine previous domestic games.

Despite selecting from the same personnel, Celtic have a vastly improved defensive unit; comparable to last season’s record breakers.

Europe is different. We conceded home and away to Salzburg and Astra, keeping a clean-sheet only at home to Thursday’s opponents, Dinamo Zagreb.

Done in the name of Celtic fans yesterday:

Did you read that the Celtic Foundation hosted 120 people who use the services of the Glasgow Simon Community yesterday?  The Community have assisted the homeless for over 40 years.  Community chief exec, Lorraine McGrath, said, “Too many people still find themselves without a home; more than 6500 people registered as homeless in Glasgow last year alone.”

You can get involved with the Foundation’s work this Christmas by coming to the game a little early on Sunday and shaking a collection bucket.  As well as the Simon Community, the Foundation aim to help Glasgow East Women’s Aid, Spirit Aid, Loaves and Fishes, The Wayside Club, Glasgow City Mission, the Scottish Refugee Council, The Invisibles and Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

That’s an incredible amount of work to carry out in your name over the coming weeks.  You can sign up to help with the bucket collection here.  You’ll enjoy it.

The CQN Annual is coming off the presses this week.  It’s a full colour Celtic extravaganza.  Order yours HERE now in time for Christmas!

Aff oot to take some photies in various public lavvies of anti Celtic/Catholic graffiti.

Should be able to get a load of publicity since I’m sure the various media outlets will be desperate for another such scoop.

  2. My favorite supporters, the GB better get their act together promptly, and get the moronic graffiti artists to fek. They will be banned if any connection is found.Once again a couple of retards have got our name dragged through the mud.

Not too difficult to understand why. As Harlan Ellison said: The two most common elements in the Universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

Most CQN posters are a cut above the DR/Sun reading Celtic supporters. Remember, I said MOST 0:-)

Indeed but in this instanse I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t a Celtic supporter who was responsible.

I’ll say again though, the real story is the fact that this made headline news.

  11. Cycling Santa’s

    Well. that was an experience!!!

Set off from the Royal Edinburgh Childrens hospital at 10am shortly after the company supporting the London to Belfast cycle advised that for Health and Safety reasons that they could not support the cycle from Edinburgh to Glasgow due to the Weather forecast conditions across the central belt.

With so much charity money and donations made in good faith all the cyclists decided to go ahead with the cycle knowing that at worst we could jump a train from one of the many stations ever 5 to 10 miles throughout cycle.

So we left Edinburgh in cold but sunny weather with a decent 25mph head on wind in our faces.

By the time we reached Broxburn and started climbing from Bathgate up to Blackridge (can someone tell me why anyone in their right mind would decide to live in a town like Blackridge?) and passed Caldercruix into Airdie we enjoyed some of Scotland’s finest horizontal hail, snow, sleet, rain, sun all mixed in with a good 25 to 35mph head on wind all the way.

Arriving at Glasgow’s Yorkhill Childrens hospital’s oncology ward at around 3\3:30pm feeling cold, wet and plain dreich, our few 3 hours of slogging it across the country the country was put into perspective. We were met on arrival by Vanessa Riddle and her family, who fought and won her fight against Neuroblastoma and is now fit and well. Chris Riddle, Vanessa’s dad, unkown to me had joined us on the cycle from Edinburgh to Glasgow and it was only when I arrived I realised, even though I had met him once or twice before at fund raisers for Vanessa.

I don’t know about you guys but when I think and hear of kids battling cancer I always think of 1 or two kids like Oscar Knox, who I did the cycle in memory of, and Vanessa Riddle, fighting against all the odds to beat this dreadful disease. I never imagined walking into a ward of 40 or 50 kids, which I was told was full throughout the year, with it’s single rooms full with the kids and their families while the kids battle against this horrible (add expletive of choice) disease. It was heartbreaking to see but somehow these kids were still laughing and smiling like any other kid as if what they were going through was normal. It was a pleasure to hand out gifts to these young kids and see their smiles and their appreciation at such a small token from strangers on the day.

I’d like to thank all of you who have donated and helped me raise £919 for the Neurobalastoma Childrens Cancer Alliance UK (NCCAUK). It is very much appreciated.

Most ? Since Saturday I’ve read topics about:

Guidetti’s suitability and abilities. That was hard on the heels of the attention most of the media gave him following his failure to score. Now putting aside his perfectly good (actually fantastic) disallowed goal on Saturday. And ignoring the facts that he has scored 11 in 13…….how, why and where did the ideation about JG’s abilities come from and why did that hemlock arise on CQN ?

I also read CQN posts that VVD’s head is somewhere else and he’s looking for a move etc etc. Guess what the rags have been leading with ? The facts are that Virgil has scored 3 and had at least 1 MOTM performance in the last 3/4 games.

But still “we” publicise their agenda.

  14. MWD

    Well done mate.

Blackridge? I worked with a guy from there and I run him home from the Glasgow office when I was a teenager. I had a green shirt and tie on and my Celtic ring on my finger. He took me to Coopers bar. Place was deserted. We went through the the blue room to play pool and the table was blue. I was just teeing up to break and the local factory must have emptied because 20 guys came in and I was trying to finish this game as quickly as possible with putting my hand on the table anymore than I had to. My work colleague was in stitches. A very good guy who helped me at work for many years but a wind up merchant. If anyone had laid of a finger on me he would have killed them!

It could well have been a Celtic supporter that did it, I just don’t know, and you are right, why is the press making such a big deal about it. There wouldn’t be a high profile Glasgow derby on the horizon?

Mocking the dead is repulsive and I think it is right to condemn, but before doing so categorically requires proof positive; Proof that would result in a solid conviction in a court of law.

I don’t see any great levels of indignation from ‘any’ quarter post Celtic PLC announcing their players and staff were subjected to sectarian and racial abuse at Tynecastle, and they are alive.

Maybe the ‘paper’ in question could send one of their more accomplished members of staff, I’ll nominate Hen Broon, to do a story on why a guy who wore an armband in a show of respect for a multiple-murderer earns a living in the media?
