Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

Correct the silence is hurting the club, it’s own fans

I have no idea as to the strategy this follows

Disenfranchising its own paying customers, for the sake of some brand new club and whatever it may bring ?

Who, and Ronny has had more than enough support, Ronny needs to have our team delivering on what he claims, me, I’ve still to see it after 21 months :-)

  4. Winning captains. Why on earth is the protest always down to the support. Why can’t th club show even a small bit of leadership.

It’s because they are part of the corruption.

    It disgusts me.

  5. I am of the belief that Res 12 will be the downfall of the sfa.

Nothing else is going to prevail imo, nobody is stepping up to the plate, the lies are being peddled at an alarming rate, the plebs are lapping it up, but sometimes the truth takes it’s time to come out, and I believe it will in due course.

I know Auldheid reasonably well, and I trust him when he tells me to have patience, tho it’s not really what I am good at, but with him on the case, he would, given the chance tear the sfa to ribbons, I don’t know Brogan but I believe he is of the same mould as Auldheid in the sense of accountability re the sfa, and as for the Canman, he may well come across as an angry mhan at times, well most of the time if the truth be told :-) but trust me, he wants whats right, he wants justice, he will do what it takes to bring these cheating corrupt bassas down, and I thank him from the bottom of my heart for his input on Res 12.

I hear that the biggest selling replica shirt in the west of Scotland is barcelona.

I wonder if that’s because they play fantastic football or simply cos the zombies won’t buy rifc shirts.

If you f*** up and expose even a small ‘chink in your armour’ – rest assured that your enemy will highlight it, to discredit you and your whole case, no matter how watertight you think it is – “if they got that wrong, what else have they got wrong?”

  19. To,be fair to clunks After Earth was not a crap vehicle for will smiths son, it was one of the most intellectual films the world has ever seen. It’s clearly just my stupidity that has prevented me from seeing that thus far.

    Glad you asked!

    Understand the importance of lighting

Cinematographers are the painters of light, and the most skillful of them know where, when, and how to apply it in order to tell the story. There is, of course, the obvious task of making sure your subjects are lit and visible, but the challenge lies in making the light speak in ways that your characters cannot.

So, on the one hand, you need to light a space so you can see the actors – but, more than that, you are creating a mood, you are creating a world for those actors to inhabit and for the audience to get submersed in. Lighting is one of the most important aspects of any great film.

In this video from NPR, Deakins breaks down one of his favorite scenes in his film No Country for Old Men:

Keep up with new technology but remember the storytelling

This might be ironic (or a good reminder) since we’re coming off of NAB, but it’s true — the core of filmmaking is storytelling. It’s easy to fall in love with new cameras and gadgets, because they’re exciting, they produce beautiful images, and make our lives a little bit easier, but we have to always remember that these things are just tools to be used to tell stories.

Technology is changing all the time, but for me nothing has changed in the sense that you are still telling stories by the use of light, the use of a frame, the way you move a camera. I’m still hoping to be part of telling stories about people and the way we are. So, to me, technology is important, but it’s only in the background, it’s a means to an end, it’s like the paintbrush.

I think a lot of us understand that initial FEAR when you first get your hands on a camera and have to push record during a project. There’s so much riding on your ability to not only capture a technically sound image (correctly focused, exposed, and framed), but to capture one that is emotionally engaging and original. Definitely learn from films, classes, tutorials, and experienced cinematographers, but don’t forget just how important it is to your art and career for you to get out there and get to work.

  25. Excellent clunks. Clearly you felt the lighting in after Earth told us much about the human condition.

What is preventing the Club from responding to a question from a fans group wrt Celtic being the club with the most title wins that are still playing in the SPFL? There is no need to wait till the tax case is resolved to let the fans know of the board’s position on our semi final opponents history.

As the media ramps up the OF stories in the run up to the game with Deidco, should Celtic start recording all the press interviews with the questioners giving their names and the media outlet they represent? Through our experience we know that they take what Celtic say and put their own twist on it.

If Celtic made these interviews available to the public we the fans could call them out on the misrepresentations.
