Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

Your posts make sense inasmuch as only a bhoycott will see off this board.

Withdraw funds, they will have nowhere to turn. Non-gate money receipts are also heavily dependent on people turning up,after all.

However-and this is where we are caught in a cleft stick-doing so will destroy Celtic FC before it harms Celtic Plc.

As much as I detest the board,I cannot advocate that route. The potential for disaster is too great.

Yes,that almost certainly means more of the same, unpalatable as it is. But nowhere near as unpalatable as destroying Celtic.

    Re the Scotsman article.

They didn’t quite get it right, as, in their haste to big up Prohibited Name FC, they’ve got a photo of action from last year’s League Cup semi-farcical with a caption declaring it to have been the final.

In a few hours time I shall be twenty-seven grand years of age. Paradoxically it will be a happy enough birthday; perhaps that’s because I am free in spirit. I can offer no other reason.

I was at Mass today, and saw all the lads minus their beards, etc. An American priest said Mass and I went to Communion. One of the lads collapsed before Mass, but he’s all right now. Another was taken out to Musgrave military hospital. These are regular occurrences.

I am 60.8 kgs today, and have no medical complaints.

I received another note from my sister Bernie and her boyfriend. It does my heart good to hear from her. I got the Irish News today, which carried some adverts in support of the hunger-strike.

There is a stand-by doctor who examined me at the weekend, a young man whose name I did not know up until now. Little friendly Dr Ross has been the doctor. He was also the doctor during the last hunger-strike.

Dr Emerson is, they say, down with the ‘flu… Dr Ross, although friendly, is in my opinion also an examiner of people’s minds. Which reminds me, they haven’t asked me to see a psychiatrist yet. No doubt they will yet, but I won’t see him for I am mentally stable, probably more so than he.

I read some wild-life articles in various papers, which indeed brought back memories of the once-upon-a-time budding ornithologist! It was a bright pleasant afternoon today and it is a calm evening. It is surprising what even the confined eyes and ears can discover.

I am awaiting the lark, for spring is all but upon us. How I listened to that lark when I was in H-5, and watched a pair of chaffinches which arrived in February. Now lying on what indeed is my death bed, I still listen even to the black crows.

    Good Afternoon

It seems that the people think they have arrived.

The fix is well and truly in.

Like last year I will not spend a single penny on this game nor shall I waste a single minute of my time watching it, although I must confess that I hope the metaphysical cheaters do not prevail.

In my opinion this once again gives them the credibility and the respect which they crave and feel is their right.

Their hubris combined with the media hype makes them think that the cup is already in the bag.

Once again I think that there will be utter carnage in the streets of Glasgow, particularly if the team now ploughing out of Govan get beaten. I hope that I am wrong.

As I have said before the sheer hypocrisy of the SFA/SPFL has sickened me.

I was disgusted to see Doncaster in the photograph at Ibrox. He must have heard the singing and yet nothing was done.

Like others I think the site is quiet because of reporting restrictions and contempt of Court.

Soon there will be judicial pronouncements which will end the argument about oldco/newco for ever.

By Law no one is entitled to benefit from crime and if the switcheroo is established then this present version of “The Rangers” must come to an end.

If what is out in the public domain is evidenced in Court there can only be one outcome and that is that TRFC, formerly known as Sevco will be deemed to be the proceeds of crime and the company who have only ever played Celtic once will be liquidated.

When that happens there will be an even bigger fix as they won’t want to start the journey all over again.

For the avoidance of doubt I am not anti Rangers but I am anti cheating.

If a new club had been started and acknowledged as such and the fans wanted to believe in their hearts and minds that it is one and the same, I would have had no problem.

What disgusts me is the assertion that this is indeed the same club whilst sticking two fingers up at the creditors, and blaming everyone except SDM who is the real culprit.

This man not only sold Scottish football and Rangers short but he also wasted a billion pounds of taxpayers’ money. The sooner he is stripped of his unworthy knighthood and made to repay the money, the better.

This entity is not and will never be Rangers.

When I think of Rangers of old I think of Jim Baxter, Davie Cooper and John Greig.

The present incumbents wearing the blue jersey could not even lace the boots of those former players.

Thanks. I found today’s particular hard as he recalls his childhood and his interest in ornithology.

Unfortunately, events on the ground prevented him from pursuing what to most young people would have been an interest, possibly leading to a job.

He was burned out of his home for his faith and experienced all of what living like a second class citizen entailed. The fact is he sacrificed his childhood and adult life to bring about a better existence for others.

All the more galling hearing 26 county media and co recently pontificating about something they never endured.

Morning Bhoys It seems to me Celtic are losing out due to the cheating at Ibrokes our support is splitting some say keep supporting the hoops and others say they wont support the cheating in Scottish football. The board must know of this dilemma for the support but remain stubbornly quiet. I think this is a watershed moment in Celtics history and if the board dont wake up and keep the support in the picture I feel Celtic will be changed forever and be very much down sized as a club. H.H.

    * An elastic concept of time that varies in length according to the level of anxiety or excitement as regards the significance or importance of the final destination or outcome. The empirical measure of “Soon” has not been established, but has been observed to be proportional to the significance of the destination.

As excitement or anxiety grows, so also do the dimensions of Soon.

Eg: “His judgement cometh, and that right soon”. Judgement is this example refers to the “final judgement” of God on mankind, an outcome of profound significance, and thus ‘soon’ has infinite dimensions.

    Alterntively:

    -“Are we there yet?”

    -“No, not yet pet”

    -“When will we get there?”

    -“Soon”

In this example, soon has been observed to be measured in hours, a relatively short period of time to the onlooker, but experienced as an eternity for a child in the back seat needing the loo.

For all things related to Rangers FC, its Tax affairs, its liquidation, and the subsequent acquisition of its assets by Sevco Scotland Ltd, “soon” with reference to a final definitive legal position, means “by 2020”.*

*Some Intermediate details may be established sooner.

Football as Jimmy Greaves said is a funny old game over at Ibrokes the tribute act are on the crest of the wave they are heading for the league title and promotion they are in the semi final of the Scottish cup and they have reduced there loses. They are beating all before them and playing to huge gates the peepil are delighted with them and the bread man.Mean while over in the East end Celtic are at sixes and sevens should they or shouldnt they keep Ronny what is our best team who knows ? The gates are poor and the supporters are low on confidence. Can somone tell me who cheated ? Aye its a funny old game right enough. H.H.

Do you reckon it will take that long to get through the law lords

  15. BMCUW,

The reference to Newcastle is indeed thought provoking. I mentioned this the other day.

What is really noticeable is that in domestic league games their ground is full.

    Why is that?.

They are maybe fighting relegation now, but even when they played in the lower leagues their crowds held up remarkably well.

We have an acknowledged bigger fan base.

We are going for the league and cup double.

Are our fans more fickle and less faithful.

Imo, the answer is very simple. It is our domestic playing environment. It is who we play against.

Yes we had a phenomenal surge of interest under Fergus. But we were underdogs and fighting cheats and the establishment.

Now we are top dogs and many consider us part of the establishment.

No manager,CEO or board will make Celtic v Morton , Celtic v Hamilton sell outs .

We have two choices. We stagnate in Scottish football and galvanise our support every time we play Sevco or we must ply our football elsewhere.

We have squandered the hun free years. I’m sure we could have started at the bottom of the English / Welsh leagues and worked up.

The journey would have been eventful and we would have had clear direction.

Now I look forward to the SC semi for the reasoning above, wondering what if.

Hail, Hail to all and especially to those who still make the effort.

Generally, I think it’s lame to post the same thought twice but all my years of watching Scottish football authorities shafting Celtic, whenever possible, has had me thinking how best can they disrupt our preparations for the Cup semi-final.

Yesterday morning, I suggested it would suit Celtic, not SPFL, to play the catch-up game at Den’s Park on Tues/Wed, 5th/6th April. Yesterday afternoon, SPFL arranged ICT v Hearts for Tuesday that week, which co-incidentally means that the Hearts home game against Aberdeen on Friday 8th April will be their third game in seven days.

Usually, there’s at least four weeks notice of re-arranged fixtures so it only takes for the SPFL and Dundee to ‘miss’ each other’s phone calls for another couple more days and “hey presto”, there’s insufficient notice available to arrange our game before the split and we’re in Dundee mid-week before we play at Hampden.

We are never paranoid enough (even when we try hard so to be).

Hun friendly media should not be underestimated.

Here in the USA all I hear is how “one is as bad as the other”.

This is all from Brits north and south of the border.

Not one has ever bothered to attend, compare the atmosphere and attitudes of the respective supporter groups.

Make no mistake the larger collective is aligned against us.

    ====================

I encountered this attitude occasionally in England but the fans of certain other Scottish clubs have this down to a tee(most notably Aberdeen).

They hate to see buses leaving their cities and towns to support clubs in Glasgow(not saying they don’t have a point in certain cases) but the ones as bad as the other stuff is simple and suits their agenda.

I just ask them to take every conflict in history they have any knowledge of and consider on how many occasions both sides involved were equally to blame.

You can see the penny drop, before they often go into denial mode…
