Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

    ….or, Celtic will die….imho

    …bed-time-now-zzzzzz……

  2. If, as is being speculated, Mike Ashley punts McLaren from Newcastle and then replaces him with Warbo from the Zombies just to spite them, I think I may need to invest in some of those Always Ultras.

    TGM/TET,

Keep in mind this is the same court that gave the British govt a bloody nose over the Birmingham 6 and many other embarrassing moments.

If keeping timmy down was what it was all about the B6 would never have seen the light of day, at least that’s how I see it.

I’m in my very late 60s and I would feel cheated once again if I happen to die before this farce is concluded…

That’s a silly comment because when you are deid you are deid (listening huns?) and you can’t feel anything.

However, I’m sure you know what I mean…

Cheating has always been their way.

    They made the rules.

Scottish football is rapidly taking the form of World Wrestling.

Its not sport, not football….just rigged entertainment.

    Its a farce.

Like a Clown Football League, or a Clown Champions League….Clown Teams.

Scottish Football is like a Cartoon.

Its not football as the rest of the world knows it.

    I just feel sad.

    Hope you are right.

But…i lost faith in judges,,,many, many years ago.

Football in this country, should be burned at the stake:)

Its like an old torn and sodden mattress, no use to anyone.

Scottish Football is like Ludo….but not as exciting:)

You have hit the nail on the head.

For many it will be too late. They will witness the cheats acting as normal. They will not witness justice.

If we were playing in a different league then it may be tolerable to wait.

They used to be a big fish in a wee pond.

Their problems started when oversight of their bank account moved from Scotland to England. Once that happened such influence as they had had counted for nothing.

The judges in the Court of Session dealt with them properly and correctly. The idea that the Supreme Court will not do the same is verging on the paranoid.

They really are of no significance in the big wide world.

TBB…you talk a lot of sense sir and I hope, and maybe even believe, you are correct. Justice must prevail surely.

No harm, but 3 Scottish Law Lords decided unanimously against Rangers’s case just a few months ago. Why do you think 5 (maybe 7) Supreme Court Lords will be any more influenced/ more accessible than those chaps in Edinburgh?

I don’t believe you can buy a Supreme Court decision. In part, I accept that’s because I instinctively refuse to believe it’s even possible.

These guys worship one thing only: The Law. It’s what they live for. An affront to The Law is tantamount to heresy in their book. They’re out of reach, and the only influences on their decision will be the strength of argument presented, and the weight of precedent.

    TGM,

Like TBB says we have an exciting summer coming up, lots of our paranoia will be sated, the Governing bodies are in for a very rough ride which will unseat a few and shake up the whole shebang, res 12 is getting tasty again and to deal with the refs I’m beginning to think the H&S might have some merit, the ubertim making a usual snide comment sparked an idea when he blurted out write a letter. The fact is any qualified H&S inspector has a duty of care to report incidents not properly dealt with, could be that fan power might again become very useful questioning inconsistent and dangerous decisions leading to incidents and injuries. The evidence is all televised :)
