Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

I would be interested to know when he presented that. Was it before the Regs were updated in 2013? Not convinced the SPFL and the SFA would be considered employers (for players) but that is just an opinion. You asked whether the injury to Johansen, I think, is reportable, which and I repeat I’m guessing here, I do not think it would be. I note that Dr Fuller states that “there are no specific requirements to report accidents or injuries caused by sporting activities” ie some are but not all. Is the injury serious enough that is the question. Incidentally I think that the ‘appropriate enforcing body’ for organised sports is the local authority in this case Glasgow City Council.

We do retain the best lawyers to advise us in all situations – that is why we are never in ‘dodgy’ legal situations.

Can you and others not envisage that in the Sevco/Rangers saga, those self-same lawyers are strongly advising against ANY Celtic involvement at this stage?

It is not to difficult to imagine and of course the club would be foolish not to adhere to that ‘expensive’ and professional advice.

  6. Redundancy doesn’t only affect the people being dismissed. Whole families, many with young children can be devastated with long term consequencesis.

It should never be used as a footballing weapon. It is certainly not in the spirit of why we were founded.

By no means a personal dig, jut a general observation to any redundancy situation.

    Ubertim,

Res12 is still moving forward thank you for asking, remind us, what have you done ?

Oh that’s right brainless compliance, aye that will get Celtic a fair deal, it’s a shame but the team would not even notice you missing from the crowd so your ubertim drivel is simply that, very few care about your attendance record and most of them sit on the board.

    Nothing.

Has anyone noticed the irony of this situation?

Our support is ripping itself apart , with polar opposite views.

Some will definitely go to the Semi final, others definitely won’t .

    Each view I can understand.

    The irony?

Well, whilst we argue amongst ourselves the Hun will be 100% United and giving their all to put us to the sword.

    – – – – –

Many on here already know my stance, not anther penny towards FTSFA, any competitions they are involved with etc, this is painful for me

On the flip side I have no interest in anything to do with Sevco and very much doubt. Will in the future

Now our fans at each other’s throats, I put the blame firmly at our boards door for this

Rather than pull us all together in a fight for justice, honesty, integrity, they appear to await a Sevco club and any benefits it could bring financially, totally neglecting their bread and butter of their core fans

Celtic strategy this past 4 years has created division amongst us, with horrendous ( being polite here) communication if any, the way they have driven our team to an even level with the likes of other SPFL clubs etc, s Erving many away

What a lost opportunity they have presided over

All in my humble opinion of course

I think you might need to read the post again, injury reporting in line with RIDDOR.

That some of the acts have been updated means nothing unless they have specifically exempted sports.

Also it is a guidance manual but a few statements I posted, clearly identify the responsibilities and applicable H&S standards.

Sorry, the truth was why he was sacked, but only cos the hearld was got at, had it not been, he would still be in a job.

But it has nothing to do with the situation Celtic are in, telling the truth will not harm the club, I can see it now, the media are up in arms cos we were cheated and we have complained, aye right, the club don’t have the balls to stand up to the cabal, they are cowards of the highest degree imo.

We as a support have been cheated, they haven’t, they have their expenses and their kudos, they don’t give a toss for us, never have and never will.

I am telling you they didn’t pay it, so they cheated the game of football, FACT, that is an undeniable truth.

They didn’t tell the sfa about side letters, they withheld vital information, they cheated, another FACT, also another undeniable truth.

Now you are telling the blog that the club can’t comment on these undeniable truths cos it may harm us, come on, you are no that stupid.

  19. If the only reason Celtic have said nothing is that they’ve received legal advice to keep quiet then I think we may have had an article suggesting that’s the case.

I’d go further. If the Celtic Board thought they’d get away with using that as an excuse I think we may have had an article to that effect, notwithstanding that such advice would be of the ‘in terms of the debate’ category.

    Übertim,

At no time have I ever considered myself important I leave people like you to make your own interpretations, even res12 was more important than me.

Remember I asked anyone who wanted to take over should take over. The gobshite snipers were very silent then.

Since the resolution was taken forward by the board, the same gobshites have done nothing but try to derail and diminish its potency, why is that you think ?

I think its jealousy, that it is the first successful resolution from the floor in Celtic’s history, the fact that it is/was my idea and resolution makes me the target of anyone bitter enough to think they could have done better and anyone jealous that they could not have done better. Their frustration at their own low self esteem somehow makes me fair game.

The last couple of weeks I have again raised another idea I had a few years ago on here, about H&S, now that is the target, is that in case it turns out to be another good idea ?

I’m not saying it will lead to anything you’ll note but, that’s right, in my expert opinion (which is meant to be a joke btw) it’s worth following up the same way I thought res12 was worth following up. And I have a decent track record in researching my ideas and moving them forward if I see any good coming from it.

You want to know how I get my ideas ?

Well it usually through semi intelligent discussions I have with fellow bloggers. Some of those discussions are argumentative, a good argument gets my juices flowing. Yep I know I go over the top sometimes but when I do I am usually man enough to recognise and apologise when I think I’ve went too far but I don’t always think I’ve gone too far, sometimes I think I’m right and in those cases I’m an unrepentant Fenian b’stard.

I am important to my immediate family and friends, I’m happy with that, other peoples interpretation of how I frame my opinions is their own responsibility and problem, suffering fools and bitter little minds is not something I excell at.

    Anyroadup,

It’s bawbaws time I’ve explained myself too much but that’s it like it or lump it.

Night night n hail hail timdom

  24. This blog is enough to put any prospective Celtic supporters off supporting our club. I am now questioning my ST renewal. No Issues there. This blog needs to get Celtic. End of. HH.

  25. Just spent an enjoyable evening in the company of Paul Dykes, author of Quality Street Gang and Neilly Mochan Smiler books.

We discussed the current situation the club finds itself in and both agree that Ronny deserves more encouragement and support.

Anyway back to the semi final. What can Celtic do?

They haven’t been prepared to say anything to date and are also in a position where they have various court cases etc to come before we can expect a declared position from the club.

Silence however is hurting the club – attendances, merchandise sales and so on.

What they have let it be known is that they regard Old Firm as being redundant, presumably as one half of the relationship passed away back in 2012.

Yet the MSM, SFA, Sevco etc are desperate to ram home the Old Firm narrative.

    So…

I suggest we state that we want no part of this narrative and as such we will play the forthcoming semi final in our yellow away strip and not in the green and white hoops.

This will be a global story with international media asking why we have taken this step.

The club could ask the supporters to join in and we could wear (buy) yellow tops etc and add words of protest rather than players names to the strips.

  26. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

Oh and for your info, since the res was moved past the AGM, Auldheid and BRTH have been the main players, I know when to step aside and when to stick my oar in, getting it through was me and Morissey, making it work is Auldheid and BRTH though sometimes sticking oars in the water keeps the boat moving in the right direction and it is still moving in the right direction even with the obstacles and sniping from people you thought would support the work put in.

  27. I had a wee bit of a run in with a hun in work today… His understanding is…if they win the Scottish cup thems are guaranteed Europe.

My understanding is their books don’t hold up. I saw a post from weeminger that substantiated that.

Now, I’m off tomorrow as Jonnythetim’s father in law passed away and the funeral is tomorrow. I probably won’t be on as it will be a heavy day… If one of you clever clogs on here can verify that their gubbed, it would be most appreciated.

  28. Approximately 4 minutes of radio Scotland was more than enough tonight. Are we playing Sevco or Barcelona next month ?

    Old Firm my arse.

    Cowiebhoy 9.21pm…..Correct. HH
