Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

    Yes and no. This was addressed during the examination of the changes to RIDDOR 2013. But it is not always clear when the Health & Safety at Work Act applies. For example if a death occurred during a professional sporting activity then obviously it must be reported. However, injuries sustained in the normal course of a game or sporting activity, fracture etc. would not generally be considered reportable. In that context I’m guessing the Johansen injury would not be reported.

    With regard to the state of our pitch, the pitch is meant to be a mix of grass and astroturf, a very small percentage of being astroturf in order to reduce the wear and tear on the pitch.

    We have the lighting rigs which have been used before on the pitch , they had them on when I was at a few lunches at the stadium, andI dont know if they are still used to help the pitch.

    The front of the roof on the South Stand is perspex to get more natural right on the pitch but the last two dreich and drookit winters won’t have helped.

    If it is to be relaid ,lets hope the quality of turf used is better .

    Safety in Sport Guidance for UK National Governing Bodies UK Sport Prepared by Dr C W Fuller

    3. Implications for National Governing Bodies, Clubs and Societies

    If there is at least one person who receives payment or payment in kind for work within an organisation, the organisation will be regarded as an employer so far as health and safety, and equalities, legislation is concerned. Therefore, in this context, the majority of NGBs will be regarded as employers. In the UK, every employer must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of any person who may be affected by their activities. Employers, however, are responsible for both their own acts and the acts of their employees and agents, such as voluntary workers (vicarious liability). Failure by an NGB to identify the risks within their sport and/or to provide guidance to associated clubs and societies on how to control these risks could leave groups and individuals vulnerable to criminal or civil liability in the event of an accident to a participant, spectator or member of the public……

    4.2 Statutory requirements

    …..Two general pieces of statutory legislation dominate the management of health and safety for all activities; namely, the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. In the case of an accident to an employee or a member of the public, it is also necessary to be aware of the requirements to report certain incidents under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995…..

    ….There are no specific requirements to report accidents or injuries caused by sporting activities. However, a death or serious injury to a member of the public or an employee at a sports ground or a sporting activity must be reported to the appropriate enforcing authority under the general requirements of the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 1995….

    5.3 Four-way responsibility for sport safety

    There is a four-way interdependence of responsibilities for the health and safety risks associated with each sport among NGBs, affiliated clubs and societies, officials and participants. Examples of the contributions that each of these groups make to the safety of sport can be summarised as:

    …..

    Officials:

    • Fitness and capability for officiating;

    • Knowledge of the sport’s relevant laws/rules;

    • Compliance with laws/rules during events;

    • Protection of participants from ill health and injury caused by unsafe equipment and facilities and/or the acts and omissions of other participants; Protection of spectators from ill health and injury caused by the sport’s activities;

    • Provision of personal liability insurance.

    You are confusing “brand” with “existence”. The Celtic brand will forever now be OLD FIRM and NOT Celtic. Celtic are not on their last legs their superior brand is.

    How can telling legal truths end up in court, they are not the same club end off, how does that end up in court ?

    The old club cheated Celtic out of money, how does that end up in court ?

    The old clubs cheated titles should be stripped, how does that end up in court ?

    You live in lalaland and I expect those statements might be illegal in lala land but not in Scotland, not yet but it might become so if people like you don’t grow a pair and stand up to the cheating.
