Early stats point to Sviatchenko effect

623

Well done to everyone for the win against Morton. After a difficult week it was good to get the result sorted out before halftime. Fixing poor form is seldom a straightforward business, but yesterday’s win was our sixth game in a month, with the loss of only one goal in that period.

The five games before this run didn’t produce a single clean sheet. Erik Sviatchenko started only the last of those five games (at Pittodrie), so while the sample size isn’t enough to draw clear conclusions, it’s an early indication the Dane has tightened things up at the back.

One thing Erik hasn’t been able to do is turn Celtic into a team which looks like it knows how to defend a corner kick. A Morton corner fell into the six-yard box to an attacker’s foot (never mind head). We’ve seen dozens of these horror-show set-pieces this season. They have cost us in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and in the Premiership. The Scottish Cup is the only tournament we’ve got away with it, so far.

You are I are beyond despairing at this point, let’s just get it sorted, Celtic.

    Enjoy your day

Don’t come on here though complaining about any aspect of anti-Celtic/Irish bigotry that the club or support are exposed to on the day, in the form of policing, Sevco support or MIBbery.

Your baggage and beef maybe don’t stop you supporting Celtic, but they sure as dammit get in the way of you seeing the big picture.

To paraphrase Talking Head: “Same as it ever was and is every single week…”

I do see the bigger picture and i’m comfortable with the decisions that I make.

Hopefully we both enjoy the day and a double!

  3. THE ENEMY WITHIN

    —————————-

With ‘friends’ like some on here – Celtic doesn’t need enemies.

They know that 100% of the mud slung is only rumour and imagined MUD – but they hope for it to stick anyway.

Where do they differ from the ‘gutter press’ and our detractors in what they do?

For “a different reason”, I hear them say.

When the dagger pierces the skin and causes injury – it makes no odds whether the act was perpetrated by a friend, or a foe- at the moment of delivery it is a distinction without a difference.

Its unfortunate that Celtic got lumped with this assortment of hun loving greedy selfish executive custodians coinciding with the collapse of Rangers. There was maybe once in a 100 year opportunity to bury this Scottish cancer but by being complicit I think I can safely say that the Celtic brand is on its last legs. Long live the OLD FIRM.

So with Johansen out for at least two weeks I take it as read that a report has been filed with the HSE identifying the incident/accident that caused the injury at work ?

    MrPastry,

No missing any point, those that wield the dangerous weapons sit in the board room. Your havering drivel about supporter airing their views as if they are somehow responsible for the boards inaction and silence.

You droned on today about the EBT’s, blurting shite and trying a typical hun play by saying fact after your stupid statements.

The fact is, the DOS ruling already identified cheating and Celtic are well within their right to make a statement, bullshit about staff potentially being targeted is cowardice from those most likely to be targeted, those who make the statement.

They pretend they are looking after the minions when it’s obvious even to a clown like you that the hun go after those who speak out.

  12. canamalar

Under the latest reporting regs. (RIDDOR), an accident or incident that led to the loss of seven + days incapacitation has to be reported, to the HSE, but the employer has fifteen days, (formerly ten) to report it. Not sure if all sports injuries are reported, given that the injured party may well still attend his place of work during his absence from the team. And he may well continue to be paid.

  13. One for the stattos out there.

Do we potentially have history in the making this season – has any team ever lifted the Scottish Cup without facing top flight opposition? Cos if Hibs win their replay that feat remains a distinct possibility.

  14. WC,

Why not contact the Sunday herald and ask them to take up Greeninbingley’s offer? They might just have the guts to do a real journalistic job in telling the truth. I might even consider buying it, now that the Independent on Sunday is about to go to the wall. (I have no respect for any of the Scottish newspapers.)

  15. willmacufree on

We’re wide open to any set piece to the opposition in our half, including corner kicks. John Kennedy was one of the finest centre halves I ever saw at Celtic. He’s now first team coach. Either he’s wrongly changed his philosophy on defending or somebody is overruling him.

The “Celtic brand”, as you put it, has been wished into extinction many times over the past 120 years. Came close one or two times as well.

    We are still here.

The Hubris Huns, motto Aye Entitled, on the other hand, are not.

Celtic is not on its last legs. We need a cleaning-oot of the Augean stables, that’s for sure, but that is nothing new for our mercurial club.

I suspect we will continue doing our stuff in a rather haphazard fashion, because that’s what we’ve always done.

The Huns, meanwhile, will remain dead, and forever shamed as liars and cheats.

    Celtic mac,

Most salaried professionals get paid when off on the sick, football players usually go back for medical treatment, being incapable of playing is incapacitated whether they return to their work place or not but thinking about that, where would the workplace be, considering Lennoxtown, CelticPark, or away games.

I recently briefly read the new guidance for sports and one thing that stood out was that all H&S rules apply.

  19. Tradionalist 88 Just give up your Season Ticket making excuses for the crooks that run the football clubs Wake up for ffs we have taking in by crooks all the time, and it’s not football either, like a lot on here just pack in Believe me your tickets will be snapped up in jig time next season

I realise the psychological need for negativity ( it is to do with survival of the species and is necessary). On CQN, though, I would be much happier if those having to respond to that need ( for negativity) would have a look at these candidates and spread the condemnation around a bit:

    The SPFL

    The SFA

    Q. Are sporting injuries reportable?

    A. No, if the injury arose out of the normal participation of the activity. Injuries should be reported if they were due to defective equipment or failings in the organisation and management of an event.

I doubt it. The fact that it had to be paid for, and appeared as an advert, says Editorial desks wouldn’t touch the issue with a barge-pole.

Which is why the ad was taken out in the first place.
