Efe and Izzie getting hard time on TV

754

I was slightly miffed at Neil Lennon’s TV comments on Efe Ambrose yesterday, “He can’t cross”, but on reflection, better Neil points out the player’s flaws to the nation than gives him a ringing endorsement.  I’d a similar sentiment after Emilio Izaguirre’s dangerous looking forward step against France, which was never in danger of making contact with an opponent, when an ever-unhelpful commentator assured us Izzie, “has that in his locker”.  Anyone who has watched him for four years will know he doesn’t.

Based purely on what’s been offered up on UK TV, neither player will be attracting an offer, which is good.

Both Honduras and Nigeria have a difficult task ahead if they are to remain in the tournament beyond the group stage.  Fraser Forster’s England also have it all to do.  It’s been great for the three of them to get to the World Cup but the sooner they’re home, uninjured, the better.

I was the same ,had to go to sportsbook at 11am for free drink.

  2. Brazil looking a good bit sharper than they were in the Croatia game. Mexico are being very competitive though, as expected, and have limited them to only a couple of half-chances, Neymar’s header apart.

Ill take the JC appointment – I don’t think there was anyone else ‘Celtic minded’ with a recent and up to date knowledge of Scottish football who was available and whose footballing principles will be akin to the gaffer.

JC is a student of the modern game, he cut his teeth in it before the UK model was trying to fit such students into our knowledge of rigid formations, making fools of wonderful talents like Veron, by quite literally caging the beast.

There’s absolutely no point in having Deila out there on the training ground preaching about movement, space and place is a football tactic while his assistant thinks it’s a holiday brochure!

So it was either another foreigner with no knowledge of the local game, or it was JC.

You know what, their have been a few Celtic players in recent years who could do with watching a 40 something year old swanning about the dressing room with a physique that puts them to shame!

  7. I have it on good authority there are no pies on sale at half time in brazil, or bovril. Tequila and chilli, or a McDonalds is the staple diet. Sepp Blatter aproved of course.

  8. I wish people would stop throwing the word ‘corruption’ around every time a referee makes a decision they disagree with. It’s now just become a very bad cliche and devalues the true meaning of the word.

It seems it is not possible for Brazil to win this game on merit. If they do win, it has to be down to corruption.

The product of a corrupt mind engaging in corrupt thinking perhaps?
