Fan zones and flags

230

As we predicted months ago, Glasgow will be open for the Euros, the Scottish government yesterday went to the extent of confirming 6,000 spectators could attend the Glasgow Green Fan Zone – with testing optional.

It was made clear to me by sources inside Holyrood that the Westminster Government would ensure games would go ahead at Wembley and there was no way the Scottish Government would have a flag waving exercise in London without the same exhibition of a different nation in Glasgow.

All of the key indicators are pointing in the wrong direction and international holidaymakers face renewed restrictions, but flags, and all that.  No wonder the hospitality industry is in uproar.

  1. BACK TO BASICS – GLASS HALF FULL on 9TH JUNE 2021 4:19 PM

Was going to post summat …

…. then found this beautifully succinct comment from Greenpinata which I couldn’t hope to match.

    ———–

We are being played. After the Euros expect increased controlling measures.

    ========================

    Hi Backtobasics.

    of course we are.

on a UK stage we have the euro qualys

    be it westminster or edinburgh.

it must go ahead.kudos to whichever gov you look too.(personally i think its mad,as with fanzones and games its the congregating/spacing/masking and cleanliness that cause ‘r’ to go up).i would not wish C19 on anyone of any nationality.its horrid virus.i feel until we map how it spreads with non/symptomatic spreaders.we should only have tested entrant.

From my reading i kinda find it strange we have not had test entry requirements here in Scotland,as you point out a lot of events raves, gigs, foitball were all experiments and the knowledge and data shared widely.to ensure safety was paramount.

I dont think SG are not handlin entry into grounds well at all.Entry tested events rolled out with slow increasing attendances would have been easier to run and build confidence up,leading up to this tourney.instead a dates picked along with a number and away we go. imo tic toc til the next increase in cases.

Stephbhoy67 , That’s the way im trying to look at it mate , a clean slate is surely preferable to a dressing room full of disgruntled and dominant players , its a new dawn and hopefully a great new era of Celtic success , Hail hail ;)

  3. ALWAYS THE CAUSE NOT THE PEOPLE

SNPcult bans parents from school and nursery end of term outdoor events and yet allows 6000 to drink alcohol all day long – you could not make it up.

Scotland The Brand is all that matters to these political fanatics.

Remember Salmond pulling out a saltire at Wimbledon? An embarrassment to every Scot and an insight into the narrow mindset of these cult members.

The ‘discussion’ had calmed down. Can we leave it now?

  6. This club is a shambles at the moment. No leadership, no direction and precious little hope.

How can we go from a strategy that involves getting an EPL quality manager to someone who has never manage in Europe? It’s schizophrenic.

What happened to the director of football? Has that been binned or are we waiting on the new manager to appoint him? Who’s managing the comings and going of players? Has someone been lined up to manage pre-season? Do we have someone in place to manage the physical monitoring and conditioning programmes? ….

There are many, many questions that need answered from within the Celtic boardroom. Even when they were reluctant to speak out themselves often it appeared their views were presented on this site. Now we’re not even being given that level of respect.

Are they playing us for fools or are they the fools?

Normally this site would be the place to explain the strategy but now it seems our host is as in the dark as the rest of us. Either that or is in the know and the truth is even worse than we imagine!

I also like to think about the rebuild.

Would say Bitton, who, has in fairness has done all that’s asked of him could go.

Although wouldn’t mind if manager played in midfield (and really not a CH again) but, mids need to be more mobile these days so maybe release/sell.

Think Boli will be sold. Bad decision on his part and think it was too much of break of discipline that the club will keep.

Want to see these as at least squad players hopefully much more first team.

It’s so big a shambles it’s actually impressive.

    It’s beyond incompetence.

On the basis of getting to know your enemy, this podcast with the reputed brains of the Sevco outfit was interesting, it never pays to underestimate any opponent and far too many Celts are doing that with Gerrard and Beale, next season they will have a settled side that has tasted success and is hungry for more, chasing C/L cash plus the added benefit of honest mistakes makes Sevco a formidable opponent. STEPHBHOY67 on 9TH JUNE 2021 7:30 PM Outlines the depth of the challenge of the rebuild in respect of playing staff, however, added to the aforementioned is no DOF and chief recruitment management, the football dept is non-existent in terms of leadership I just can’t see the quality and quantity of new players required being obtained over one transfer window notwithstanding given that we are notorious for being late in the transfer window doing deals so on top of recruitment without a DOF, etc, our antipodean manager has to develop shape, structure, confidence and playing style with what remains of the squad at the start of pre-season, even if recruitment is on the money the challenge of bedding in the new management team and new players in the pressure cooker atmosphere after last seasons debacle plus European qualification is to say the least absolutely daunting, I wish Ange Postecoglou the best of luck Celtic have had some unexpected magical seasons during its history, now IMO we require more than magic I would suggest if we truly are the chosen tribe this summer now would be a good time for God to make that clear

I remember when the deid club appointed Paul Le Guen, I thought that’s it more misery going to be inflicted by der Hun. He was a top coach undermined by the senior players in his team. I can’t think many of our senior players will cause our new boss to much resentment. So in respect to the earlier point
