Find how best to use Scott Brown

815

Neil Lennon will be delighted to have secured his captain, Scott Brown, on a new long-term contract which sees the player tied to the club until after his 30th birthday in 2015, with the club having an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Scott joined Celtic in 2007 and played central midfield until last season, when he was occasionally used wide right, to great effect.  Reflecting some of the conversations we had earlier this week with Georgios Samaras, who has recently been a revelation wide-left after years of frustration as part of a front pairing, Scott seemed to revel in the space the wider position allowed him to exploit.

Before joining Celtic Scott made his name playing almost as an auxiliary striker at Hibernian, where he would burst into the box with well-timed runs but at Celtic he is more commonly anchored in a defensive midfield role.  As a consequence, despite having played more games for Celtic than Hibs, and playing for a team who attack far more often, he has still to match his Hibs goals scored total at Celtic.

    Hail Hail,

Can what happened today finally unite us to see the common enemy. No more MON v WGS (legends both), songs, poppies, zonal marking, 4-2-4, anything else that gets us at each others throats.

The enemy happened today. The enemy happened then. The enemy should never happen again.

    googybhoy ♥ Celtic

I have a fantastic picture of myself standing holding a Celtic scarf at that match in Milan.

I will never forget the applause the Milan fans gave us as we sang long after the game finished.

Only downside was they kept us in there for well over an hour

Great night. Took my 16 yr old son from Manchester. I know.he got it that night.

Just watched that huns penalty and am absolutely scunnered. Ref definitely would see the same blatant dive that we can see……………..,result 2 points handed to the huns. They are not even trying to be subtle about it now.

Is that ref the same one who ruled out Fortune’s goal for a slight touch on McGregor or is my paranoia flaring up again?

  6. Having spent a night way from a home win for the huns ( an o.g. And a penalty as it turns out) I delved into th e high end of music. cya an in his 60s pomp. Outstanding.

Moving back to reality, I did a search as I saw our captain, Mr Brown has decided to stay in our world fir the next 4 years.

The search returned – amongst other things – this little gem from the memory of my hard drive.

Not Scott brown, but a significant other of thtat surname.

Or the applause we got from the Milan fans, and the police and ambulance men and women as we walked out the ground

It wasnt long after the policeman died in sicily and football fans were very much under the spotlight there. Anyone who’s followed the tic in Italy knows how the police can be so to see them be so appreciative of the way we behaved was very moving. Very proud to be a Celtic supporter that night

Anyhow the point of my drunken post is to tell of a conversation with a Killie supporting lawyer.Twin brother of a good friend.

  10. We have been playing relatively well in the absence of our greedy ineffective captain.

I really hope things dont fall apart due to this mindless decision.

The Tommy Burns title was a one off..

  13. Talking of simulation, I watched ten minutes of the valancia Espanol game tonight and in that time saw Vladimir Weiss in action. My lip reading is worse than my Spanish but the Valencia right back seemed to know a lot about weiss’s mum

I’m not a big fan of SB in the Celtic team…BUT..

I’m more disposed to him for signing on again…doubtless this was not the best financial option open to him.

He is clearly committed to Celtic and he (even after 4 years) has something to prove…at least to me he has

He is the right age to produce his best football, so I’m hoping he does. I’d unburden him of captaincy as I don’t think it sits well with him.

If he doesn’t produce, at least we get money now if he leaves..

As he has committed to us – I’m committing to him – he has a big chance to prove many doubters wrong

    Re SB

I’ve always felt he is a player who could go on to bigger stage and do well – I just don’t think he and Celtic captaincy have fitted too well.

I’m genuinely hoping he shows it this time round – he hasn’t had his troubles to seek and he is also a more mature player this time round. He strikes me as a shy character who is being forced to portray a Captain person.. I’d like him to just focus on his game as doubtless he has more to give in the Hoops than we’ve seen for the money he has cost.

He has my support as he has committed to us but he needs to step up to fulfill his potential at Celtic?

I came out at the same time as the Bhoy fully dressed as the Pope. The police and staff were all smiling and shouting IL Papa.

    Marvellous. :)
