Find how best to use Scott Brown

815

Neil Lennon will be delighted to have secured his captain, Scott Brown, on a new long-term contract which sees the player tied to the club until after his 30th birthday in 2015, with the club having an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

Scott joined Celtic in 2007 and played central midfield until last season, when he was occasionally used wide right, to great effect.  Reflecting some of the conversations we had earlier this week with Georgios Samaras, who has recently been a revelation wide-left after years of frustration as part of a front pairing, Scott seemed to revel in the space the wider position allowed him to exploit.

Before joining Celtic Scott made his name playing almost as an auxiliary striker at Hibernian, where he would burst into the box with well-timed runs but at Celtic he is more commonly anchored in a defensive midfield role.  As a consequence, despite having played more games for Celtic than Hibs, and playing for a team who attack far more often, he has still to match his Hibs goals scored total at Celtic.

  1. We’ve been playing well recently but I’ll take a stodgy performance tomorrow as long as the end result is 3 points.

    Caldwell looked pitiful against Walcott..

    :-p

  3. Am I the only person who thinks that given the type of person that CW is, and given the type of organisation that rangers are, that he is indeed a ‘fit and proper’ person to be in charge of such an organisation.

  4. i hope Kayal’s confidence is ok – funny thing is, i have experienced a similar experience on a sporting field. instinct, instantly moves you, the rest is catching up..

  5. weather report.

just looked out the window and some snow is falling in Aberdeen.

I hope Dundee is fine for tomorrow game because we want to be keeping the pressure on.

  6. Exiled tim,

First came across cheech and chong when I was in NY in early 80s.

The Mexican / Americans scene is one of the funniest moments of all time.

How’s the cilla black? Mine started playing up again a week and a half ago, a couple of nights of bad sleep had me down to osteopath and after a couple of (expensive) sessions and some daily stretching I’m off the painkillers and feel half ok again.

  8. The endless WGS debate. I enjoyed one of my proudest nights in the San Auto when we lost to AC. That was WGS team that could have and probably should have won that night. We gave AC one of their toughest ties in CL that year.

WGS was a fierce and skilful competitor that defeated us often while at Aberdeen. Great player with Manchester Utd and Leeds.

I have never heard him talk badly of any team he has played for or managed.

I have only heard him speak fondly of one team. Stand up as a media pundits for that team. That is our team. My team, all Cqners team and WGS team. The Celtic.

He understands Celtic and Tommy Burns. You the Bhoys in here and at CP taught him that.

  9. Question.

Did Marty Feldman ever play the Motherwell Empire sometime in the mid 60’s???

I know for a FACT that he did do a one nighter for the Order Of The Eastern Star sometime in ’65….

    Just curious….

  10. celtic40me…

    back to docs on Monday…

not really clearing up.. maybe something other than muscle problems..

still doing some stretches but it maybe due to an old leg break..

  11. The penalty rangers got today was nothing short of disgraceful. No contact, dive and referee seeing what he wanted to see. Utterly dusgraceful and Celtic should push for retrospective action.

    Ref was Mike Conroy

    ———

If the ref was Mike Conroy he would have sent Aluko off and elbowed him on the way past. And then sent Jelavic and McGregor off as well.

I would be one of them things that join your legs to your body, well I was years ago, they were funny blokes.

Dave’s not here man, I weed myself at that one.

    possibly….

no my right leg is slightly shorter than my left due to a compound fracture and several ops to try and repair it.

could be the problem.. maybe need to dig out the platforms …well one at least..

  15. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!! Tick Tock !! on

So the get another non-penalty……..they really are a ‘sorry’ lot, but TICK TOCK

  16. googybhoy ♥ Celtic

I have a fantastic picture of myself standing holding a Celtic scarf at that match in Milan.

i’m in the Milan end and as my bro was coming back from the toilet he saw me standing belting a number out while surrounded by Milan onlookers and took the picture. hahaha (a moment in time captured)

we should have won that night tow stonewall pens not given.

WGS was very unlucky not to take us to the quarter final…. Milan went on to win it that year

Get both platforms shoes out and take the heel off one. I walked up Great Western Road many a early morning like that in the 70s. Hic hic.

  19. I have just seen Aluko’s dive.

    Disgraceful. Utterly disgraceful.

Gordon Smith was quick to call it cheating when it was Mikalunous at Hampden. What’s your view of Aluko then Gordon?

Maybe Peter Houston will come out and defend him as he did with Naismith.

Remember the media inquest to Nakamura being fouled 30 yards from goal against St Mirren and then scoring the free kick? Aye, baited breath we wait…and wait…

Now that the gap is closing and the squeeky bums are squeeking we will see a step up in honest mistakes. Red card tomorrow? You bet your mortgage. What occurred two seasons ago is the benchmark – watch them surpass itin the coming weeks.
