After the dust settled on Sunday’s game I considered the four central defenders we fielded. Acknowledging his poor performance, Brendan Rodgers reminded us Dedryck Boyata was just back from injury and will improve. Jozo Simunovic coasted through the game but got drawn into the spate of off the ball acts which was a feature of the game.
Kris Ajar (19) continued his excellent recent form, while Jack Hendry (22) didn’t miss a beat when introduced after Jozo’s red card. There will be tougher challenges ahead, but these two are more than comfortable at this level and have a genuine claim to a starting place at Hampden.
The Morton game a week earlier gave Marvin Compper an opportunity to show how match-fit he is – not sufficiently, was the outcome. Marvin is at the club to bring experience and stability to the defensive line. Our four games before the split are all against lower half of the league opposition. The German international must be given plenty of game time in the coming month.
What our central defence will look like for the qualifiers remains an open book. All five players discussed above are under consideration. I expect comings and goings throughout the window in this area too. Brendan will expect Marvin to play a significant part, but it will be a battle for all of them; which is a good thing.

Evening all.
I’m not convinced there is enough concrete evidence to inform any views about what Doncaster’s appointment means.
I’d also be concerned about Ian Maxwell as SFA CEO based, solely, on his previous experience.
I’ll also move to dispel any myths before they begin.
Ian is not a Celtic fan.

There is plenty of evidence, its just not reported . Give it time.
We don’t want a Celtic man, we want folk who know how to run a business professionally.
I worked 35 years in a civil service that matured in a professional sense over that period.
The way it governed itself was not dependent on any bias of those in charge but a culture of fair mindedness and honesty that did not eliminate prejudice (for whatever reason) but did not encourage it or reward it and tried to promote it. The only prejudice I faced was for being a bit “uniony” for a manager, not being a Tim. (Don’t throw a comb at a baldy right wing boss)
We don’t want a playing field tipping Celtic’s way, that is not Celtic’s way. A level one will do nicely.

I’m not alone and the deck is not as stacked as you think, otherwise the Compliance Officer would have played a card from the bottom of the deck by now.
Res12 for me was about SFA reform and has been since 2010/11 before it was a twinkle in Canalamar’s eye . He was there when a resolution seeking a more transparent and accountable SFA was presented to attendees at an open meeting in St Mary’s, with the aim of changing the Review Panel process. It was passed and given to Celtic who ran with the aim and lo the Review Panel process was changed!
Res 12 is itself is a form of accountability even if a long drawn out one. It tells the SFA they can be held accountable by tenacious shareholders who will not be easily played.
The transparency bit arrived when Charlotte Fakeovers leaked details of what was going on behind the curtain. Its just a matter of time before the curtain is pulled fully open.
Now if you mean justice will not be served on Rangers, you may well be right, but it should be a consequence of the transparency that should emerge from the Compliance Officer report, knowing the cards in the deck and hoping there are none up his sleeve.
I do remember Tiny and Walker and Farry, saw Charlie Tully, Bobby Evans, Bertie Peacock play but I am young at heart and appreciate your good wishes. :)

That is a concern but with Doncaster as the CEO of the SPFL, who asked the SFA to investigate their handling of Rangers use of ebts, a request that SFA refused, now on an SFA Professional Game Board, its a kind of poacher turned gamekeeper job.
Lets hope he is still game for a fair game.

Doncaster joining the SFA Board is about the Clubs wanting more of a say in how the game is run imo. I think the SFA have been presented with two scenarios, one, amalgamate both bodies or two, give the SPFL top brass a seat on the SFA Board. They have opted for the latter. Whether Doncaster will have any objectives in terms of looking at what has happened in the past governance wise and the ongoing Compliance Officers report I don’t know. I think this appointment is something that PL wanted as he alluded to something similar in the interview with Tom English, to what end though remains to be seen. The CO’s report may give them the opening they need for a review and root and branch reform or it could be another whitewash. For me it’s optimism and suspicion in equal measure.

Peter will be early but when Kev arrives we padlock the doors and chain them in together.
Theres will be shouts, yells, blood, thunder, but eventually it will quiet down.
They will sit as far apart from each other as they can,,avoid eye contact.
But eventually, slowly they will come to realise someone has to say something ffs.
Kj looks up, the look of disgust thats been there all night slightly faded but still evident.
Peter feels the glare and pride demands he meet it.
For a few seconds the air will turn electric again,,,and then they both realise,,whats the point.
Thats when Kev says looking him straight in the face,,disgust and upset vying for dominance on his face,,
PETER, FFS,,49 QUID! I CANT GO BACK!
Then shakes his head and drops his gaze, deflated.
Peter, stares after him, a hard stare, his jaw tightens, and a small tear forms in the corner of his eye.

Saturday 14th
Again, another uneventful somewhat boring day. My weight is 58.25 kgs, and no medical complaints. I read the papers, which are full of trash.
Tonight’s tea was pie and beans, and although hunger may fuel my imagination (it looked a powerful-sized meal), I don’t exaggerate: the beans were nearly falling off the plate. If I said this all the time to the lads, they would worry about me, but I’m all right.
It was inviting (I’m human too) and I was glad to see it leave the cell. Never would I have touched it, but it was a starving nuisance. Ha! My God, if it had have attacked, I’d have fled.
I was going to write about a few things I had in my head but they’ll wait. I am looking forward to the brief company of all the lads at Mass tomorrow. You never know when it could be the last time that you may ever see them again.
I smoked some cigarettes today. We still defeat them in this sphere. If the Screws only knew the half of it; the ingenuity of the POW is something amazing. The worse the situation the greater the ingenuity. Someday it may all be revealed.
On a personal note, Liam Og (the pseudonym for Bobby Sands’ Republican Movement contact on the outside), I just thought I’d take this opportunity tonight of saying to your good hard-working self that I admire you all out there and the unselfish work that you all do and have done in the past, not just for the H-Blocks and Armagh, but for the struggle in general.
I have always taken a lesson from something that was told me by a sound man, that is, that everyone, Republican or otherwise, has his own particular part to play. No part is too great or too small, no one is too old or too young to do something.
There is that much to be done that no select or small portion of people can do, only the greater mass of the Irish nation will ensure the achievement of the Socialist Republic, and that can only be done by hard work and sacrifice.
So, mo chara, for what it’s worth, I would like to thank you all for what you have done and I hope many others follow your example, and I’m deeply proud to have known you all and prouder still to call you comrades and friends.
On a closing note, I’ve noticed the Screws have been really slamming the cell doors today, in particular my own. Perhaps a good indication of the mentality of these people, always vindictive, always full of hate. I’m glad to say that I am not like that.
Well, I must go to rest up as I found it tiring trying to comb my hair today after a bath.

Now, I am still conflicted by my club’s actions re the events 2012 but I differ over the certainty of knowing, as opposed to speculating, on what they actually did or did not do.
However on this point, I will disagree:-

Now, as you have gone on to deveop an imaginary scenario involving Kev J and Peter Lawwell, I am unsure as to which of these is the “one person”.
If it’s KevJ, then I think you will find, there have been many days and, indeed, periods of longer than a week where he has not mentioned the £49 issue as he has other obsessions such as the cuteness of certain dud Scottish managers, the wisdom of the tabloid press as evinced by Hugh and Gerry, the lack of ability of all recent Celtic managers, including NFL, whom he now praises, the exagerrated abilities of Murdo and the under-rated abilities of Peter Grant, Callum McGregor etc; Yje existence of cliques on CQN which excludes, of course, the KevJ clique which is just a collection of like-minded well-wishers (and some aliases) and above all, the nature of the true Celtic rebel which seems to be a curious mixture of enjoying the game of chases that took place after the 1980 SC final but disapproving of vocal support for teh Republican cause.
So, young man that you may be, you are unlikely to hear this assertion 4m times from KevJ, unless he is going to become more repetitive. But, almost all of his contributions will fall under one of the 6 categories above (well, at least, until he finds a 6th category in order to prove this post wrong).
If you believe, the one man responsible is Peter Lawwell, then there is more cause for support but, even here, I think you mistake making the decision for sole responsibility. Peter Lawwell had to determine how to price tickets for this game against a team supported by the same fans who followed the previous entity. He knew that charging the same amount that fans pay to see other SPFL teams would be seen as a political act and a denial of revenue. He knew there was a demand, amongst our fans- particularly the younger group of supporters, to attend this match and, that Celtic would lose money if he set the price lower. In fact, he could charge more than £49 and, provided it was done in gradual increments, still they would come.
So, while one man took the decision, many Celtic fans set the market by their demand for these tickets. Like you, I would have preferred it not to be the same price as it was for the previous Ibrox club, but I am disappointed that the itch to want Rangers back so we could enjoy a period of easy wins against them, was so strong amongst our fans but I accept that it was.
Only time and revelations yet to come, will reveal the true story of 2012. I remain disappointed as to how it panned out but disinclined to blame only the easy scaegoat of “the suits” or ” the Board”.
