Formidable task for final preseason test

845

I am sure we will see a full strength Celtic team against Inter Milan tomorrow but that doesn’t mean Celtic will be able to overturn their summer form against what will be the best squad of players they have met since facing the same team in the Dublin Cup almost exactly a year ago.  Inter will be formidable opponents.

The experimentation of recent weeks will be set aside as Neil Lennon prepares for next week’s enormously important Champions League qualifying game against HJK Helsinki.  In particular, we are likely to see a more familiar looking back four and midfield.  What happens up front remains to be seen.  Celtic have struggled to get into scoring form preseason; the manager will be keen to resolve this, if possible.

Most of all we need a 90 minutes free of elbows in the face and other injuries as the real stuff is only five days away.

hamiltontim – I love it when ernie and Philvis get their claws into one another.

It reminds me of a female mud wrestling scene from a long gone ‘Wham’ video, when ole George was still trying to convince the world that he believed public toilets were for weeing in.

I can categorically state that Ernie does not put the boom-boom into my heart. (thumbsup)

So you want us to play teams that we can beat 10-0 to boost morale while questioning whether better teams see us as decent outfit for a preseason workout?

Maybe the better teams want to boost their morale?

    Thanks Pete, you’re a rock.

I do a lot of good work for the fat by pointing out the error of their ways.

You’d think they’d be more grateful. (thumbsup)

Need to put out a strong a side as possible, and hope that there are no flying elbows, waist-high tackles or two-footed challenges!

How many tickets have been sold, does anyone know? I’ve been telling everyone here who care to listen, and even some who don’t, that it will be a near sellout! I know, might live to regret saying that!

ernie lynch – And if someone is paying a substantial five figure sum to avoid paying tax, and then being required to sign a confidentiality agreement undertaking not to disclose details of a tax avoidance scheme, and this all results in them paying substantially less tax and national insurance than they otherwise would have, is that them paying tax and national insurance on the same basis as the rest of us?

If it’s legal? Yes, it is.

For as previous, the only two categories that matter are tax compliance and tax evasion.

Talk of tax avoidance is angels dancing on the head of a pin territory. (thumbsup)

  7. I’m with PFayr on this one.

If/when they get a licence today, then this is the day that Scottish football finally died.

If Celtic continue to participate, then they are complicit in all that has taken place.

By extension, anyone who contributes financially to ANY club is also condoning the corruption that hes poisoned the game.

It is a tough call, but it is not enough just to support Celtic, there is also a responsibility to the Game.

Too many people have abdicated from this responsibility, with the exception of those fans who forced their clubs into acting .”honourable”.

There is still work to be done.

    Seems fair enough, Stivs.

Jimmy Walsh & Paddy Turner might be another two for consideration.

  14. Sevco will get a license – and the word Rangers will be in there somewhere – that’s my prediction.

The issue of EBTs/ additional payments seems to be on the table in some form. There are two issues here though: the consequences of illegal registrations resulting in the stripping of titles and the penalty to be imposed.

Now if Green claims the titles as Sevco’s then he must accept that they can be stripped also. And if he does is there any way he could argue that any fine/ suspension/ expulsion should not also apply to his club?

The fine ole ex fattie Rascar swears by the low carbs and he dropped awesome nuggets.

I just want to access snacks that are carb free and Original. Even the Bible of onlineness is struggling to come up with Joey Tribiani results.

The Honest Mistake – Pre-season opposition can be selected for a number of reasons (match fitness, work out new formations, try new tactics, get forwards confidence up etc. etc.). My point is that I expect better European teams play us expecting a decent work out against another CL team – not to encounter a team that struggles to get a shot on goal or test their defence and back four.

For that reason I think they would be disappointed in what they encounter. They are not expecting to use us the type of test they could get from a 3rd Division German team. No doubt they have plenty of those games lined up already.

  18. Red haired footballers may make better players to a certain extent, particularly within the context of the physically robust Scottish game…there is some scientific evidence that gingers have a higher pain threshold than any other “type”…maybe that’s where they get the marauding Viking berserker/naked Highlander stereotype from?

Ole Vikings not blonde? More redheads in the Celtic fringe,a sole BSR illustrated beautifully.
