Getting buy-in from senior players

1079

Delighted to see Brendan Rodgers is down to business at Lennoxtown, three weeks before the players return for preseason training. It’s interesting that he arranged an early opportunity to meet Scott Brown over a meal, and that this was made public.

Getting buy-in from senior players was one aspect of the job Ronny Deila allegedly didn’t achieve. The rights and wrongs of this can wait for Ronny’s autobiography, although you may wish to express an outsider’s opinion. All that matters to Brendan is that no one is able to speculate about the same issue on his watch.

There’s not much a manager can do three weeks before training starts than eat dinner with the captain, scout players and watch videos. I expect Brendan to have seen every minute of every Celtic game last season by the time players get back; there is lots to learn. In particular, what went wrong at the back to a team which broke defensive records in each of the previous two campaigns. You may wish to express an outsider’s opinion.

Those in the know warned us that blue collar crime is particularly difficult to prosecute, and so it’s transpired. Only Craig Whyte now faces trial in the Rangers fraud case, which saw remaining charges against Duff and Phelps’ administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark dropped at the High Court in Glasgow this morning. It’s far from a satisfactory outcome.

Good to hear the losing Scottish Cup final manager, who was left with some bears in Japanese forest for seven days by his parents, has been found safe and well, even if he has nothing to say for himself.

Re funding for legal etc expenses for the Res 12 campaign would it be possible for those who may not at present want a T-shirt to make a donation of the same amount, perhaps through the CQN books site?

Also, continued appreciation of what the Resolutioners have achieved thus far and of their untiring efforts for justice. HH

Took a drive up Northwest to a place called Mellon Udrigle yesterday and camped there. Great wee campsite on a guys croft, right on the beach. Beautiful fine white sand, with a stunning vista northwards, looking over the Summer Isles to Suillven and the Sutherland hills. Few tins for me, a bottle of prosecco for Mrs Hunderbirds. Eating a bbq’d fillet steak roll as the sun goes down. Magic

West coast of Scotland is unbeatable when the weather is good. It looked like Greece or Turkey .

Driving back south over the Kessock Bridge to do my now standard move, much to Mrs H’s shagrin. Wind the passenger window down and shout into the Caledonian Stadium. “Feck yooz ya cheatin’ bassas” :))))

VP – Rutherglen is in Glasgow mo chara.

GFTB – Coatbridge is more or less part of Ireland anyway chief, the 33rd county sure.

Glasgow encorpoates the entire country of Scotland as far as I’m concerned.

Also Glasgow is the best city in the world.

    Why?

Because Celtic is there, that’s why.

    Unique.

  15. Just seen the draw for the old Euro Sweepstakes. Whilst my late father (knocked down fatally when I was just 23) was English and my grandfather (dead before I was even in the womb) was Irish Ive never thought of myself as anything other than 100% Scottish. But financial gain obviously trumps everything so delighted that my hopes and dreams rest with Martins Fenian Army!

VP – Lol God bless the Celtic Republic of Rutherglen.

    Is that alright?

GFTB – All joking aside – the Celtic support stood up to a giant, the Establishment in Scotland, and defeated the bigoted entity.

Now thon new club is like a wee Jack Russell, nipping at our ankles every now and then.

Pride is a sin, however yous can all be forgiven for being proud of the Celtic Football Club.

That magnificent arena is a testament to the greatest achievement of the Irish diaspora, anywhere in the world.

  19. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    SFTB,

Opposition and intolerance are varying degrees of the same thing, intolerance being the more extreme version. The problem for the law is where does opposition become intolerance.

A wee example, being violently opposed to something is intolerance.

Orangism has through the years become less intolerant of Catholicism evidenced by the fact that being married to a catholic no longer excludes a Protestant from joining or being a member of the orange lodge, yet we still consider the ludge a sectarian organisation, their own mission statement identifies a claim that they are tolerant of all faiths. So oppose appears to be enough to be sectarian, no ? :)
