Getting buy-in from senior players

1079

Delighted to see Brendan Rodgers is down to business at Lennoxtown, three weeks before the players return for preseason training. It’s interesting that he arranged an early opportunity to meet Scott Brown over a meal, and that this was made public.

Getting buy-in from senior players was one aspect of the job Ronny Deila allegedly didn’t achieve. The rights and wrongs of this can wait for Ronny’s autobiography, although you may wish to express an outsider’s opinion. All that matters to Brendan is that no one is able to speculate about the same issue on his watch.

There’s not much a manager can do three weeks before training starts than eat dinner with the captain, scout players and watch videos. I expect Brendan to have seen every minute of every Celtic game last season by the time players get back; there is lots to learn. In particular, what went wrong at the back to a team which broke defensive records in each of the previous two campaigns. You may wish to express an outsider’s opinion.

Those in the know warned us that blue collar crime is particularly difficult to prosecute, and so it’s transpired. Only Craig Whyte now faces trial in the Rangers fraud case, which saw remaining charges against Duff and Phelps’ administrators David Whitehouse and Paul Clark dropped at the High Court in Glasgow this morning. It’s far from a satisfactory outcome.

Good to hear the losing Scottish Cup final manager, who was left with some bears in Japanese forest for seven days by his parents, has been found safe and well, even if he has nothing to say for himself.

  3. Had nostalgic trip back to Glasgow yesterday. Took trip on subway. Got out at Hillhead. Strolled up University avenue and University gardens. Found my old faculty/college building. Carried on past the library and down to the students union. Remembered the sixties when a Celtic supporters bus went from there in late sixties. Back to city centre and lunched in Pavone Italian restaurant in Princes Square centre.

Seems like you had a good day? Il Pavone is my restaurant of choice in the city centre . However this will lead to a debate perhaps, Glasgow is also my first choice for a day out when the sun shines.

CQN Travel Advice Line – help requested.

Hi – we (me, Mrs, Miss and Wee BGFC) have 3 nights to fill at the end of our holiday in southern Germany at the start of July.

Looking at Lake Garda in Italy as a strong possibility – any CQN recommendations for which town to stay in? Probably looking for a relaxing 3 days, rather than action-packed.

Probably mid / south end – we have to get to Milan for mid-day flight on the day we leave

    Any thoughts appreciated :-)

  9. JMCORMICK, yes, had a great day. Sun was shining, streets full of Glaswegians enjoying themselves. Found myself in the Oriental Bar at far end of Argyll street. Old fashioned small Gasgow pub with many of the older generation being entertained by a duo of pensioners – one on drums and the singer, other on hi tech accordion and electronic gizmos. Lots of old pre-pop numbers with singers from audience, and bingo in the interval !

  14. Just logged back in to discover that God is toying with me and I have drawn England – naaaaawwwwwww!

BGFC – Bardolino on SE side of Garda. 93 miles and approximately 2 hours from Milan, Linate Airport. Brings back fond memories of Italia 90. Nice area. You may, however, want to be on the other side. Therefore, Saló (never been there) which is 72 miles and 90 mins from Milan Linate airport. Enjoy as lake Garda is beautiful and has some great lightning storms.

Offer the t-shirts to other supporters in their teams colours then , that way we could see what kind of support we get from fans of the other clubs .

    Think that it’s a Jewish originally,muchaho.

Been to the Jewish ghetto in Rome, also in Prague. Interesting places.

Then obviously there was the ghetto in Poland.

The five points district in New York, Irish and Italian.

Things tend to be hijacked though, as the years go by.

Couldn’t post God bless the working class Fenians, because unemployment is rife in the districts nowadays.
