Going one better next season

943

We had a special night at the Celtic Supporters’ Association’s 67th Annual Rally last night.  It was great to see our two treble winning captains: Tom Boyd giving praise to the giant of the European game, Billy McNeill.

I had a chat with Scott Brown, who received his Association Player of the Year award.  A day before he collects his fourth consecutive league championship trophy you’d think he would afford a moment of satisfaction, but he’s not happy this isn’t a treble winning season.  The events at Hampden last month have left an open wound.  All he could talk about was going one better next season.

Before you leave for the game tomorrow remember to bring along some change to buy a Ronny Roar badge to raise funds for the work of your Foundation.  See you there.

I remember listening to Clyde the following season. We had just beating Oldco and think Provan suggested Celtic should play a weakened side the following week against Hearts because they were challenging for second place.Fraser Wishart made a huge fuss stating that he’d be appalled by a ream deliberately trying not to win the game. I sent an email from Mrs TGCW’s email address saying that the final game of the previous season had such a scenario, what was his views on that? Provan and I think Walker confronted him on this and he struggled big style.

  3. Celtic Football Club will be presented with the Scottish Premiership Football League trophy tomorrow.

Four League Titles in a row.

    The club’s 46th.

    Let’s enjoy it.

    As we always do.

    Wish I could be there.

But I have been in the past.

    It’s always a special day.

That’s the best in a 2-horse race, you will get a better price in 90mins on both games for a Motherwell win but over the 2 games that’s the best price the bookies will give you, Sevco are 5/6 favourites over the 2 games, keep your cash and just enjoy them struggling against Barracloughs Belters

  6. 3/1 Motherwell to win at the huns, you’ll probably get better odds on betfair closer the time for Motherwell to win outright

I do. They are amazingly smart at pretending otherwise if they are not and I don’t see why they’d waste their time if they weren’t. Finally ‘we’ wouldn’t let them if they weren’t.

“If so …why the delay thus far ?”

Bear in mind my toys are out the cot just now, so I these words from can can be believed. The delay has not all been Celtic. I’ll leave the other three to expand on that if they wish. That is not to say it is our fault either but we can take some responsibility on that.

Quonno: It’s been on the cards. At our school’s graduation mass last Monday the majority of students were wearing YES badges. They also wore them around the school with nobody objecting. Times have changed indeed, for the better.

I don’t know what age you are.

However, I remember being in the Pro Cathedral in Dublin in 1959 and being told from the pulpit that keeping company with a non Catholic was a matter for the Bishop, who I think was called McQuade.

It would be around the time that Dr. Noel Brown was being denounced from the pulpit for preaching dangerous communist heresy for wanting a British style Health Service in the Republic.

    Changed days indeed.

I’d be quite happy to see Sevco in the playoffs every year and failing to get past the third playoff tie. A kind of Karma meets groundhog day, meets everlasting hell. Sweeeeeeeet.

Wishart struggles wi any form of argument which runs against his favourite team. You may have noticed.

As a senior union rep,he should be dealing with each case on its merits. He canny do that, compromised by his love of a team that don’t exist.

Meantime,he is getting a shedload of money from his members. Most of whom earn less than him.

I recall mobilising the troops against a useless union in the nineties. Scottish football should do the same.

  17. No one in the Hibs team impressed much today.

Dylan done o.k in the deep lying midfield role….although I would like to have seen him impose himself more on the game further up the park.

Scott Allan roasted Ricky foster twice…but hey, who couldnae.

Just a shame Cummings scored, because I was about to come on here and slate Hibs rotten. I think the hives might still be on the Easter road pitch as we speak and still struggling to score

  18. The young forward player at Motherwell, that we have been linked with, his name escapes me…. Not sure if I would play him from the start…. I fancy Motherwell going with big Sutton up top, with wee skippy in the hole behind the target man.

  19. Craigellachie10 on

    Ruggyman

Spot on, don’t think the ibrox defence will cope with the younger Sutton and skippy is the perfect guy to pick up the pieces.

That said Motherwell will probably concede maybe worth betting on 3 goals or more in the matches?

Has Fraser Wishart ever commented on Alexander Tonev’s situation whether Tonev was a member of Scottish or English Union of players, Frazers lack of backing didn’t strike me as a “shop steward”

Under normal circumstances Lasley would see to that. Interesting to see if he plays with his usual ‘enthusiasm’ next week.

One or two murderwell players might see themselves in with a chance of a transfer to the dark side if mullet takes them up.

Correct. But by his allegiance should he be voted out,or his members join another Union.

He’s not representing them,he’s representing his fitba club. And being handsomely paid for so doing.

Fraud,IMO. Punishable by a boot in the members by a member, and a mass walkout.

  25. prestonpans bhoys on

While out walking the dug bumped into a Hibee doing the same. He was back from Easter Rd and obviously not too happy, we talked about the big liar , this whole setup is for one club, I said. He left with nodding heed….

Celtic didn’t own his contract. Villa did. He wasn’t a member of Wisharts union.

Which is why Logan had his legal fees paid by the union, and Tonev didn’t.

I didn’t know that but as a Union representative any decent union rep would have stood up for a fellow pro especially in such a nonsense “he said no he said” case, Wisharr disappointed me as an union rep in that case, thought Tonev was hung out to dry whatever Union he belongs too
