You and I have been doing this long enough to remember this place in meltdown at the prospect of Celtic signing a player from another SPL club. Domestically sourced talent was regarded as unimaginative, cheap, even. Contrast this with the utter joy when we signed Koki Mizuno, who was full-on exotic, but built for finer things then competitive football.
At 29, Aberdeen’s Irish international midfielder, Jonny Hayes is certainly unimaginative, and may be comparatively cheap, but he’s also a low-risk option for Celtic, who will know what they could get (and what they will not get) from the player.
With Patrick Roberts due to report to Manchester City on his return from holiday, Celtic are short of options for right-mid, with the first Champions League qualifier only five weeks away. The manager will view this gap in his squad as an unnecessary risk to next season’s objectives.

I am not sure who writes the articles on the right of CQN Post pages ” Number Seven, Paddy Come Home ” etc but I really enjoy what I imagine is the tongue-in-cheek imitation of the MSSM style of giving an eye-catching headline which is only very slightly supported in the actual article…….even down to the ` You read it here first, folks` kind of claim.
Well done to the author (s) whom I suspect is, initially, a Very Fine Rebel.

Interesting item on Italian radio re the British people having to wait until after the Election ( and even then ,possibly never ,it being all rather sensitive ) to learn the contents of the Government commissioned Report re the overseas funding of the jihadi obscurantist nut jobs.. Makes you wonder
As it seems to be something of a Celtic Quiet News day, let me offer this for possible debate:
The other day, The Timreaper suggested that Stuart Armstrong was `Celtic`s best player or at least in the top three.` That got me thinking so I give you my assessment:
Top drawer: Brown, Tierney; Dembele.
Second level: Gordon, Simunovic,Rogic,Armstrong,McGregor,Griffiths.
Bottom Drawer ( but still very good): Forrest *, Sinclair,Izaguirre,Svietchenko, Lustig,Boyata **.
Others such as Ralston, Kouassi etc , too early to judge.
* On his day, Top Drawer but has the inconsistency prevalent in most wingers;
** He has been Top Drawer of late but his early performances have left a kernel of uncertainty in my mind which is still being eroded.
JJ
PS ….and it is cheerio for now from me for now.
…..and on a solid shelf above all those ` Drawers` , Brendan Rodgers.
SoT,
If you take it further along….into conspiracy territory….who here gains?

Oops RoDgers !
Martin Samuel of the Daily Mail might not be everyone’s cup of tea,his paper too.
But…
He has two articles today, one with snippets of opinion on various sports matters, the other on the CL final,Ronaldo in particular.
In the first,he is very complimentary about The Invincibles.
In the second,he somehow works in the words-“Hail,hail! The Celts are here!” and “For we only know that there’s gonna be a show!”
Take a bow,that man!!!

The report will almost definitely be top secret confidential and buried for 100 years due to “security implications”
FOI will not apply and questions will be actively discouraged

A bit harsh on Sinclair

Level 1 – Gordon, Tierney, Brown, Armstrong, Sinclair, Dembele. They will always play if fit.
Level 2 – Lustig, Simunovic, Boyata, Rogic, Forrest. Will play more often than not.
Level 3 – Sviatchenko, McGregor, Griffiths, Gamboa, Bitton. The squad players who will play a significant amount of games.
Level 4 – Izaguirre, Toure, Eboue, Henderson, GMS, De Vries, Ajer, Aithcison, Johnstone, Ralston. Make up the squad, use occasionally.

Both Labour and Libs are on that now.
Hearing reports of May cutting 20,000 police officers in the last few years, 1,000 of them armed officers.
And she wants to blame the internet…..nothing to do with selling arms to lunatics then?
Crazy stuff.
These tories are quite happy to put the public at risk while they have shares in arms companies.
They should be chased.
I hope people wake up quickly.

No sure giving our players levels isn’t a masonic thing…..;-))

Who is in the knicker drawer?

James McClean would be an outstanding signing for Celtic.
Far better footballer than Jonny Hayes, and a Celtic fanatic.

The Griff in the 3rd rank?
The guy is a prolific goalscorer, promotion i think:)

The Green Man says SACK THE Board on 5th June 2017 10:26 am
He only starts when Dembele is injured. He’s a squad player, a very good one, but a squad player who will play a lot of games, like McGregor and Sviatchanko.
I would say my level 1 and level 2 guys make up our strongest starting 11 under BR, level 3 are the squad players who make significant contribution to the team.
THELURKINTIM
Aye,I know. But I’ve always read right-wing papers like the Mail and the Telegraph as a way of knowing my enemy. Bear in mind there are a lot more tories here than back home.
It means that when I listen to some eejit spouting off,I have some idea of his sources and can politely explain why he’s talking gash.
The top-selling newspapers are all right-wing. It’s no surprise that people form their opinions based on what they read. If I know what they’ve read,I can explain why they are wrong to believe it.
Sometimes it works, more often it doesn’t. But it makes them think about their sources, and that’s good enough for me.

The fastest footballer in England, bar none.
We can always do with more speed.
My comment is null and void if we sign Patrick Roberts, obviously.
Hayes is quick, not as fast as McClean though, nobody is.
Another reason why I’m against signing Hayes, or Boyce for that matter, is they try too hard when they play against Celtic.
McClean would run through brick walls for the green & white.
Guaranteed.

I try and keep up with him on twitter,he’s dead easy to listen to.
I’d believe the news if he read it to me.
Professional footballers should always try their hardest and give their best when playing. Even if playing against Celtic. Anything else is cheating. Criticising a player for trying hard against Celtic is silly. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Paul Hartley and Barry Robson are 2 recent examples of players who I hated when they played against Celtic because they tried so hard. As for Craig Gordon coming up for that last minute corner to try and snatch a draw for Hearts. Hated him. …but they all did very well at Celtic.
WHATISTHESTARS
Spot on,bud. We can hardly complain about certain players seeming to have “a bad game” when they play against another Glasgow side and criticise others for not doing similar against us.
Rangers-leaning players should be expected to try their utmost against us,that is obvious. But so should everyone else. Anything less is simply cheating their manager, their club, their fans-and ultimately their profession.
Plus, play well against Celtic and you might just get the move of your dreams!!!
16 Roads…would you be happier if Boyce and Hayes dropped their performance levels against us?
And James McClean, how would you expect him to play against Celtic?
I’d rather not win if it’s down to,even in part, the opposition not giving their all.In fact, that’s not even winning, not in the real sense,it’d be a hollow achievement.I moan about the hawners the huns got/get because it’s wrong, not becuase I want it for us.
Win fair and square or don’t win at all.Yi canny kid yirsel.
