Hayes, Koki Mizuno and the right-mid gap

1491

You and I have been doing this long enough to remember this place in meltdown at the prospect of Celtic signing a player from another SPL club. Domestically sourced talent was regarded as unimaginative, cheap, even. Contrast this with the utter joy when we signed Koki Mizuno, who was full-on exotic, but built for finer things then competitive football.

At 29, Aberdeen’s Irish international midfielder, Jonny Hayes is certainly unimaginative, and may be comparatively cheap, but he’s also a low-risk option for Celtic, who will know what they could get (and what they will not get) from the player.

With Patrick Roberts due to report to Manchester City on his return from holiday, Celtic are short of options for right-mid, with the first Champions League qualifier only five weeks away. The manager will view this gap in his squad as an unnecessary risk to next season’s objectives.

That’s not what I’m trying to say.

Both Hayes and Boyce always seemed to put more effort in when playing against us, for some strange reason.

That Boyce trying to get Scott Brown sent off – also I recall Stefan Johansen trying to wipe him out near the finish of a cup game at Hampden a few seasons ago – obviously must have been trying to wind SJ up as well.

It doesn’t matter anyway as neither of them are Celtic class imho.

James McClean would probably refuse to even play against Celtic if the scenario were to present itself.

What was yous do if yous ever had to play in a game against Celtic?

Could you score a goal against Celtic?

    Not I.

We are in danger of wandering into Scott McDonald territory here.

I would give 100% but not in that particular game!

(Never said I was perfect. )

16Roads…that ‘for some strange reason’ you mentioned can only be because either they hate Celtic or perhaps it’s because they are trying very hard to impress…

And could I score against Celtic? You bet I could…no problem.

And J McC would refuse to play against us?…he would be a poor professional if he were to do that

I’ve got a *insert injury* that week. ;)

  5. Interesting to see Patrick Roberts “unavailable due to injury” for the England Under 21s squad for the Euros.

Next season we may finally see a hun player bless himself as he enters the field of play…how will the morons react to that? Moronically I suppose…

    Fair enough.

I’m not overly concerned with new signings at this stage anyway – keeping the present squad intact is the main objective.

We first have a hill to climb in these ECL qualifiers – once those games are taken care of -work on strengthening the squad will begin.

    Laters.
