CELTIC go into this afternoon’s Premiership encounter against Ross County knowing they have never lost in 16 top-flight league meetings with the Highlanders.

The Hoops have conceded just eight goals and have kept nine clean sheets in their previous 12 matches against the Dingwall outfit.

County have never won in the league in the east end of Glasgow. losing 4-0 on their most recent trip in September when James Forrest (2), Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele netted the goals.

Their one win over the champions came in the League Cup semi-final on January 31 2016 when they created a sensation with a 3-1 victory at Hampden.

Gary Mackay-Steven scored inside 60 seconds, but the game turned on its head shortly afterwards when Efe Ambrose was sent off and Jim McIntyre’s men levelled with the resultant penalty-kick.

Erik Sviatchenko, who had just arrived at the club, was thrown on for his debut as Ronny Deila tried to reorganise his 10-man side, but it was to no avail as the minnows upset the odds by scoring two more goals.

Leigh Griffiths is hoping to make his comeback today after his two-month absence with a calf injury. He scored a magnificent free-kick goal to give Brendan Rodgers’ men a 1-0 victory in Dingwall in November.

Defender Jozo Simunovic will be missing as he serves the second of a two-match suspension.

The visitors will also be without on-loan midfielder Jamie Lindsay, who is ineligible against his parent club.
