I asked Archie Macpherson to speak about Jock Stein at CQN11, to mark the 50th anniversary of Jock’s appointment as Celtic manager, and then stayed quiet as he spoke. One of the points he made was that Jock would have a news plan ahead of a big game.
Good news would be held back until a few days before the game, giving fans and players a lift, to ensure maximum impact. Bad news could break at any time, but it would have to fight for column inches. As an operator, he is still worth studying. Celtic should plan to dominate this week’s news accordingly.
Apart from that horrible game away to Legia, Ronny Deila has not been to a sell-out Celtic game in a large stadium, and even that was only 30,000. It’s possible he’s never even played before a large sell-out crowd, so you can be sure he’ll not be short of people telling him what to expect, and how to prepare for Hampden on Sunday.
There are some obvious pitfalls for him to avoid, in particular to ensure his players are not provoked into retaliation, but taking too much advice would be a mistake (will not stop us offering plenty advice). He’s spent all season playing and preparing one way, anything which gets in the way of this will only put him off his game. The manager needs to employ a filter this week, tell everyone he’s got the situation covered and get on with the game.
Loving the way recipients of Rangers EBT loans have been asked about an advert dealing with the consequences of their loans, but are not actually asked about the loans themselves. These guys only agree speak on the understanding they are not asked about their loans, none of which are or will be repaid.
I accept that if the loan recipient is being asked about yesterday’s charity match, or some other football game, there’s no place to ask him about his loan, but these guys are regularly commenting on the consequences of their loans, without ever having to deal with the awkward question.

Off course they can be.Utter nonsense. It is not a “Disciplinary”meeting. The SFA want to know about the power he holds at the Hun.All they have is his share holding.Nothing for MA to answer to.He can loan them as much as he wants.Nothing illegal in that.He is entitled to secure his loans by anyway he sees fit.Again nothing illegal in it.The only way he can fall foul of the SFA is if he goes beyond his 10%.The conference call will probably take 10 minutes, because I am sure MAs lawyers will be well briefed in anything the amateur SFA throw his way.

Well it depends on your perspective.
Hitherto Dons still copulate with sheep.
One half of the Old Firm insist on taking it up the jacks so I would refer to them as the infirm

I know he has a dig.Again,I really like this kid.All I am saying is,he will be up against some of the nastiest(Elbows,Black),that he has faced. So many future stars have said their first,Celtic/Hun game has flown by them.He has only played a handful of games,he is only a kid,a long time for him to get more “Street wise/experience”than Sunday. On the bench for me.

Thanks for that. Its not unknown for me to walk past the brewery, from st andrews to tayport. I might have to stop and get the bus home sometime

An apology to TonyDonnelly67 and Alfie Noakes?
Good evening Turkeybhoy, just a quickie before I hit the sack…
I’ll have a bash at a line up for Sunday:
Gordon
Matthews Denayer Van Dijk Izaguirre
Forrest Brown Bitton Stokes
Griffiths Commons
That has the Stokes-Izaguirre partnership running their right back ragged, and Commons floating in and around the edge of their box, shooting on sight, with Griffiths sniffing around for the rebounds as well as weaving his own magic with that world class left foot. And Commons can drop a wee bit deeper at times allowing Stokes to come more infield, pulling their defence out of shape.
I’m not convinced about Forrest wide right, so I suppose playing Matthews ahead of Lustig (or vice versa) could even be an option. I was worried that might be too safe and defensive an option, but perhaps Lustig will get that hat-trick in this match.
Guidetti hasn’t done enough to earn a place in a fixture which could overwhelm him (other than shouting his mouth off and setting himself up for a mega-fail), so he starts on the bench. I think Griffiths will see this as a real opportunity to prove his worth as a Celtic striker, and he has the quality and confidence to deliver the goods.
As long as we don’t sit back and show the second division team too much respect, we should have enough in the tank to win comfortably by 4 or 5 goals. But how many times can we hit the woodwork this week?!
Think Mike Ashley has got a more pressing apointment at Westminster tomorrow…

You’re correct. Liam has a 6-1 win this season at Ashley Astrodome, Milngavie under his belt.
I’d have no worries about his composure this week-end. To be honest, I’m more concerned that Nir Bitton can avoid being suckered into a bad lunge.
Bye the way, thats just my opinion of Henderson starting. If RD plays him,I trust the manager. He could be a sensation, and score a couple of goals.I hope he does.
All I was saying is,we dont have too many who have been over this course and distance.
Experience is a lot in this fixture.Even though they are rank.
Turkeybhoy,
fair enuff…..again i reiterate…..for him to progress as a footballer…..he needs to be exposed to opponents at their worst to progress…..who knows, he may well be the streetsmart middy we need…..

Mike Ashley has been charged with breaking multiple SFA rules and you think this should be dealt with via a conference call ? I think it’s you that’s talking Utter Nonsense and is possibly an indication of the kind of company’s you’ve worked for ? Maybe we should deal with all charges via conference call ? maybe you’ll advance onto Skype conference calls eventually.

I have to answer this before bed.
So you think a game at a training park can even come close to a semi final at Hampden?.
“Ashley Astrodome”as you call it,is a million miles away.
An Israeli international is more likely to lose his head.I give up.
Night all.

Disgusting fat pig of a man!!!
Now whers ma doll and pin??
Personally, I don’t think any Celtic fans should attend on Sunday. A message to the Scots football authorities by our absence.
However, I anticipate that fans will attend. That being the case, I suggest that when we score, there is no euphoria displayed as in major games in the past- rather the polite clap and restrained cheer of the overwhelming favourites, the far bigger team, scoring against minnows. That would be amusing….
GM, shows you how much I know about their team:_)
I hope most of those you mention are playing with the exception of the painter. TChen again, he could be first up for an early bath.
Is there a price on Black being let out his cage??

GLASGOW Rangers are the same team now as they always were and will be on Sunday. Think of it like holy communion where the unleavened bread is just the symbolism
Maggie,
Did i see Turkeybhoy make a 180 degree shift?…..that happens with open minded people…..not with blustering hunnery….gie it a rest…..i know for a fact he’s a Tim, just by his posts…..or else he’s that Darren Brown chap…..;-)))
