Important takeaways from Uefa comment on Postecoglou

364

Today’s news cycle is dominated by comments from a Uefa spokesperson who confirmed Celtic have applied for an exemption for Ange Postecoglou from holding a Uefa Pro Licence.  There are important takeaways from this.

Ange’s signature must be on this application.  This could only happen if he had permission from Yokohama, his current employer, and contract terms had been agreed.

Exemption will be granted, this facility is there to provide for candidates like Ange.  The Pro Licence requirement is there to ensure standards in the European game, not to act as a closed shop.  Celtic are pursuing a similar Work Permit application to allow him to take up employment in this country.  This will occupy another day’s news cycle, but Ange will meet this requirement too.

Yes, Ange will not be able to take charge of a Celtic game for weeks, but our June schedule has been kind in this respect.  There is nothing to stop him planning a squad or backroom team for next season, I expect he is at least a week into this process.  If he’s good enough, the hassle getting him here is worth it.

Pretty gutted at the booing when England players took the knee at the Riverside Stadium last night.  Must be horrible for the players.  Hard to believe we are in 2021.

  1. Eddie Howe must have given the board very strong indications / commitment he would take the job – for Celtic not to have a bank of managers interviewed and narrowed down to 3-4 candidates is absolute negligence given the situation with the playing staff.

    Where is the DoF??

Agree with earlier comments on Ange not being able to attract players – no one knows , no one, if he will be a good coach at this level – but everyone knows is a HUGE risk. I’ll still be surprised if we really take this risk!!

I know its not popular but at this stage – I’d take Martin Oneil and Roy Keane until we get our house in order!

We need a rebuild and they can attract players and know the requirements.

  2. As I warned, the Age of Anglicisation is upon us.

Paul 67 criticising how an England team was booed by their own supporters. I hope they will all be offered counselling after such a shattering experience. Meanwhile in the real world, opposition leaders in Myanmar and Nicaragua ( both women ) have been imprisoned.

  3. The thought of another cobbled together management team is not filling me with optimism. We’ve seen this movie before.

    Hope I’m wrong

  4. Welcome to the mother of all omnishambles!

Never mind wheels are in motion, well very slowly in motion, to acquire the Antipodean Ronny D.

If plan A was Howe then plan B was Harkin and Maresca, despite what P67 claimed the other day.

This desperate panic stricken shot at the moon must be plan F for FUBAR!

This guy would walk across Russia for this job. He must feel like the guy who won the lottery twice in a week!

There is absolutely nothing in his resume that should get him an interview for our job, let alone be given it.

To me this smacks very much as a Lawwell father and son production.

To go from a manager with the record and working experience of Howe to AP is so left field it’s in a different continent let alone ballpark!

The current CEO has only days left in the job, allegedly, so why is he being tasked with making zoom calls to the other side of the world to secure a guy currently 9th in his league?

This suggests to me that the Lawwells really seem to think that they own CFC and can do whatever they like. We have an absentee major shareholder and a board comprised exclusively of PL picks ( yes I said picks). It looks increasingly that the new CEO is going to turn out to be Peter’s tea boy. Perhaps P67 could use the time before our Aussie saviour arrives to find out what plans Peter has for the future.

The way he has decimated the club over the past year suggests he’s either truly incompetent or deliberately running down the value of the company that employs him. Could it be that he hopes one day to acquire the club for himself and some friends?

Now that would be a story worthy of the title “Celtic Quick News” !

    Any thoughts Paul?

I feel a lot more than 10,000 would have turned up at Ibrox on that day anyway. Those who didn’t get into the ground would have assembled outside and then still made their way through the city to George Sq., along with some of those who had been inside, with the same inevitable outcomes, por cierto.

    …………..

I posted as much yesterday. Just before I Posted I read that Sevco had asked for 10,000 fans to be inside Ipox for FOUR Days in a Row to ” Celebrate”.

Although The Scot Gov and Police Scotland SHOULD have acted far more strongly etc, at least the Scot Gov told the Huns to take a run and jump…” FOUR Feckin Days ” ?..George square Riots…Mulitplied it by FOUR ?

*aye big mhan in 1997, after we lost out on Bobby Robson the second worse thing to happen in Hiroshima landed on our doorstep with no back room staff so we promoted our newly hired reserve team manager to be his assistant.

I think we need to adopt the main protagonists from Wag the Dog to get out of this shit show, instead of snake oil we are being “sold” curate eggs, by the dozen.

This is Paul’s site, a platform for all, so he does what a) he thinks b) and to keep his ties/position., it’s his site after all.

CQN, at he start, first quiz in Jury’s Inn, was a bit like an up and coming Indy band (no not the SNP) who had principals, direction and wanted to offer something different, who once became popular and well off dIscarded all that to be mainstream, bit like U2.

I do like the new away strip, loved it since Sheff Utd wore it last year.

Anarkali is indeed the best curry. That’s twice I’ve agreed with Martim1980, that’s not me being precious or pretentious just merely highlighting (predictive text had bingo gating) that despite all our differences there are things we can all agree on. COYBIG

People rushing to defend Brian Wilson despite him being part of the board who turned a blind eye to the re emerge of the team playing out of Ibrox and his comments that the huns should have been allowed to have thousands of fans in their stadium on flag day. Does he really think they would have been happy with this and not turned up in Glasgow to unleash their venom on the city?

They will be telling us next that Bankier is a really good guy and also has Celtic’s interests at heart.

  13. What in the name of god are they doing to our club . How any celtic minded person can still back this board is beyond me. What a shambles,

    The Huddle

The board have mismanaged the whole process and are now scrambling about on their knees to get someone in the door. AP looks like a desperate attempt to get someone in and you can bet the same due diligence was done on him as was done on Lennon in the shower. The Pro License issue was raised by a journalist on Twitter. As for our board I’ve had 4 emails at least asking for money but seen only one telling us Eddie Howe isn’t coming to Celtic…they are disconnected from us and inept and that’s why I believe this issue wasn’t noticed by them. Previous experience tells us how bad they are at forward planning or planning of any sort.

    Godfather II

If you were to ask me where Godfather III stood in my personal ranking?

    I used to say …

“I would first have to check how many movies have been made in the history of film.”

However , I heard someone last week say that G3 suffered because of the other two being so good.

If G3 was a stand alone film it may have been treated more sympathetically .

  25. I’ve been on this site for about 16 years or so and at times it was a breath of fresh air compared to what the smsm was telling us, however, it is now hard work and the proof is in how many good posters have left.

I blame all this deterioration tae nommé de plumes, I know I use one and also on other Celtic sites that allow them, it’s a habit I developed while putting lines on at hame and just continued over here.

I know, I know the likes of James Forrest uses his own name but possibly that’s because he has a blog tae promote.

Now we all know there are hunterlopers on here and they’re no that hard tae spot even those using names close tae decent posters or other Celtic minded titles.

Some of the other sites with this criterion have also been infiltrated with this low life, I blame the schools.

As I said I use nommés on other sites and on one it used the same server as fascists fascist at the time which I ended up on even with hoop as one of my names.

That lasted until I posted “Big Jock Knew” and then continued with “wallace that is as he has just confessed that Jock Stein was the country’s finest manager”, was kicked off for that.

I’m also on other sites, and not just Celtic ones, where you use just not your real name but a profile of yourself as well. There have been occasions where some posters were kicked off after they were outed as mischief making huns, but not too many and at times, especially right now, the debates can be a bit heated but soon calm down as respect is given to others opinions.

I was on one such site and reading a post when it dawned on me that I knew who it was and only because it mirrored a similar anti PL post, and nothing to do with Celtic but his previous positions, on here.

I opened up his profile, found his real name, where he was educated, where he used tae live and now was staying in Sydney.

I have never mentioned any of the above except tae call him a Kirkie ex-pat, which he denied, and maybe that was him spoofing but the rest didnae seem tae be.

I understand that Paul, who knows who we all are, is quite happy to have other supporters on here and does not want CQN tae be a closed shop like some hun sites, but the scheitd he takes is unforgivable especially when the keyboard hard men would never utter such drivel at the ground or in pubs, not for fear of retribution but utter embarrassment as how thick they come across.

for instance, I recently posted a timeline between the Big Mhan being sought out and his joining us, I also mentioned his record, SC win notwithstanding, was not that great as an example of the faith the support had back then on his appointment even though he had been with only 2 clubs previously and they could be classed as provincial.

One of the responses sarcastically had a go at me for going back over 50 year and would we be European trophy winners in 2 years.
