This time last year there was far too much talk about trebles on these pages. Celtic were flying in all three competitions, having established a lead in the league, and were heading for a League Cup semi-final against Falkirk. Falkirk were beaten but it took a late Anthony Stokes goal to make the game safe for Celtic. The script was written; a final against Kilmarnock, who always bottled it against Celtic in Glasgow, and a successful run in the Scottish Cup was all that stood between us and the fourth treble in our history.
I’ve lost count of how many such trebles we’ve look forward to. Football has a way of promising lots but it takes an exceptionally good and consistent team to win both cup competitions, as well as the league. More often than not, great and dominant teams don’t win the treble.
Celtic are a great and exciting team but they have not been nearly consistent enough to win the treble this season. We have lost two from eight home games and two from seven away. Good enough to win the league but not to win two cups.
I watched a bit of St Mirren at home to Ross County before heading to Celtic Park last weekend. They were far from impressive but no less so than when we beat them by seven goals in the SPL four years ago. The following week the same team knocked us out of the Scottish Cup.
Sunday is one of the biggest games currently on the roster. Raise your game, Celtic.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Stay strong.
Gene, I have a bet that Montrose will have 2 sent off. They have picked up 1 yellow already, so I am feeling confident. By the way they are pure unadulterated pish, thats Sevco I’m talking about, Montrose slightly better.

Which bookie ? I couldn’t find any giving odds……
Well Gene, I’m bored its either that or porn and I’ve just been to confession. Thinking a bit more about it, ol Father John would forgive me quicker for watching porn then watching Sevco.
Watching ssn – has anyone got a link to an iain dowie translation app?

Cheers for the clarification. I thought it was every 2 years. Any particular reason why they’ve changed it from even to odd years?

Football tried to argue that the specificty of sport clause put football beyond EU law.
This was rejected by EU not sure which actual authority and they said cases would be dealt with on a case by case basis and this is a case the merits being addressed.
I had a wee bit of experience years ago of government cobtracting and observing EU fair competition rules and from this, whilst by no means an expert, felt the EPL were operating a cartel within the United Kingdom that prevented other UK footballing companies getting a bite at the cake.
Now if we became independent that would be harder to argue but the ” cross borders” argument used to stop exploration of the legal issues never convinced me given there is no border between the member countries of the Uk under the Uk parliament.
Game turned off. Sevco get a flukey goal just b4 the break. Montrose still have a 11 on the field, should have gone for one dismissal instead of two. Still plenty of time yet.
What’s the odds on a penalty for TFOD?
Can’t get the link.
I’ll leave it to the experts.hh

Norris is rubbish.
We’d be better with Mrs Norris, the janny’s cat at Hogwarts.

Shortbread has given as much if not more time in ‘Open All Mikes’ to the game at Ibrox than the one at Easter Road. Dundee United game hardly mentioned.
Sounded like Chico was wetting himself when he announced thems goal.

There’s audio commentary of the semi-final on BBC Alba.
Well, there was until Billy Dodds started summing something up there a wee minute ago in the half-time reports and Alba has gone to some Mike Oldfieldesque music instead, a big improvement on Dodds, to be fair.
c_f,
ICT on form are the stronger of the two, so Norris will be careful not to weaken the favs for the final.
Fix is in
Templeton could move to anyone, but he could only play before the summer for a club about to start a new season, such as clubs in the Nordic countries or Russia. Or maybe Brazil.
Len B…,
Oops yer right, wonder if I should ask P67 to remove the comment :o)
Now it’s a very pleasant-sounding lassie talking Gaelic.
And some children’s television. That Peppa is a dab hand at the old tongue. Puts me to shame.

Thank you for reply
I was just posting Gregory Ioannidis latest thought on the matter.
As you say “THANK YOU FRASER” :))
Goal ICT. 1-0.
Former Celt Michael Tidser scores a cracker for Morton.
The Sevco goal is being given as an O.G. even though I thought the Ref got the final touch.

World cup makes sense, not really sure why the believe it would clash with the Euro’s. Infact I’ve always wondered why the big major continental championships dont take place at the same time.
The major Championships are all over the place at the moment. Come to think of it I seem to remember FIFA discussing the possibility of scheduling them all at the same point in a calendar year.
I dont get why Africa feel the need to host the Nations Cup every 2 years. I think there are others that do the same but cant remember which ones. Having them every 2 years dilutes the importance of winning them or taking part even.
Hosting the Euros, Copa America, Asain Cup, Gold Cup, African Nations & the Nations Cup in Oceania at the same time of year would make perfect sense, especially for armchair viewers who could pick & choose tournaments and matches they want, no matter the competition. I can maybe
understand climate concerns but surely there must be somewhere in Africa suitable to host in June.
