  1. Thought the GAA match was a very poor game – only the closeness of the score and the atmosphere made it a spectacle.

Too many fouls and cheap shots – in comparison hurling really flows and is a far better spectacle.

    Just IMHO.

  2. So many opinions on so many fringe players. Glad we have the strength in depth . The future is green & white Ave Ave

“We badly missed the Bitton factor in front of defence”.

Watch Bitton at Barca’s 2nd goal.

  4. Good man, unless you have an unlikely and coincidental nom de blog (!) you’ll know the significance of the word Pomona? And a great penalty kick?

  5. Just reading back. Deary me.

Some people just seem to need a scapegoat when we don’t win.

Callum McGregor not good enough? I thought he was MOM today. If all our midfield players had his ball control, vision and passing we would have won the game. Why do you think he gets so many starts? BR clearly rates him above all those benched, in the stands and out on loan.

That’s a LOT of midfielders BTW.

  6. Glasgowbhoy

Yes I do remember Pomona. I even scored a penalty kick for them. In Orkney.

    Who you?

    Jim

  7. WITS: I am on the early Ryanair flight to Glasgow. Around 7am I think. Are you heading over?

Nás na Rí: wasn’t at game, virtually impossible to get a ticket. Any help for the replay would be greatly appreciated.

  8. Greenbingley

I also thought big Simounivic looked the part, our defence is so much better with Kolo T in it so hopefully Simo gets a wee injury free run

  9. Long day, just home and haven’t read back.

We were good enough to win half a dozen games today and in the second half especially we laid siege to the ICT goal. Unfortunately, not managing to convert any further chances came back to bite us.

    MOTM Their keeper.

  10. Yeah I thought so I might be the only person who had a photo of that penalty. A west endie, with a nom de blog that should give you the answer? Remember Wembley 98?

  11. EMUS

No way I’m watching it again but get the feeling…………its a negative?

Take two. on a different aspect ……………Celtic missed the Griffalo factor.

  12. Typical performance from Inverness, physical direct and desperate defending, again up there we failed to overcome this and lost to a last gasp goal. We were profligate in front of goal and could not defend a cross ball, maybe all the travel and the effects of losing & in Spain caught up with us, KT and SB apart we still have nobody who can tackle effectively.

If you are from East Lothian I know who you are. Hope all good with you. I am back in Glasgow after some time in Foreign Parts.

I think it was more the support who wanted a def middy

that was my point really, i don’t think he’s a fan of the defensive screen in midfield, i think he wants a midfield that defends and presses higher up the park rather than sitting, but thats a guess.

i hope he sees the need for it away in europe – i don’t think i’ll survive another night like the one in israel, but i’ll happily take the odd draw and loss in scotland if it means we’re playing like we did today

  15. January will be an interesting month for us, we will get to see what Brendan thinks we need to progress.

Coming off the back of the humping by Barca, a draw isn’t the end of the world by any means, especially at a venue where better CFC teams have struggled in the past.

Personally I think that we badly need people to help Scott Brown in the middle of the park!

Today yet again showed that with the ball we are very good and people are correct to say that on an other day we could have scored 4 or 5. However when we don’t score at least three, we seem to struggle to put teams away. Our defensive record has been poor this season, even before last Tuesday! We are not good enough to hold the ball for 90 minutes, so we need to be able to defend when required. When we don’t have the ball we only have Scott Brown who physically challenges for the ball and long term that is not enough, even in a poor league like Scotland!

We are so poor defensively that we might take another couple of big hidings in the CL because teams there will exploit our weaknesses! Obviously I hope that I’m proved wrong but it will be January before Brendan will get the opportunity to do something about our weaknesses!

  16. This team will come good,it’s only at the beginning of it’s arc and has more ahead of it than behind.I’d wager mistakes will lessen as Brendan’s ideas formulate more demonstrably and consistently.Patience is a valuable quality when building a team.

We don’t have an entitlement to win games. The opposition are allowed to try their best and score goals.Sometimes I get the feeling there’s supporters who look for negatives and have expectations of our players that outweigh their talents. The players at the top end of the scale do/will not play in Scotland in these times. So to expect faultless performances from our players is unrealistic.

I enjoyed watching us today, especially second half. Some of the attacking was a joy and on another day would have yielded more goals, but it didn’t and we move on.There were errors in our performance just like there has in all my time watching us.And there’ll be more to come, that’s football.

We’ll win the league scoring goals aplenty.Looking forward to it.

Well done ICT,a very valuable point against the country’s best.

  17. what we’ve also forgotten was that the team was beaten 7-0 on tuesday, it didn’t seem to have had a bad effect on the confidence of the group. for tierney to have a night like he had on tuesday and then put in a performance like that shows he has the mental strength to make it to the very top.

  18. Exslay

I was pleased with the way we played today particularly after Wednesday’s performance. Sometimes football throws up games like what we saw today. In my opinion this team will get better and stronger. The quicker we get a settled defence the better though.

  19. Jim, that’s me. Really good to see you posting, I rarely bother but I lurk regularly.

Hope all is good for you back in Glasgow, how long you been back through there?

    Remember the Gods of Glam?!

  20. mourinho is lamenting a lack of confidence in his united team, incredible when you think of who he’s talking about and who beat them over the last two games.

  21. 13 points from 15 is a great start all things considered. Plenty to be happy about.

Having said that the defence needs to improve significantly. At times we are all over the place. Gamboa and Sviatchenko were unbelievably bad today. Tierney should take the blame for the equaliser, giving away a nothing free kick that allowed them to load the box and start a spell of pressure. KT was great going forward but it was very naive, he will learn. 7 goals conceded from 5 league matches is very poor. We may get away with it in domestic football, but if we dont improve we will be humbled further in Europe.

  22. H.T.

I said earlier, sometimes that’s just what happens in football, it’s one of the reasons why we love it, but no so much so when it happens to your team.

A few blaming the defence, or some in the defence, but for me it’s a team game and on other day we could have easily scored 5. MCGregor, Tierney and Eric all hit the bar or post and as you say their keeper made some really good saves. It happens now and again.

I hope you enjoyed your day, I always prefer Dingwall to Inverness, that drives my Inverness supporting buddy in the work mad.

Onwards to 6 in a row I say.

  23. HT,

The signs are there for a very successful domestic season, come Christmas/New Year we will be flying

  24. Glazgowbhoy

6 years . Came back to Scotland 8n 2008 and my mum died a year later so nothing to keep me in Edinburgh especially as I was already working in the West. Still going to see the Bhoys when I can – heading to Gladbach by bus. Still loving my rock and roll ( and jazz) .

Tried to find you on Facebook (honest) but no joy. Found SC on FB but not for first time she rejected me!

    Jim

  25. Babasonicos 71.

Showed my wife your kind comments about me this morning. She didn’t recognise me. :-))))).

No, she said it was lovely of you to take the time to post that.

  26. JNP

Smashin wee day out. We decided to take the car because I managed to get DG’s girlfriend a ticket last night (also I’d have struggled to make work the morra if I’d gone with the mad squad!).

I do think the defence needs sorted, we’re losing too many goals but had we scored half the chances we created, we’d have been well out of sight.

    Keep well my friend.

  27. Was scared to ask about your mum, really sorry to hear that mate. I really mean that.

A big memory for me is you and glasgowghirl dancing to the Gods of Glam at Platform 1 many years ago now, a great night.

Didn’t know you had left Scotland though it doesn’t seem that long once I last saw you in leigh Griffiths favourite Tesco!

I believe you re fb, I’m not on it

    SC! Brave!

  28. TheTimReaper 8.32

    LMS ?

All kidding aside, I still think Kolo Toure was the reason we were a bit all over the place, Gamboa needs games, Erik not long back from injury……things are far better than we think

JNP we have some frailties but that’s Scotty Sinclair scored in every league he has donned the hoops, funny listening to Chris Sutton raving about him today,mi have said since his first game he reminds me of Sutton…..left the EPL on a bit of a downer after transfer didn’t work out, MON brought Chris up here, BR has done the same with Scott, just hope Rosie Webster enjoys living up here, by all accounts she was in Coatbridge the other week at her beauticians ???? True story by all accounts

  29. HT,

Ditto. The rest will cut each others throat. Gives Brendan the time to sus out our weaknesses and correct them
