Watched game on TV – I thought we played well despite the disappointing conclusion.

The new goalkeeper needs to improve otherwise he and GG will be battling out for understudy as Im pretty sure BR will bring in someone better than both of them. Which shouldn’t be too difficult imo.

McGreggor is a strange player sometimes I like him sometimes he looks awful. I preferred Liam Henderson… And think Armstrong if nurtured would be better.

Missed opportunity today… Complacency is now a serious threat.

Tourre proved his worth today … I suspect equaliser wouldn’t have happened on his watch. I love Erik but he’s too slow and small for the position he plays. However he has something that should be moulded in to right back.

  2. Emusanorphan……………..sorry for the late reply. Virgin media Ireland dropped BT sport a couple of months ago.

I agree with your comments on Erik

He is a decent reader and organizer but not big enough or fast enough to be a top centre back.

However, as he gets more experienced, this will hopefully make up for these two deficiencies.

I actually think he would make a good defensive midfielder.

    On our keepers.

Craig Gordon was very good when he first arrived, but he was also on a short term contract.

He then gets the security of a 3 year deal, but little competition and coincidentally his form drops from very good to good ( 9/10 to 7.5/10).It was a bit like Artur with Mark Brown , a very poor keeper imho, and Artur knew that no matter how indisciplined he was, he would still be No1 choice.

DDV is in a difficult position, as you can’t give a keeper the first 60 minutes or last 20, to settle in to a new club, but so far he hasn’t impressed.

I would bring Craig Gordon back until Xmas, and take stock then.

Inverness player (maybe) fouled a yard outside box – EBThompson says penalty.

Celtic v Aberdeen – Celtic player fouled on penalty spot – EBThompson says not a foul and anyway outside the box!

EBThompson – please go away. You add NOTHING except total guff.

  13. Word of the day

    dilettante

    dɪlɪˈtanteɪ,-ti/

noun: dilettante; plural noun: dilettantes; plural noun: dilettanti

    1. a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge.

synonyms: dabbler, potterer, tinkerer, trifler, dallier; amateur, non-professional, non-specialist, layman, layperson

“there is no room for the dilettante in this business”

    antonyms: professional

    archaic

a person with an amateur interest in the arts.

    Origin

mid 18th century: from Italian, ‘person loving the arts’, from dilettare ‘to delight’, from Latin delectare .

  14. As the old footballing adage goes, you learn a lot about CQNers in the face of adversity ;)

But in all seriousness, some calming of undergarments may be required.

Yesterday we had someone raging at the “unforgiveable” showboating at 2-1. I really am struggling to remember any showboating in the game whatsoever. Was hitting the woodwork showboating? Who knows.

    Various players labelled duds.

Brendan Rodgers labelled the Irish Tommy Burns, whose “mask” will be “ripped off”.

Celtic made enough chances yesterday to win two matches, we should not have dropped points. We should also not have conceded two goals. However, in the grand scheme of things we have seen much worse performances away to ICT, and we are still 3 points clear in the league with a game in hand after only 5 matches. I’d say that has been a very good start to the season.

  15. My old man said follow the van..

And don’t dilettante on the way….

    I said I’m no yer aunty. ;-)

  16. Morning all.

What happened yesterday I have witnessed countless times in 50+ years watching and supporting Celtic.

Leading by a single goal and bombarding the opposition with wave after wave of attacks, only to dicover that their goalie is having the game of his life and saving everything and also hitting the woodwork several times.

Then the inevitable sucker punch right at the end.

It was in the script, and I could see it coming.

    Bring on the Alloa!

    HH!!

  17. Henrik’s Helsingborgs side remain in the relegation play-off spot in the Allsvenkan. I’ve kept an eye out for the results of Henrik’s teams since he started out at Landskrona and then went on to Falkenbergs, and it’s not nice to see him struggling with Helsingborgs. In his defence, Helsingborgs have had financial problems for quite a while now and he is operating with a very much downsized squad compared with the team that Celtic played in the CL qualifiers under Neil Lennon.

  18. There are days when you just have to laugh and yesterday was one of them. Watched the highlights and we won 6-0. Heads up and move on.

I concur. We should’ve won convincingly. We didnae.

This time last season we were in exactly the same position after 5 games – 4 wins and a draw. The fixtures have been much harder this season and we are top of the league; we were behind at the same stage last season.

Some of the over-reaction beggars belief. Rodgers is building a new team so there will be hiccups along the way.

I sometimes wonder about mind state of those who cannot accept anything other than a convincing win for Celtic. They seem to be either very needy or are developing a WATP attitude in their expectations of our team.

  22. I enjoyed the game yesterday and felt it was a game of two different approaches. We had wave and wave of attack and played some good stuff and could have won comfortably but Caley dug in and defended for their lives and managed to snatch a point.

Brendan has us going in the right direction and good to see Jozo back.

Yep, 5 games in: 2 points dropped and 17 goals scored after playing Hearts, St Johnstone and ICT away; the sheep and them at home.

I am reasonably comfortable with that.

I am also astonished that Gamboa has already been written off by some people. A debut in Camp Nou and an hour in the Highlands isnae the benchmark for saying someone is a dud!

Absolutely, this won’t be the last game we drop points in (shocking I know). And it won’t be the worst performance we see. We are trying to build something here, but even in these early days of that building process it is clear that no other team in the league will be able to keep pace with us.

On Wednesday we have an exciting opportunity to progress to the semi-final of the League Cup, and we could be tantalisingly close to our first trophy of the season. I’m really looking forward to the match.

I would bring Gordon and Izzy into the starting line-up, have a starting CB pairing of Erik and Jozo and keep Gamboa at RB. I would be tempted to rest Brown, but otherwise I would keep the midfield to front at is.

A tough start to the season where we have already beaten all the teams considered to be our challengers and qualified for the CL, that’ll do me:))

Aye good to see Jozo back, he’s had a very tough time let’s hope he can put it behind him and we get a chance to see what he is all about.

When Kieran hit the bar for the umpteenth time yesterday you just knew Caley would score.

Not like we haven’t been there before up there.

    Hope you’re well Groover:))
