Jim Goodwin’s proper football team

354

In their last four outings, St Mirren won 1-5 at Tannadice, 1-2 at Celtic Park and beat Kilmarnock 2-0.  Their only points dropped was a 1-2 home defeat to Hibs after going down to 10 men early in the game.  You will not need to be reminded how Celtic teams in better form have struggled at St Mirren Park against home teams in significantly poorer form.  Or that St Mirren are the only Scottish club to beat Newco this season.

Jim Goodwin has built a proper football team* that will take points off anyone who arrives ill prepared for the task.  I find the odds, which favour a Celtic win, a tad ambitious.

*St Mirren baiting will resume when appropriate.

Some good stats and no doubt Bitton has served us well.

However, he’s that bit older now and our challengers have improved – to the point where we actually have challengers.

Honest question – would you want Bitton lining up in the centre of our defence for the CL qualifiers or in our first match against Sevco next season?

I’m sure if Boyd had stuck in at school , he would have been able to read up on the rules and wave a book too .

Have Celtic made any comment on either decision? Early days , I know but ( !) I thought they might have anticipated and responded accordingly.

I don`t remember snow like this for a long time. Is it possible that the cleaner atmosphere as a result of Covid restrictions has caused the weather to be as it is ?

Seeing that picture of NL facing up to the 5 huns makes we wonder how he will be viewed among the Celtic support in 10, 20 years.

A legend on the pitch, no doubt. But for me, he will be remembered as the guy who blew 10iar.

I feel I barely recognise him these days or believe a word he says, such is the disconnect.

That he is forever now a legend to the zombies says it all.

    Just my opinion….tin hat on!

  15. I can’t believe that Motherwell player who deliberately kicked Soro got off scot-free. If ever there was dubiety about what is ranged against us, that surely ends any argument.

How do you view Jock Stein ? The man who won the big cup or who lost to Feyenoord, and blew a 10 of his own ?

Big Billy ? The ultimate captain , leader and centenary double manager or the guy who lost a league to Souness that was the 1st of their dishonest 9 ?

Jimmy McGrory ? Our greatest goalscorer, the 7-1 game, a league and cup double , and a coronation cup ? or the guy who lost finals and semi finals with great players not getting picked …………..

If I live 20 years more I will be telling the grand weans that Neil Lennon, Scott Brown, James Forrest, PC Lustig,, Tom Rogic, Leigh Griffiths, Keiren, Sinky and several others gave me some of the bestest and greatest achievements I ever saw.

If people could accept where they are on the Grief curve, it will all be less raw.

    In time we wont care.

Says me still huritng at the Raith Rovers game

  17. BHOY FROM THE BOYNE on 9TH FEBRUARY 2021 3:56 PM

If any sevco fan tried that crap on me i would remind them that it was their hatred of Neil and the thought of losing the league to him that drove them to overspend, eventually killing them.

So neil lennon killed rangers and that’s why they’re now called sevco and always will be.

  18. BHOY FROM THE BOYNE on 9TH FEBRUARY 2021 3:56

I have a feeling the Huns’ bitterness towards Neil Lennon because of his religion will outlive his hero status. They’ll probably get back to attacking him in the street, sending him bombs and bullets in the post and forcing his family out of their home in the middle of the night eventually, but for now it’s a small mercy that he can live in Scotland without fearing for his life.

We’re a forgiving bunch at Celtic, at least eventually, especially of our own. His mistakes will be seen in a different context in time by most of us and we’ll be able to look back at the huge amount of success he brought us, often against the odds against a cheating hun outfit.

  19. Having had a wee stroll through several twitter accounts linked to the Celtic and History stuff I like, the vitriol about Neil, people revelling in the F OFF Banner, and the Traffic No Entry on top of Neils face is beyond me.

They also revel in the Ultras on the continent approaches to training grounds, attacking players and cars, damaging club property. They are turning on the “celtic da’s” as supporting Neal and not forcing change fast enough for their agenda.

And then the irony of “no one is bigger than celtic” rhetoric.

  20. Ps,

in the forgiveness stakes, what about when big Pierre was given a heros welcome for the half time draw ?

    people forget.

Is it too early for Maurice Johnstone as Director of Football, unveiling Di Canio as the new manager ?
