Justice without fear or favour, but much more to come

The SFA Judicial Panel which disciplined Rangers two weeks ago was independent of the SFA.  Tonight’s appellate panel was also independent but as I was reminded tonight, there’s independent and there’s ‘independent’.

Celtic Quick News has cast its share of aspersions in the direction of the SFA in recent years but even President What-school-did-you-go-to? could not spike what appears to be well established processes.

The consequences from tonight’s decision by the SFA appellant panel will run deep for Stewart Regan, and I suspect life would be easier for him if a more accommodating verdict was returned, but the structure he created delivered what he promised.  Justice, without fear or favour. Credit where due.

You and I have a responsibility to start rebuilding trust, and Scottish football, from here. Don’t wallow in past times, or a in an old victim mentality. Tomorrow belongs to you and your neighbours who support Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hibs, St Mirren, Motherwell and many others. Make sure you enjoy that future and are not consumed by past torments.

Rangers is a former football club.  They played their last game on Sunday 13 May 2012 at Perth.

We’ve been predicting this for months, and if you think the revelations and shocks are over, think again.  Empires will crumble, oceans will dry and galaxies will collide next week.  The surface has only been scratched.

    New song for next season-

Bless the SFA, bless the SFA, bless the SFA [and ole Lord Carlaway]

  2. I know that there is a BCC has programme coming out about Rankers woes next week which will hopefully lay open to everyone the misdeeds over the last 20 odd years of financial doping.

However last night I had the chance to viewed once again the 90 minute video which was the cause of all this sorry mess.

    That’s a silly analogy.

If the huns, in whatever form, are in the SPL next season then they’ll take it as proof that their sense of triumphalist, supremacist, self entitlement is well founded and that they are indeed ra peepul.

They won’t be beaten until they think they’re beaten.

If Green, and his consortium, still push through a purchase then be prepared for more fun and games as the only way to make money in those circumstances will be running at Tesco Value prices and selling everything that is of any value. And believe me he NEEDS to turn a profit.

Over the next 12 days the PR battle will be lost. When the cheating is laid bare it will be impossible for anyone to vote for anything other than Division 3.

I have said from the start, and still maintain, it will not go to a NewClub vote. Zombie Rangers will go there themselves.

Last night just means their tenuous mental gymnastics to allow them to keep their tainted trophy haul has been torpedoed. This will be a brand new club.

It must be difficult to accept sanctions and punishment after a century of privilege.

Why don’t they appeal to U.E.F.A.?

  10. I wonder if anyone connected to rangers will ever say ‘Sorry’.

Instead of blaming everyone else for their problems, will someone actually come out and admit to doing wrong and apologise dragging not only Scottish Football but Scottish Society into the gutter.

One of the big advantages of being in administration is the opportunity it gives to restructure costs, and one the greatest failing of the Rangers administrators is their failure capitalise on this.

If they had done their jobs properly and reduced the player headcount to a level where Rangers were no longer loss-making on domestic income then any would-be owner would be in a much better position. As it is, Rangers will have to embark on some epic player trading through the summer to put themselves on an even financial keel. Or maybe they could just stick with the players they have and make up the funding gap by hanging onto PAYE or something.

  13. RaRaRasputin – you are making an assumption there. You are assuming that D&P’s goal was to have a trading entity at the end of this.

Forgive me CQN for I have sinned.

This morning I have been having thoughts that make me excited. I have been thinking I want to see der hun stay in the SPL, since the thought of thrashing them by 5 or 6 goals four times in the one season excites me. (even just 2 thrashings in the event they miss the cut fills me with joy).

I am willing to accept any penance CQN feels appropriate :-)

They are trying everything they can to finish Rangers off. Today, we are in the football equivalent of post Dunkirk Britain – standing alone against the Celtc minded fascism which threatens not just our football but the values and standards we hold as a United Kingdom.

I think the point is if you are in a coma thinking you are in the ring you still have spirit.. When your spirit is broken you are truly defeated.

I hope when they fail to emerge from DIv 3 with their team of teenagers that their spirit will be broken. So broken in fact that even when in the coming season they are looking good for promotion they won’t believe it.. They will be so defeated.

  18. Of course they will bitch, bile, bite, scratch, bare their teeth and snarl; it is their club that is being dissolved after all. Are they finished? I don’t know, but I always remember Henrick Larsson once ridicule a nation when saying… “you forgot it was only half-time”

They are hurting, the handshake is no longer their passport to tolerance, their Bigot Guardians are being shuffled out of office and in the vanguard of the slime trail departs the protection .

They are – the hun – possibly for the first time in their lives, they are scared.

With the transfer embargo still in place, the ole mighty warchest could be firin’ blanks.

  20. Here is a question for the fine denizens of CQN to ponder:

Would you allow them back into the SPL if you knew their 1st team was going to be under 18’s, would be royally gubbed each week, and got relegated next year?

RANGERS fans are in shock today after the SFA’s Appellate Tribunal refused to rescind a transfer embargo imposed on the club last month by a Disciplinary Panel.

Once again the club – represented by leading QC Richard Keen – put forward a compelling case that the main charge of non-payment of PAYE, NIC and VAT was down to the actions of Craig Whyte and not the club

They also explained the severe impact a transfer ban would have but the Appellate Tribunal upheld the decision.

HERE are the reasons for the SPL’s Appellate Tribunal for refusing to over-turn the transfer embargo on Rangers

The Appellate Tribunal will give its full reasons in writing in early course. However, in summary, it considers that:

    1. It was competent for Disciplinary Tribunal to impose the additional sanction of prohibiting registrations of any new players of 18 years or older for a period of 12 months.

    2. The Disciplinary Tribunal was correct to determine that the conduct involved – especially the deliberate non-payment of very large sums, estimated in excess of £13m of tax in the form of PAYE, NIC and VAT – was attributable to the club as a member of the Scottish FA.

    3. The Disciplinary Tribunal was correct also in holding that the maximum fine available for this breach was £100,000, and on its own was inadequate as a punishment for this misconduct. It was therefore correct to select an additional sanction.

    4. The sanctions available included expulsion from participation in the game and termination or suspension of membership of the Scottish FA, which would have had a similar effect. The Appellate Tribunal observes that serious consideration was given by the disciplinary tribunal to imposing one of these sanctions, which would have had obvious consequences for the survival of the club. The Disciplinary Tribunal rejected these as too severe and this Appellate Tribunal agrees with that conclusion.

    5. Although the Appellate Tribunal has listened carefully to the representations from Rangers FC about the practical effects of the additional sanction, it has concluded that this sanction was proportionate to the breach, dissuasive to others and effective in the context of serious misconduct, bringing the game into disrepute. In particular, the Appellate Tribunal recognises that the Disciplinary Tribunal decision does not affect Rangers’ ability to extend the contracts of existing professional players, including those whose contracts will expire at the end of this season and including also those currently on loan to other clubs. The Appellate Tribunal observes that Rangers FC have over 40 professional players in this category.

Therefore, the Appellate Tribunal affirms the decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal

I am with you on this. I also think the media know this. The fact that is frequently mooted even by Sally is conditioning the Huns.

The fact that they are happy to go there to give us all a lesson. To show the SPL cannot survive without them is just part of their supremacist psyche.

I think there are some who would rather be liquidated rather than have it all unravel. It is too late for that.
