Were you impressed by how smartly Juventus opened last night, pressing Barcelona into conceding a corner? It was an ambitious opening. In the days after we beat Barcelona in 2012 one journalist took all sorts of abuse online for recoiling against the suggestion Celtic put on a ‘brave’ performance.
He conceded Celtic’s was a brilliant performance, but defending your 18 yard line was more sensible than brave. What Juventus did last night, pressing Barcelona, leaving space at the back, was brave. It was foolish too.
Juventus are a remarkable team and have just completed one of the best seasons in their history. They had a right to think they could have a go at Barcelona. They came close too, for a while after they equalised Barca were penned back, but the game turned when Lionel Messi found 50 yards of space ahead of him. You can’t leave Messi with that sort of freedom.
Three minutes into the game Juventus fans would have been encouraged, they had already forced Barca back and made an attempt at goal but the cost of all this expansionism was space in their own box. Even this great Juventus team should have gone into yesterday’s game knowing their limitations.
If they played within them, were they good enough to sneak a win against Barcelona? Quite possibly.

anyone know who’s been released by the deadybears ? just wondering if all the ones who’s contracts are up were released, if so they canny hiv many players
They never did hiv many players, jist a lot of dumplins in blue shirts.
Worst moment in a dreadful game was when the sadistic fourth official told us we had another three minutes to endure.
LEFTCLICKTIC
True. Apart from those two.
Looked like someone had thrown up after too much beer,a kebab, and a curry.

My sister was assured,a few years back, that her purchase had only one previous owner. Turned out to be a rental company.
Arnold Clark,btw.

Surname as a first name, definite sign of a Sevconian, growing up I was a bit embarrassed about my middle name “Hugh Patrick” by all accounts my mother & father had agreed on Patrick but my dad and uncle Shug went to register the birth and after a few pints of light they decided to lob in Hugh, which my mother knew heehaw about… So Gerard Hugh Patrick was registered, how my father thought that would help me get a job in Ecosse is beyond me, but as I have learned it is now a badge of honour and the story of my dad and his brother getting blitzed and flinging in Hugh makes it even better
They might not be here but they still are in my thoughts

Even a handsome cool dude like yourself would struggle wearing one of them!
dallas dallas.
I had two desires – a good game / the better team winning .I got what I wanted.
The old codger wanted Rube to lose but didn’t want them ( and by extension Italian football) humiliated. He clapped when Rube scored – he loved Marchisio’s backheel.
Jesus wept Pastry/Ernie/jim murphy?? is now blaming the state of Hampden on the SNP!!?
Gerry hows it going mate, hear you’re back working soon..good man well done.
Hugh’s not so bad at all, BigShuggy of that name who posts on here is some man for the one man and you know him well.

You were correct when you said that Ronny dude wouldn’t win the treble
Reading today about Ronny’s team playing at St Mirren Park was this Ronny or the big bad Peter Lawell’s decision ?
Maybe Ronny is calling the shots after all and shock, horror maybe Peter is looking after our interests after all

I know exactly who “big shuggy” is, read one of his posts a few months back and he mentioned his bhoy, well I played at Greenfields on the Saturday morning after he had passed and the minutes silence was something that will stay with me forever in a very good way, Mrs BigShuggy was talking to me at school on Friday it’s a small world !
Not sure I’d totally agree with that, Paul. I thought Juventus’ worst spell was when they sat deep in the period after Barcelona scored. Could easily have conceded a couple more.
Thought Bonucci was excellent btw.
these games that are going to be played in Paisley seems a waste of Lennoxtown. I take it these games are just a chance to get the players fit for the C L Qualifiers.I’m sure they could put up a couple of temporary stands at Lennoxtown and let the players train there and let the paying public get a chance to see their team in action. Celtic’s Lennoxtown must be the most secret training ground in the world, I’ve been through a couple of times and the gatemen wouldn’t let me in.
Aye thought you’d know that Gerry , If you ever get a chance to hear him singing one of his made up songs about old Coatbridge ..what a laugh,
Now branching out into cartoons including one of Phil Coles back in the day.. Happy days
Keep The Faith ✊
And God bless Aiden and all those faithful departed Bhoys who were taken too soon.

As Hooper wiz scoring goals galore for Hereford and Scunthorpe, Vardy was doing likewise for Fleetwood. We were indeed linked with him

Bobby Murdoch, we have bought one car each from Reg Vardy and Arnold Clark. We were in the same position as your sister, one previous owner for each car, both car hire companies.
Car dealerships are held in the same low opinion by me as the two clubs that have played out of Ibrox.
Gerryfaethebrig, Gerard is a great name.
I worked with a big Celtic fan called Gerry. We used to wind him up calling him Ger. He fell for it all the time.
Dallas..
My sister in law is of the belief that every 2nd person in Coatbridge of a certain age is named Gerry.. We once ran a bus of 16 with half Gerry and half non Gerry.. And GFTB wasn’t even on it !
Oldtim67
I agree.
Good point.
Keeping the faith, brilliant.
Gerry Creaney was from Coatbridge I believe.
Two of the Gerry’s I have worked with were Coatbridge also.

i think its ok to take these games to saint mirren, it is the holiday season after all., and its an easy alternative.
i do agree with you thought about lennoxtown, there should be some sort of public access, a cafe , a viewing platform, something to keep us involved.
i think we miss some commecrcialism here.

And thats not including the Gerri,Jerri or Jerrys :)))))))
need to build an access road first, thats the biggest issue.
ohm and when they building the hotel and luxury homes on our free land.
thats for huns looking in
hahahahahhaha
South of Tunis, the back heel was a great bit of technique and the Rube right back read it well.
Rube have their best team for a good while. the Milan fans must be beelin Allegri couldn’t have done the same for them.
I see Inzaghi is for the off this week.
Anyone watching last night’s game on RTE probably would have heard Eamonn Dunphy who poses as one of our top pundits make a ludicrous statement that without Real Madrid and Barcelona La Liga would not rate as a top league. Barcelona are European champions for the umpteenth time and Seville have won yet another Europa and Seville would not be considered one of the top Spanish outfits. Where do they get these guys from.
Dallas yes Gerry Creaney is from the brig.. Sorted himself now and doing well, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying
Left click tic .. You’re not kidding mate when my good friend Gerry married a Gerri it caused much hilarity with the sis in law !
My bro is married to a Geraldine

My mother explained to me why I was called Gerard, she had a few miscarriages back in the day and was in her 40s in 1970 so probably thought the worst when I was conceived, she prayed every day to St Gerard of Majella, I still think she should have prayed to St Jude for this hopeless case
Keeping The Faith, far too many Gerrys in the GH, could get you hung at times if somebody gets a Gerry mixed up
Hankray, what I have seen and read about Dunphy, he is an EPL greatest league in the world devotee.
Athletic Bilbao dismantled Man United, home and away, a few tears ago.

Just saw your post, Hooper & Vardy up front, although I like our Leigh (tea cake) Griffiths
I thought the ROI looked very solid against an England side that had all their top players in action. Methinks Scotland could be in for a helluva test next weekend. Looking forward to the Scott Brown – Glenn Whelan confrontation.. Sparks will fly. Aiden played well to-day.

It’s quite ironic. Didn’t Pirlo leave Milan because Allegri was playing him in left mid? Then Allegri gets the boot.
Now both are thriving at Juve….
Gerry, a sound reason for you being called Gerard.
I walked through George Square today and it was glorious .. People sunbathing there.
Read that and weep Dobs :-)
