Roy Keane’s “Celtic wanted me but they weren’t showing how much they wanted me” comment in his second autobiography about being courted to replace Neil Lennon as our manager in the summer is no doubt accurate on one level, but inaccurate on another. Some within Celtic certainly wanted him, but I’m sure the reticence he picked up (and was shared by many of us on the blog at the time) was also very real. Celtic wanted him, but their approach showed him how unconvinced they were.
Keane’s managerial CV is at best considered patchy and his reputation has sold more autobiographies of former team-mates and managers than the two volumes he has now published. Few were convinced he was the right manager for the job, although I’ve no doubt Keane’s claim that Dermot Desmond wanted him, and told him “The job is yours” is accurate, whether anyone else at Celtic was in on the plan or not.
Many thanks to everyone who sponsored me for Sunday’s Great Scottish Run 10k in aid of Celtic Foundation. So far, £677 has been raised to help OUR foundation’s work with poverty, education, learning and equality. The help and messages of support kept the legs moving.

What is the stars – i accept your opinion but if we fail to win a trophy this year I will be absolutely amazed.
I do think it takes months and hours of practice to change footballers habits on the park.
I don’t know if you play but if do, or have, you must know yourself that you begin to do thinks by habit. RD is having to break habits. It does take time.
I hope we are all united in a few months.
Until we meet again…

A lot of unfair stuff and RD getting unbelievable pelters!
Things need to change, for sure, and some fair criticism is appropriate… but some of the vitriol on here seems somehow…out of place.
Deflection?
You know what I mean…

Glorious balance sheet. Those who run the club divided us. Those who can unite us need to reject those who run the club.
We need regime change.
Hunnish talk if ever I seen it. This is the kind of speech I would expect to see on FF. So, go back there. You were found out during the referendum debate, you have been found out again. Fud.

Haha wrote one article for CQN and now you could do PL’s job while all the time insulting fellow Tims while claiming that we dehumanise you.
The online self awareness course didn’t work out then…

So that’s it then. Sack RD after 3 months.
It’s been decreed he ain’t a Celtic Manager.
Is that what we call support?
Come on , give the mhan a chance.
WGS was never a Celtic manager either and some would have had him away after a few months .
Probably the same folk who would welcome him back now.
Poor show
Whenever the day comes that Celtic play the newRangers an unofficial programme detailing the truth about the first match between the clubs to rival and out sell the Official match programme should/must be produced.
Maybe the Livingston guy could edit.
I don`t think its as simple to call people gloryhunters if they voice criticism. The most enjoyment I`ve had watching Celtic in recent years was probably the second half of the 2010/11 season; we were up against bombs and bullets, honest mistakes and all the rest, but we were united.
The team played some great football but didn`t win the league. But there was little negativity. This isn`t the end, its just the beginning. 60,000 fans singing their hearts out and partying v Motherwell even although we knew the league was gone as Kilmarnock bent over for Rangers.
These fans weren`t gloryhunters that day, and I don`t think they`re gloryhunters now. What we had then was a sense that everyone at the club was doing everything they could to bring success. We had a team largely made up of players that the manager knew from having played against in England or in Scotland. Projects were few and far between in that team.
Now what we`re getting is players in for 12 months, never to be seen again having done little more than collect some pesky skelfs in their bum from warming the Celtic bench.
Get a sense of direction about the place, play youngsters instead of Tonev and Berget and build things up again. make players feel like they belong here, not that they`re here for a holiday or until something better comes up.
[Apologies for the staggered post]
Celtic’s big problem is a goal famine which is really a big worry and in my opinion is due mainly to the departure of Sammy and Joe Ledley who were not offered contracts as far as we know and the replacements are well below the quality of the above mentioned players. We will not win the title if this goal famine continues.

If ronnie is given time -and we lose loanees (4) and no doubt VVD too -what happens then -as we try to prepare for CL or Europa quailfiers is it back to square one trying to rebuild yet another team ?? In a very short space of time again-Something is wrong -very wrong

So many short memories on here.Woeful results !!!!!!!?.I will give you woeful results.Ross County,Hampden.Hearts,Hampden.Kilmarnock,Hampden.Aberdeen,Celtic Park.Morton,Celtic Park.Theres 5 cups tossed away,to much weaker teams than we fielded.Utrecht,2-0 up,gubbed 4-0 in the return.Sion,a middle Swiss team.Barca 6-1,utterly clueless that night. No one remember we were 15 points behind a duff hun team?.How many woeful results were recorded in that run?.
Who was the manager in all of these games?.
Short memories indeed. Then again,he was one of us,so thats ok.

Yes I play, and have done for many decades from schoolboy to veterans, never at a very high level but at a decent standard at times
I have experienced managers trying to impose new ideas about how they think the game should be played and have never known it to work, after a few weeks people give up listening to the manager and play for themselves.WHICH OF COURSE IS NOT GOOD.
Of course at a professional level all that should be different so I am not comparing like with like.
I dont understand a manager trying to change the habits of a winning team and in so doing turning them into a losing team
That is what I see happening
Glorious balance sheet…if we had youngsters(mcgeady)..good enough to be playing….they would be playing..
Burghbhoy he is a disasterous appointment. When is enough enough???

From the first day I posted on here a few years ago now, I have never, never been a supporter of Pedro.
I have said all along he is the problem at the club, I have every single post I have ever made recorded, so I can say that without fear.
My point is, yous are all calling for the head of the wrong man, that is hunnish is it not ?
It’s what huns do, call out the messenger.
Now, if there was a concerted effort to call for change re the policy, fine, but no, all are jumping on sack Ronny, and where the feck will that leave us, pray tell………..
They will not give any coach-manager money, he is given pish players that were on the cheap, loan deals that will go back, no chance of building anything for the future.
Think about it FFS, really think about it.
Ronny is NOT the problem.

I am sure we can manage that ourselves. The OFFICIAL programme MUST state this too or what is the point?
Starry plough. Well two articles but your criticism remains valid.
Apart that is from the rather disasterous performance of the current celtic incumbents…..

PL is fireproof. Empty seats give him the power and excuse to replace the manager. As long as DD is the key man .. PL will always be safe……..sadly.

Don’t listen to SOAL. He’s really the gin soaked, piss stained guy from Emmerdale.
Weefrathetim. Your post sums up my general demeour. Not only are celtic fans divided on football g ounds but also on political grounds. To call me a fun for my political views ,ales you the fud not me.

You’re correct PL, DD et al are to blame for an ever decreasing strategic, financial model.
That doesn’t excuse Ronny’s tactics, formations and choice of personnel.
He’s had it tough with injuries and how many games we’ve had in a short period of time.
However, he is not making the most of what he does have.
TET
The problem of course is that generally football fans will put up with any old shite and accept the propaganda put out by the club to justify it and continue to turn up every week
However the crowds are dropping drastically
The Cardiff owner changed their colours from Blue to Red and still they turn up
Celtic apparently always come out of a transfer window stronger than they went into it.
Very depressing right now
Yes of course Lawwell has had his day and should go but appointing Ronny was bizarre
Turkeybhoy 2213-
That duff Hun team had:
McGregor – Premiership goalkeeper.
Jelavic – Premiership striker.
Naismith – Premiership striker, scored at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Davis – Premiership midfielder.
I don`t think on balance, much as I hate the Huns, that they were a duff team then. They had some not bad players that are now doing ok for themselves.
But they were managed by a complete duffer, that much is for sure!
In terms of Neil Lennon`s cup record, I personally was more angry at the Hampden defeats to Kilmarnock, St Mirren and Hearts. When you get to finals and semi-finals you need to do the job. Its a big occasion that calls for your big game players to earn their money, especially against teams that are clearly weaker.
Whereas, in the earlier rounds you can always have one of those days.
The European games – agreed, very poor. But guess what, as with Ronny this year, so Neil Lennon had to put up with players coming and going during European qualifiers.
In 2010 Aiden McGeady was sold during the qualifiers. Kayal, Majstorovic, Juarez all came in during them, Izzy and Forster afterwards.
In 2011 – Fraser Forster`s loan was only extended a couple of days before the Sion game.
Its not all about the managers.
John park is perfect for PL he discovers the odd nugget we can sell for a handsome profit keeping the old balance sheet in check, unfortunately he is not judged on his failures which proportionally are off the scale.

Go away, you’re the worse kind of troll. FF is your standard, please go back to it. Until you show your face at CP, like I do every home game, you hold no credence on this blog. Final word to you. KTF. (I bet that really bugs you).
