King demotivates ahead of semi

386

I suppose we should thank Dave King for starting the week of the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Newco with a statement discussing the Newco manager’s position, “on the managerial front I emphasise that the board fully recognises the need for sustained stability in this area of the club.

“Whoever is appointed must be able to meet the unique challenges of managing Rangers [sic.] and ensuring immediate success.”

The last thing a manager wants ahead of a big game is discussions about his position from his chairman.  Poor Graeme is a lame duck and no one in his squad will be under any doubt about this after today.

Celtic got past 10-man Hamilton in a pedestrian manner yesterday, but must now up their pace ahead of the semi-final.  Last month we talked about the Morton Scottish Cup quarter-final being more important than the trip to Ibrox a week later.  By any measure, Sunday’s semi is one of the biggest games of the season.

A lack of concentration (as we saw yesterday) or a few mistakes and all the good work put into winning a consecutive treble will be undone.  We struggled against this lot at Celtic Park in December and needed heroics to beat them at Ibrox last month.  We have been unable to boss them the way we did last season, or in our visit to Ibrox in September.

In short, if you think we have a God given right to reach the final, you are wrong.  We should be grateful for any demotivational Dave King mutterins going.

  1. Still no announcement about the post split fixtures ?

WTF are they playing at. Surely it would have been possible for them to predict a number of different scenarios before this past weekends fixtures and have a set of fixtures ready for each outcome. There’s only one game that matters anyway ( from a scheduling point of view……for me, they’re all big games if Celtic are involved ).

Woefully inept and with no consideration for paying fans whatsoever, especially those who travel to support the teams. Not fit for purpose ? No question about it

I think the players will be up for it. They’ll probably remember the huns celebrating being drawn against us.

saw your comment about the golf debate so had a look back , noticed Weefrathetim is getting bullied , why is this allowed to go on without posters being blocked . I know its a blog open to all ,but , Bullying in my opinion should’nt be tolerated .

And before anyone jumps in , i know i’m a drama queen xx.

If I am not mistaken Bobby Lennox attended the old St Michael’s College in Irvine, which became St Mary’s Primary when they opened the new Academy in Kilwinning.

I know a lady who was in his year there.

  5. Post split fixtures.

Alan Burrows (Motherwell ) has tweeted.

Final discussions are underway with broadcasters and the Police regarding live television selections, with full confirmation expected within the next 48 hours.

  8. JIMMYNOTPAUL,

Thanks for that, but….what a farce. Treating fans as third-rate citizens again. No consideration for the people who pay their wages ( indirectly ) and will no doubt leave many out of pocket due to escalating cost of travel and accommodation as prices rise closer to the dates.

Honestly. How difficult can it be.

If you treat your customers like s**t, it won’t be long before they shop somewhere else.

    Hope your well, Sir.

    I couldn’t agree more.

I mean how hard is it. They have known the top six for days.

Fair play to Burrows for tweeting the update, i don’t know if any other clubs did.

    Hail Hail

Nothing new to report on SPFL split fixtures but hoping that we’ll get these asap to allow fans some time to plan and prepare, will update as soon as we have any info.

    Hmmmm

Not a lot of info there.

  11. Paul67- you sound worried. Yet, economically at least, a ‘resurgent’ Newco, winning trophies and challenging for the Title is actually good news for Celtic. Imagine last Wednesday night v Dundee was a must win tie for example- do you think the ground would have been half full?

  12. Can’t blame the club for this. At least JPT has said something, even if it’s to say not much. There’s obviously going to be a huge scramble for tickets for the first home game after the split……if the SPFHELL deign to give us a home tie in the first one. I guess they’ll expect us to be grateful to them if they do :-(

I’m thinking with my spine removed to simulate an SFA Lackey!

    So

Celtic are not to win the league against my team (oops Sevco) nor can they get the trophy in front of my mates from the ludge

So 2nd last game is favourite

Celtic actually winning the league is a TV draw but Trophy day and Sevco day take the two remaining home TV fixtures out – so attractive TV game – Hearts (they also need a wee bung)

    There we have it

1st game after split away to Hearts live on TV

    Sevco 2nd last

    Aberdeen last

  14. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Sevco made the mistake of thinking they could win the last time we played.

I reckon they will fancy their chances of a 0-0 and winning on penalties.

A bit concerned that we haven’t fixed our obvious problems.

Next week will be a lot harder than it should have needed to be.

  15. There’s rarely been a better time to be a Tim………..

Times are good, and I’m grateful.

  17. BMCUW

No for the first time, not sure what your comment on my post was meant to prove.

Its Sevco the new club, not Rainjurz, the fixture is against and everything Celtic do associated with every one of these fixtures should be treated as such.

Celtic media certainly does increasingly so.

  18. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

I see the MSM are getting all excited about when we play Sevco and not letting it be a “league decider”. As if Sevco are in with a chance of winning the league!

Anything to give their favourite team some attention and try to make them look relevant!

Did something I said upset you? If so,I’ll gladly apologise as it wasn’t my intention.

As it’s “not for the first time”,I’d be grateful if you pointed out my error,in order that I make it the last time.

  20. There were many reasons why Celtic Park was half full on Wednesday night and a challenge from sevco was not one of them!

Apart from the shitty weather on Wednesday it was Easter week when many people go in search of sunnier climes. Our normally busy Mass on Sunday was the same very few kids at it for a change due to them being on holiday somewhere.

Sure a challenge is required and welcome but it doesn’t need to come from and won’t come from sevco.

Reading a couple of Celtic blogs there proves that there are plenty of “Green Huns” out there with a sense of entitlement. Brendan all of a sudden is no better than Ronnie Deila and more than half the squad need to be shown the door according to these eejits – short memories and feckin pathetic. ???????

  21. If we had been playing Sevco on Wednesday, the stadium would have been full, irrespective of Easter Week or the weather.

  22. Once again a match against the liquidation deniers looms and once again it is all about us and how we perform. I don’t care about King, Murty, Miller or whatever fantasy they are peddling to the permanently deluded.

Turn up Celtic, play with hunger and pace and end their season.

    Ensuring= guaranteeing

    immediate= right away (first season)

success= winning the league/qualifying for CL

Presumably this new messiah will also need a squad of players capable of delivering same.

Good luck with that one Glibby.

you are no wrong on the sunnier climes, my Friday pint was down 3 season ticket holders enjoying a break.

  25. lets make sure we have the basics right , who’s on our corner/free kick/ throw-in duty , that the players allocated these duties are up to it as we have struggled badly this season with all of the above.

Stick to the facts not what you think the facts are. We played Dundee on Wednesday, a rearranged game due to previous inclement weather, not the *huns/sevco/the zombies. * Delete as necessary.

Were you at Celtic Park on Wednesday night?
