King demotivates ahead of semi

I suppose we should thank Dave King for starting the week of the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Newco with a statement discussing the Newco manager’s position, “on the managerial front I emphasise that the board fully recognises the need for sustained stability in this area of the club.

 

“Whoever is appointed must be able to meet the unique challenges of managing Rangers [sic.] and ensuring immediate success.”

The last thing a manager wants ahead of a big game is discussions about his position from his chairman.  Poor Graeme is a lame duck and no one in his squad will be under any doubt about this after today.

Celtic got past 10-man Hamilton in a pedestrian manner yesterday, but must now up their pace ahead of the semi-final.  Last month we talked about the Morton Scottish Cup quarter-final being more important than the trip to Ibrox a week later.  By any measure, Sunday’s semi is one of the biggest games of the season.

A lack of concentration (as we saw yesterday) or a few mistakes and all the good work put into winning a consecutive treble will be undone.  We struggled against this lot at Celtic Park in December and needed heroics to beat them at Ibrox last month.  We have been unable to boss them the way we did last season, or in our visit to Ibrox in September.

In short, if you think we have a God given right to reach the final, you are wrong.  We should be grateful for any demotivational Dave King mutterins going.

    I don’t really care what 11 players BR starts on Sunday, as long as they start on the front foot and correct attitude. I think you could pick 2 separate starting 11s from our squad which could beat Sevco’s strongest 11.

    Enjoyed a quick read back and seen the verve/ashcroft tunes that were posted, great stuff.

     

    Don’t know if anyone has heard this acoustic version of ‘ on your own ‘ ? First heard it as part of the b sides on the single ‘ history ‘ .

    As for the upcoming semi on Sunday we need to ensure we go in as hard as we can to ensure a firm outcome, if we go softly-softly it will result in a flop.

    The verve and oasis singles with accompanying b-sides in the 90’s were a treasure trove of material , some great tunes most bands would have on their albums if they could.

    So Davie Provan in his Daily Hun column, thinks Andy Robertson is a better left back/wingback than KT. I have 3 issues with that:

     

    1st issue : In my book you pick the better player to play say, right back or centre back to accommodate the lesser player, so KT wins.

     

    2nd issue: eh naw he isny, so KT wins.

     

     

    3rd issue but most important…. YOU ARE A FUD PROVAN so KT wins.

    Hello this is WEE BGFC. I severely hope that we win it on the forst game after the split for the following reasons:

     

    1) Take the title as quickly as possible (we don’t want to be slipping up)

     

    2) If we play the team that the huns support to win the title, the sky sports “old firmers” will have a field day.

     

    Mostly for the first reason.

    Interesting if they are the fixtures, with the sheep at Celtic park on trophy day, I guess the theory behind that is, we beat them and zombies get second place, we all know Hibs will Hibs it.

     

     

    O and before anyone suggest it, there will be no lying down on my watch…..still if we had a cup final to play for, resting say 9 or 10 players would make sense I suppose.

    Think if you think about it…Aberdeen usually Hibs it..not the other way round.

    Re Sunday – Ntcham will start. Why? Because he’s the most complete midfielder we have. Brown will anchor in beside him and then it’ll be a toss up between Rogic, Armstrong and Cal Mac- any 2 from 3 with JF and Dembele.

     

     

    I think Sinclair and Roberts wil be benched with the Griff along with one of the above MFs and Bain. Enough quality there to win a tie over 90 or 120 mins.

    Just returned from a week in Valencia yesterday. Great town to stroll around in, great beach area as well. Took a drive up to Castellon which was a lovely town as well. Went to St Patricks Irish pub for Dundee/Hamilton games and a trip to the Mestalla on Sunday night to see Valencia play Espanyol.

    Fixtures still haven’t been announced. SPFL,Police Scotland and Sky/BT can’t agree. What the latter are involved for,I dunno. Should be a case of-There’s the fixtures,take your pick.

     

     

    As for Police Scotland,they don’t want it to be the first game,or even the second one,in case we win. They don’t want the Bank Holiday weekend. They don’t want the midweek fourth fixture and they don’t want the title party.

    I know the rules do not count for much where Sevco are concerned but would we be allowed to make our game against them a Celtic Supporters only event?

     

    My own view is that fans`s safety is a pretense and ulterior motives by the Police and TV companies are at play .

    The post split fixtures should be fixed with only who’s at home/away to be decided once the positions are known after 33 games.

     

    eg

     

    week 34 1 v 2, 3 v 4, 5 v 6

     

    week 35 1 v 3, 2 v 5, 4 v 6

     

    week 36 1 v 6, 2 v 3, 4 v 5

     

    week 37 1 v 5, 2 v 4, 3 v 6

     

    week 38 1 v 4, 2 v 6, 3 v 5

     

     

    Once that’s sorted we can then find a system where teams are guaranteed to play each other an even amount of times home and away. 14 teams split after 26 games then a further 12 games. More big games v Sevco, Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen, less games against Ross County, Hamilton, Dundee etc
