I don’t get the flares thing. It’s not a part of my going-to-see-Celtic tradition. But if it was my thing, I’d have the courage of my convictions, I wouldn’t hide the fact.
There are consequences of bringing flares to football games, always has been. By not having the courage to openly ignite them, those consequences are not personalised to the individuals who regard this as an integral part of what they do at a football game, they are visited upon everyone in the vicinity, as well as the club.
The problem with flares at Celtic games is those who bring them hide the fact – as they clearly know there are consequences, and presumably aren’t too interested in taking responsibility for them. ‘Keen on flares, not keen enough to stand up for them’, is why the issue persists.
I get the attraction to bright, shiny, things, but this isn’t a campaign to bring the vote to disenfranchised people against a force who will execute the offender on sight. It’s about bringing a flare to a football game. If it’s so important, do it openly. If you think Health and Safety are simply wrong, find the evidence and use it in court. Have the courage to change something. I know lots of Celtic fans who have had the courage to put their name to something they believed in, in recent years. It’s seldom easy, but it has been done.
But in the years of this debate no one has ever pointed to evidence that igniting flares in a football ground is a clever thing to do. It’s just a ‘look at me’ exercise, ‘But don’t look at my face’, of course.

It will however clear up all the stuff about waiting and waiting and then waiting some more, if they did that all the support can then make a choice.

Its looking to me as though the rest of the clubs have told the PLC, that they are ‘moving on’.
Its crunch time.
In my opinion, the PLC will remain silent, really hope im wrong, but, they wont take a stand against anything, unless its Celtic supporters.
The PLC react to the hun media every time, but ignore the genuine concerns of thousands of Celtic supporters.
That is not sustainable.

The HSE link is an opening to further links on H&S in sports – risks etc. There are plenty of cross-references if you care to Google further.
You will note the HSW Act reference (italics) where mention of common law (civil) is noted. Try Googling: Elliot .v. Saunders Civil Case – Paul took his case to the High Court claiming Saunders deliberately injured him thus finishing his career. He lost and expenses were awarded against him. There have been a number of other cases where players threatened legal action – few have ever made the courts. A number have been settled out of court – hence the heavy insurance premiums carried by football clubs.
The HSE do not get involved in competitive/contact sport.
Two fairly recent examples for you to ponder involving the ICC and cricket: (1) The Australian batsman who died as a result of brain injuries – the ball striking him under the helmet at the base of his skull. PM and Coroner Enquiry held – HSE not involved. ICC Legislation deals with the rules and equipment. Helmet Manufacturers came up with a redesign of the regulation helmet – it know has a protective flap basically covering the area below the hairline. In a recent cricket match the batsman’s shot struck the bowler on the temple – unfortunately resulting in the poor lad’s death. Yet again the HSE were not involved.
(2) FIA (and not the HSE) have always investigated motor sports accidents (deaths) from Jim Clark through Senna to the recent incident where F4 driver Billy Monger lost both his lower legs. Jackie Stewart and the Drivers Safety Advisory Body have driven H&S improvements/ BS:EN Standards with the Team Manufacturers and Circuit Owners – compliance with legislation (International not local). The nearest the HSE would get to applying H&S to F1 would be if there were questionable working conditions in Team factories within the UK.

Kjam,
Your forgetting one very important detail,
The Plc are responsible for security and any banners displayed inside the stadium, blaming the green brigade because the Plc failed to do their job properly again is becoming a bit of a joke, how many times is that now that our board have failed to properly secure the stadium ?
Every banner and flare is the direct responsibility of the Plc.bif they can’t do their job properly why should anyone have any sympathy for them. They hire the security, they hire the stewards and they have failed to protect the club’s reputation. This for me is no accident.
No its not, it is a source of frustration and anger, being silent on this irrespective of what others do is not a solution to this, they have moved to predict their income stream from season tickets with the waiting list just in case some say I’ve had enough, sensible business decision but woeful dereliction of duty in the face of years of cheating which has been proven in the highest court in this land.

I hope the ref has a relative who owns a bar in Lisbon. I reckon we made a wee difference to their takings two short months ago.
Just stumbled over the bar bill for the Cup Final session in CR7 sports bar near our hotel in Lisbon.
Am about to instigate Burgergate – 2 bottles of Champagne, 4 bottles of Prosecco, umpteen pints – and a burger on the tab ! Still looking for contributions too – think a few drinks ended up on our tab “in error” ?
CANAMALAR
Thanks for that.
KEEP THE FAITH
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 22ND JULY 2017 1:35 PM
BTW the CR7 bar tab for the cup final ran to € 340 so someone was doing ok out of it !
Praecepta,
I’ve done plenty of reading and in none of that reading or in any of the the information you provide (which I have also read) has the HSE been invited to investigate such that there is no evidence that the HSE has ever received an official report or complaint from a qualified professional.
So offering the squirrel about civil cases does not provide evidence that the issue has been tested.
As I say until an officially qualified report is made it will not be tested and I firmly believe if such a report is made then it must be investigated as its a legal obligation not voluntary.

Em, i think that would be Cristiano.
Canamalar,
Fans and people who attend games have a degree of responsibility. We are not absolved it of it going through the turnstiles. If you want to put all of that on the club then it would like going to through the airport not the football. There is a reasonable test in all this, no?
I am intrigued by your no accident comment, you think the club are in some way complicit?
Lets be clear bhoys.
Whatever position we take personally, ultimately, we cannot allow Celtic to be subject to hun corruption.
We cannot allow that.
That is the crux of the matter.
HH
The Plc are either,
a) Working in cahoots with the authorities.
b) Scared stiff of the Sevco mob.
c) Grossly incompetent.
d) Playing a cute game and will use this opportunity to transform Scottish football.
e) Don’t have a clue what to do.
Hopefully we’ll have the answer soon. Beware further of squirrels and talk about not wanting to compromise a possible Judicial Review by making public statements about the actions of the SPFL/SFA.
Oh and the JR will have to be funded by supporters due to possible conflicts of interest and a lack of appetite from other clubs.
We’ll see.
______________________________________________________________________
On another note,
All this talk of squirrels is another source of division between Ireland and England of course.
The grey squirrel was introduced from England into Ireland at Castle Forbes, County Longford in 1911, where six pairs were released for aesthetic reasons. Sciurus carolinensis is originally from North America.
I’m told that the grey squirrel was released at a wedding by the wealthy Anglo Irish.
The English introduced invader has caused carnage across Ireland.
Indigenous red squirrels are able to live in harmony with woodland and native wildlife, greys damage trees, deprive wildlife of food and raid birds’ nests. They also carry a disease, parapox virus, which is deadly to the reds.
http://www.noticenature.ie/Grey_Squirrel.html
(Even squirrels can be a source of conflict and rancour:))
If the club are hell bent on stopping the banners that may or may not offend huns and or incur a fine from uefa, they could quite easily stop and search each member of the Green Brigade, there are less than 100 members, not too big a task, unless…..
It’s no just the banners tho is it, it’s huge poles that got in undetected, aye right.
As I said, going for 7 in a row, just won a treble, an invincible season unbeaten, most goals ever in the SPFL, CFC in the black, sold out season tickets, and the Old Age Pension Blie Pill libido raisers attack the Uni Ultras, they know what they where doing don’t kid yourself, everything in the garden rosey is not the Old Age Pensioner Blue Pill libido raisers way, or are they a mistake? Aye right.
TGM
In my opinion most couldn’t care less, the team is on top and that is all that matters. I think the board share the same view
If you need a live football fix on a Saturday afternoon …
Partick Thistle v St Mirren – Scottish League Cup ko 15:00 BT Sport 1
The GB should have put an anti-catholic/Irish message on one banner and a #strip the titles message on the other, that way both the SMSM and Celtic board would’ve let it pass without remark.
Wonder what could’ve been achieved if all the energy spent since Wednesday had went on something genuinely important outside football’s wee world.
TET
I wonder who would want to throw a spanner in the works eh? :)
A bitter undercover hun in the vicinity, who knows:)
Somebody will be thinking that they are very clever. But, the game is afoot:)
Lots more to this than meets the all-seeing-eye:)

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness. It acts in the public interest to reduce work-related death and serious injury across Great Britain’s workplaces (not N.I.).
The HSE are proactive in developing H&S Legislation (through Government and Construction related Bodies) – the HSE are reactive when dealing with H&S breaches that affect workers and/or the public.
The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 were introduced to reinforce the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. The MHSWR places duties on employers and employees including those who are clients, designers, principal contractors or other contractors.
The HSE do not enforce Legislation or Regulations relating to participation in sports – be it player or spectator!

What do you suggest?
Dessybhoy
Its not quite that simple though, is it?
We have the small matter of institutionalised corruption and cheating.
Do you think that matters, i certainly do.
We lie down to to blatant cheating, we deserve it.
Some people might indeed pretend everything is ok, but the reality is somewhat different.
You say nothing, you dance to the Hun tune, like a puppet.
Ive never been one to lie down to corruption, and im far from being the only one who feels like that.
As you will see soon.
HH
The Tim Reaper
I suggest people make a stand and refuse to sanction blatant corruption.
Its not difficult.
HH
Canamalar,
To achieve what?
clogher celt.

Brendan is Top Drawer.
I’ve read so much on CQN since Wednesday.
We were in the section that you couldnae see the game that the Statement says.
I’ve not seen Polis aggression for a few years now.
Celtic are, IMO, trying their best. Rangers dying was obviously going to have residual effects.
Celtic are Striving to be as Good as they can Be. Thankfully.
What did you do darling, oh I spent the whole day on CQN stating the blatantly obvious.))
Oh that’s nice dear…
TGM
Im glad you have support for your views, and I agree with you, just giving you my own opinion on the Celtic fans I know and how they are dealing with these issues.
Why would anybody want to go along with a scenario where the zombies have power over Celtic.
I dont get it.
Do you want to cheated all your lives, or will you stand up?

THE GREEN MAN SAYS SACK THE BOARD on 22ND JULY 2017 2:43 PM
It wouldn’t be hard for the affiliations to bang their heads together and organise something. Nobody seems to be bothering. Green Brigade, Celtic Trust, CSA etc.
For the record anyone, especially any Celtic fans, who think we are anywhere near the level of the Linfield fans needs their head examined. Massive own goal on that, if we had kept whiter than white on Wednesday, the media would have had no choice than to highlight was a bunch neanderthals they were. Instead, we gave them a stick to beat us with and deflect from the worse perpetrators in the whole affair.
And only celtic FC are being charged for crowed behaviour, and Linfield have no charges against them? Could you run this whatabouterie one again please, then it will be twice as funny.
Embramike , bothThistle and st mirren played very well against us last season I’m going to watch today’s game hoping both play well and it’s a good match
What do you think Tommy B really impacted on Brendan Rodgers?
A tenet was to have a sporting/not hate rivalry.
That was High on the BR jibber Jabber early doors.
We have the most Incredible Manager here.
TGB don’t you ever use him again.
I’m Adamant about that.
Even Hugh Keevins is waxing lyrical about BR. Don’t you ever, Ever do that again. You Don’t know him.

Praecepta,
First up, check out this link in response to your civil responsibilities and your belief that there have been no cases where refs have been held responsible.
https://orca.cf.ac.uk/95216/1/Referees%20Liability%20-%20A%20UK%20Perspective.pdf
On your idea that the HSE not having any responsibility to bringing cases that is simply ill informed opinion check out this link updating about cases brought by the HSE.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/prosecutions/
As I said I Dave done plenty research and do have a clue what I’m talking about.
