Lost in France

207

Of the two loanees Lost in France this season, Issouf Bayo was the one I most hoped would secure a permanent deal.  He was hooked an hour into Toulouse’ home promotion play-off defeat to Nantes last night.  Toulouse need to overturn the result in Nantes on Sunday to earn the cash that will help pay for the striker’s permanent move.

Olivier Ntcham’s move to Marseilles was doomed to failure from the moment Andre Villas-Boas used it as a pretext to resign as manager.  Olivier is a player.  In the right team, he will perform far better than he has on most occasions for Celtic.  I doubt we will see much of him at Celtic, but I would be happy to see him back at preseason training next month.

  1. Now imagine I spent my £500 the day the club begged for my money.

They can sing for it my money will be staying firmly in my bank account now.

    Bunch of incompetent c***s

  2. It’s now impossible to defend the board…. An absolute boot in the balls to the support.

That was my first thought . EH has been playing cute and will be heading for the EPL . If this was Sevco , the whole of timdom would be rolling on the floor with hysterical laughter .

  4. If Howe and his team are in Glasgow today, as reported on here, I’m surprised we didn’t know earlier.

    Mibbe Tom is correct.

Looks like it’s more than just a tweet. The reports are now saying we are in advanced talks with another candidate. Now looks like we are going for our second choice candidate. If this is true then we are in a worse state than I thought.

Best we can hope for next season is DD gets fed being teased by his billionaire friends as we lose every game. And sells his shares ..nothing will improve till he is gone…

Not if he thinks there is still a chance of making a killing by getting into the EPL.

There may actually be a coherent reason for the shambles we are seeing and while the customers ie fans will never know, his pals might so maybe less chance of them ripping the piss out of him if they understand what he is up to..

That original tweet was followed by advanced talks with another candidate

Budget, backroom staff & personal reasons all factors behind the collapse of this deal.

Celtic are now looking at other options.

Many smelt a rat as the SB renewals came out without Howe in place, but I honestly didn’t expect this level disaster,

Squint King predicted we’d collapse like a house of cards.

Are you meaning to tell me that a transfer budget less than Peter’s bonus was not deemed acceptable?

    Spot on.

  13. Good news, in a way. I never thought that Howe was good enough for the role. Just a pity that our clown school of a board seem to have no Plan B in place.

Unlikely I know, but to save face, Desmond should splash the cash to get Nuno Esprits Santo. Otherwise its back to closing the top deck and asking Micky Mellon if he’s still free….

  14. As per some reports in Scotland, looks like Eddie Howe to #CelticFC is off. His personal terms have been agreed for a while but was subject to getting the backroom staff he wanted which Celtic have been unable to deliver. He wasn’t overly impressed with recruitment plans either.

  15. Every other club in world gets a manager pronto…they knew they needed a new manager in October..kept Lennon to spite fans…..Howe was unemployed……what could go wrong? Ask him if he wants to come…if he doesn’t say yes then move in

  16. Ps Celtic in EPL?? What a joke that idea is..more chance of board standing up to corruption in SFA and

Before they speak, which would you think has the Scottish accent and which the London one?

Surprised me, I can tell you!

    Manager? – give me peace

  18. Anyone who has been at AGM in last few years….knows how inept they are and how they despise fans…..but like their money

  19. You all slagged a top class Manager when he left, he left for a reason and didn’t abandon ship. Brendan is owed an apology, this board screwed him over.

  20. They better be on this 24/7 to get a recognised name in pronto. Looks like they have been strung along by EH but they should not have been left open to this position occurring.

If it is a Kennedy or a Jack Ross I can see anarchy ensuing.

The board talk the talk but certainly (as things stand) are not walking the walk.

  21. All we need now is P67 to bring out this tedious blog about blah blah blah.

Grow a set of b*lls eh Paul.

  22. If we have actually waited 3 months for Howe to say no thanks at this stage

What can you say . Apart from another shambles.

  23. Sometimes it’s not Plan A, and we don’t even know, in fairness if Howe was plan A or B or C.

Was Martin O’Neill not plan B behind Hiddink?

Not sure he would appease our support. But the huns hate him already. Top young coach regardless. Would be an interesting one.

  25. Last time I checked an agreement depends on all parties signing up – of course it has to be Celtic’s fault.

  26. Stevie Clarke would at least know the players and make us hard to beat in Europe… but i don’t think this board would be able to get him.

    What a shambles.

MARDOMINIC, wise words my mhan, especially the bit “… kept Lennon to spite the fans”. No matter what happens today/over the weekend that seems to me what happened at the time. The Great Desmondo was absolutely not going to appear to appease his customer base, no matter the cost to the club and its success.

Then the last bit of your post; “Ask him if he wants to come … if he doesn’t say yes then move on”. Any chance you could apply for a relevant post with Celtic, holding business viewpoints like that?

  28. Anybody surprised?

The Board we have is under qualified, egocentric and hopelessly unconnected with the support.

Might have helped if some of them actually knew something about running a football club or were even Celtic supporters.

    Too much to ask.

One day I’ll hear some good news.

    Not holding my breath.

  29. From Paul Larkin.

Cue an avalanche of “I didn’t want Eddie Howe anyway” posts. What more is needed for everyone to realise that the folk at the top of @CelticFC are not fit for purpose?

“In other words and if accurate, yet another proposed manager being told he can’t have his own staff.”

No, it’s not that. More likely they don’t want their families living under the fear of having their houses set fire to, who in their right mind would put their young families in that kind of environment! por cierto
