Manager and team must show stoic unity

1148

You can train to be a football player for years, hone your skills and work on your fitness, but there are situations you can never prepare for until you are in the spotlight.  Yesterday Mark Wilson had to field questions about his team-mates’ performance and his manager’s position, after another abject performance which drew criticisms from Neil Lennon towards the players.

Mark gave a textbook response to the BBC, “I don’t like slagging my team-mates off but we have to do better.

“Football is a result-driven game but we don’t want that [Neil Lennon sacked].  We are firmly behind the manager and we love working with him and the coaching staff.”

We should be in no doubt that harsh words are being spoken in the dressing room and team spirit must be awful, but the outside world need to see stoic unity.

  1. Peter Lawwell is doing a grand job, he has obviously been charged with balancing the books and he has balanced the books.

As for his director of football ego trip, he has failed drasticly.

I was standing with my dad with James Breen (Rector of St Patricks). Breen said, pointing at the Bank of Scotland Building “I got the firsy Catholic into that company I’ll have you know.”

My Father pointed at Father Michael J Dooley, a humble priest, and said ‘That man got a thousand protestants into heaven” and then winked at me.

By the way….greetinG!!!! The word as all working class urchins know is greetin. You’ll be telling us next that weans have been bawling. Castlemilk hoity toity grammar or what!

You are entitled to your opinion mate.

    serge

So tell us who are the Celtic fans, although I prefer supporters, on here, and who are those who are not?

  5. seanbhoy69

im not being cheeky mate but read my question….am i calling for the board to be sacked? am i asking for lenny to be sacked?

i am asking for people on here to give a yes or no, simple as. i am not a turncoat or a deserter, if you are suggesting that mate you clearly know nothing about me.

Yogi’s football pholosophy was a simple one. He said “It’s 11 blokes on a field having 11 square go’s”. I’d take that philosophy right this minute.

Would some of our prima donas?

  7. Evening again everyone, i need some technical help.

My laptop, everytime downloading microsoft updates, stops the connection to my wifi from working. I then have to go to the restore programme and go back to a safe date that everything was working fine. Process starts all over again when it realises it hasnt downloaded the new updates.

My firewall has blocked Google Chrome also. I would appreciate any help, or any info on any shops to try and get it fixed. It seems to have started after downloading the whole new windows programme.

My frustration with Celtic and this will see the said laptop trying to fly from a very great height!!

Okay, after spending 10 minutes on IMscouting.com, I’ve come up with three names (well, I just liked the name of the first one!) of top class, defensive midfielders getting into their mid-30’s, who could be capable of playing a Dave MacKay-type role in our defence:

Timmy Simons (6’1”, age 34, FC Nuremburg, 88 caps for Belgium).

David Albelda (6’0”, age 34, Valencia, 51 caps for Spain).

Torsten Frings (6’0”, age 34, FC Toronto, 79 caps for Germany).

Surely we could entice Frings from Toronto at least? You don’t get that many caps for Germany without having a winning mentality, and he could be just what we’re looking for in terms of putting an experienced, calming influence into our young team.

  9. all this talk on here about rangers .is set up to keep us away from talking about the big issues affecting our club which the truth be said is a shambles, so if you want to talk about rangers issues feel free and join up with them and give us peace, big yogi john collins, roy aitken, davy hay ,come on down

You mentioned earlier about “fans” changing allegiance.

Bullshit. They were never Celtic supporters in the first place.

  11. Lennon n Mc Mjallby

yes i know people who have supported celtic all their lives and travelled home and away who no longer follow the club, why is this?

and by the way i am being serious, dont have a go at me for stating facts ok. i am seriously worried about the direction or club is going and why celtic fans are choosing to do other things on a saturday

    serge

Those `tims` that you say who now look for the Liverpool or Man Utd score before the Celtic score

tells me everything I need to know about them then.

Circumstances change, such as jobs, country you live in, family commitments etc, but true Celtic supporters

    dont stop being Celtic supporters.

    It stays for life!!!

  13. If we get rid of PL and replace him with a new CE, what are the guarantees that the new kid on the block won’t adhere to the same guidelines set by DD?

We have a man there who could have, and could still, get us out of this mess.

Sadly, he prefers to play golf.

  14. Neil Lennon for manager was always a high risk strategy. But by the end of January 2011 I thought it had paid off in spades. Neil showed amazing character and the team responded like champions in waiting.

For me the mystery is why Celtic performed well under adverse conditions in the second half of 2010-2011 yet have fallen apart this season when circumstances are much more benign.

  15. Joe

    Are you being deliberately obtuse?

Every CEO following PL MUST carry out the wishes of the board. He/she and we might not like what the board’s plans are but as an employee he/she needs to abide by those plans.

  16. ElDiegoBhoy

and we all know you the biggest celtic fan on the planet because you use QCN 24 hours a day haha. like you would question these guys face to face wouldnt you.

you have the same mentality on here as alot of folk….its a tartan army mentality, lets get on with it eh…being second best is ok aslong as we have a good day out and we are faithfull through and through. wisen up.

I think your talkin rubbish, you want cqn to do a poll to see who does n doesn’t like NL and the board.

    Aye brilliant.

  18. S69- surely given the current form of the team, the manager, coaching staff, players and board, serious questions have to be asked.HH

As for his director of football ego trip, he has failed drasticly

for that alone ,he should be answerable to someone ,but who? He should also be binned for it.

  20. seanbhoy69

and like i said i know people who no longer follow the club and they were people who went to games home and away during rangers 9 in a row.

do you know mates who no longer go to the games????

+ every tim from ireland i know who i worked with in saudi arabia or madagascar over the last 3 years now would rather go to anfield or old trafford, thats a fact.

  21. Terry O- Ironically the spine of the team and the 2 weakest components- GK & CB- were the strongest yesterday- CM and CF we were woeful.

It is up front I am most concerned about, Hooper looks totally disinterested, a lazier player than Skippy and that is saying something; Stokesy could be a good sidekick to a main striker, Sammy won’t be given a chance and Bangura at this stage looks like a very poor signing (hope I am wrong).

I would go for one of the U-19’s but don’t want to see their confidence destroyed at such a tender age.

  22. Motherwell, ICT, Dunfermline, St Mirren, D Utd to come. 15 points available. It’s anybody’s guess what the table will be like after that.

  23. L & M

Is it so hard to do????? are you scared of the facts.

from your statement im assuming you think that i want rid of the board and lenny yes?????? answer me that will you.

100% correct if we fail to ask the questions we become a major part of the problem

  25. Seems to me we are split into 2 camps at the moment. Those for NL and those against. Theres an old saying, divide an conquer. Unity is strength.
