McCoist quite right to hold firm line

980

In terms of pure logic, Ally McCoist was quite right to insist, “I can also assure every Rangers fan I will not be accepting any talk of stripping the club of titles. That is something we will never accept and everyone at the club shares this view.”

It is outrageous to put Sevco in the position of accepting Rangers are stripped of previous league titles while due process has not been carried out.  The very fact that the SFA and SPL are negotiating with Sevco over this matter is reason enough for McCoist to issue a firm rebuttal.  Quite simply, if the authorities are prepared to negotiate, their offer should be rejected until the last moment possible, at which point they will be meekly accepted.

The SFA and SPL must allow due process to take place and remove any need for Sevco to rubber-stamp a judgement on Rangers.  It is wholly inappropriate to discuss or agree the consequences of a guilty verdict, or subsequent punishments (losing titles won illegally is not a punishment), until a verdict is recorded.

Due process, please, nothing more and nothing less.  If Rangers didn’t illegally register players for over a decade neither they nor Sevco have anything to worry about.

The story before the match was of which bowling attack was the stronger and there was English press questioning of Smith and his captaincy. Wonder what EnglishCricketQuickNews is saying.

I agree that the SFA’s first and foremost priority should be the protection of the game’s integrity at all levels. Until Regan and Ogilvie have both left office, the emphasis will be on self-justification and damage limitation, nothing more.

  8. Been watching the Open coverage on Sky Sport Italia. Had to escape, could no longer suffer the inane comments of Nick Faldo! Even the other commentators sound as if they have had enough of his constant drivel!

Void the tainted trophies, but I like Canamalar’s suggestion of honouring the cheated players & coaches.

    Parkhead……,

Any challenge must be made outside Scotland, I think that’s becoming obvious.

So IMO we need the city of London police involved, we have an angle here were our share price has been affected, I hope :o)

  16. re titles/trophies, looks like the vote is around 55%/45% in favour of having the titles. As you can see not vey scientific,if anyone wants to scroll back they can check the figures.

Ball retention is easier for players with high skill level.

It is also easier for lesser players when playing in a team that offers multiple outlets.

This is the remit of coaches to implement systems that include these conditions.

Our system seems to only allow an outlet sideways or backwards with forward movement reliant on a wide man beating his man and crossing. Our off the ball movement is non existent as is our ability to pass and move.

There is no central penetration of any kind.

We can talk of 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 , 5-3-2-1 but our coaching does not seem to implement them properly.

Perhaps the inexperience of our coaching staff is showing but a big improvement is needed in this area if we are to progress.

    FAN-A-TIC 1608

Joe Ledley filled that role when he was at Cardiff.

I always thought he was signed to play a similar position with Celtic, but he has had to adapt to the formation.

  26. Mick….

    In total agreement with you.

I want our titles back, the Hun sued for lost prize money and the perpetrators jailed.
