McGeouch suffers in friendly test

824

Friendly games are all about building match sharpness while hopefully avoiding injury.  Celtic were given an excellent opportunity to shape up against Real Madrid last night but a suspected broken jaw to Dylan McGeouch who was knocked unconscious will set the player back several weeks.

Henrik Larsson spectacularly returned to action after a double jaw break after three weeks in 2003, scoring with a header within minutes although he walked off the field after his injury without additional complications.  We wish Dylan a speedy recovery and hope to see him in Champions League action next month.

  2. Best wishes to Dylan for a full and speedy recovery. Bad break for a potentially great talent as his performance last night was indicating. Hope it only turns out to be a slight hiccup in his career.

  3. Henricks healing powers were a force of nature- for an average built guy he was as strong as an oak. He had phenomenal core strength…always loved the way he ragdolled Moore and that beefed up narcissist Amoruso…I’m no believer in genetics per se but if there ever was proof of heterosis then the King of Kings was it…Dylan no doubt will take a wee bit longer.

    Fellow Tims

I think we all share the same cynicism about the powers that have done their best to preserve the worst of Scotland and it would be easy to lose heart, but not yet, not yet.

There was to be a conference of Supporters Direct next Sunday at Falkirk to cover various issues totally unrelated to the main issue of today- the busted flush that is the SFA.

Interestingly that conference has been postponed and it clear from the announcement that the various supporter groups have played their part see http://www.supporters-direct.org/news/item/?n=15726&cat=sd_sco

In doing so they SD reps have asked all supporters to get in touch with SD to make their point. For Celtic supporters that can be done via the CST who were due to attend the postponed conference.

I urge all cqn readers to contact the CST to make their views known.

The SFA HAVE to heed SD, engaging with them is one of the initiiatives to come from the McLeish report and the CST will take forward the issues raised if enough supporters want to do more than allow the understandable cynicism at the establishment to deter them.

There is a parallel with spring 2010 when the CST took up a motion of a lack of confidence in the SFA’s ability to govern properly that did get the SFA’s attention and something on those lines from SD could not be ignored.

Some battles have been won but not the war and if ever the time was ripe to press advantage it is now to get a full enquiry into the SFA’s handling of ebtgate from 2000 that time is now.

    auldheid,

for me, the biggest issue is a rule book that has too many ambiguous rules with far too many “as deemed fit” clauses. Commission a moratorium on the rule books, to refine and remove the ambiguities, to ensure regardless of who is administering the rules, there are clearly defined procedures and sanctions for breach. Administration needs to be put in the hands of non football connected personnel.

Directors of football clubs be barred from office. Introduction of your ref idea.

  9. Foxy,

<Many thanks for posting the Leeds game, was actually in tears watching it. Knew exactly where I was standing right at the front of the Celtic end watching all the goals go in. Unforgettable experience. Billy Bremner mad tim but enjoyed his goal. Remember being at Elland Rd when we came out with orange socks on. Missed big Connellys goal as we scored too early. Bus broke down at Scotch Corner and had to wait about 12 hours for a replacement. Missed school but who cared.

CELTIC please lose the black socks, look at Foxy's post to see what a CELTIC strip should look like. No black socks and NO embellishments that associates US with them..

The big tally was indeed robbed! One of the worst hometown decisions I’ve ever seen! The commentators over here were going mental! Have Britain not won enough bloody gold medals?!

I believe that there is now a ‘contract’ out on the judges involved!

What a great name. Taken from The Sweeney? Trips off the tongue like Jack Reacher who I can’t believe is being played by the diminutive Tom Cruise on the big screen.
