I hope you are right Re staunch.

That would be a shallower pool of talent for sure.

I’m up early this morning going to Espania for a wee ten-day break. Couldn’t get back to sleep. Just discovered he’s been given his jotters, what a shame. Steve Davis and Alex Rae, jeez oh man, how good is this season still to get! por cierto.

    ……………..

    Have a GREAT Holiday mate.

Maybe by the time you get back the Huns will have been GUBBED in Europe, and then St Mirren also GUB them in the league on Sunday ?

    HH my friend.

  3. Quick question without Googling…

Which critter that’s just been staunchly installed into mismanagement actually started his formative football career with Celtic Boys Club ??

    So farewell then, Michael Beale.

At least we now know what MIKE stands for……….

    Maybe,

    I

    Know

    Eff all?

    That is correct Mick.

Celtic let him go, he went south to Bolton I think. Didn’t cut it there then went to St Johnstone.

  6. HRVATSKI – karreckt sir.

Coulda knocked me down with feather hearing him disclose that to Si Ferry.

Have they appointed Davis as they think that after Saturday they need snookers to win the league?

  8. Burnley @ 8:46

    “expectation and entitlement” – exactly!

Reminds me of that old saying “ fail to prepare and prepare to fail”

Murray’s debt and ducking & diving was to be a shortcut to European success – it didn’t work then and for twelve years the new entity still craves a ‘quick-fix’

We have our own internal critics and a few barrack- room lawyers with seemingly too much time on their hands – “ the devil finds work for idle hands”

Of course we would like to do better in Europe going forward, but we will only get chances if we keep winning domestically – so let’s keep winning domestically!!!!!

    Chapeau 😆

  10. Burnley78,

While I agree with you about the booing, which is a very rare occurence at Celtic Park these days, when I was a bhoy first attending Celtic matches, there was plenty of slow hand-clapping. It didn’t seem to have too much affect on the likes of the very young Billy McNeill or Bertie Auld.

  11. He talked about how it “was all about skill” at Celtic.

That was soon knocked out of him.

  12. Beale’s appointment off the back of a dozen QPR games seemed very risky at the time.

Let’s remember though that he took them on a good run when he came in last season – coming up short though against a better Celtic side when it mattered.

It’s the recruitment in the summer that’s done for him. Morelos, Kent, Tillman, Arfield were no world beaters but they could beat every other team bar us.

They’ve now got a squad loaded with inferior players and guys with far too many miles on the clock. I don’t see where the money for an overhaul is coming from.

It’s not an appealing job for any manager with serious ambition because they’ll know they won’t get the time or resources to challenge us.

And as for Brendan Rodgers, he’s only back and he’s already ended another Rangers manager’s career.

  13. I won’t lose any sleep over Beale going, nor would I had he stayed.

However, this feels like a token sacrifice by those who appointed him.

Several players were sold from under him and there is some ambiguity re how much he was able to reinvest.

Anyway, they remain a basket case and I’ll continue to give a cursory glance and an occasional chuckle. We have far more worthy opponents this year.

A huge thank you for posting that link. Alastair is a brilliant, intelligent gentleman who is as hard as nails. Our next captain, perhaps? If we can hold on to him that is.

  15. AN DÚN on 2ND OCTOBER 2023 10:31 AM

His good run was against standard SPL teams. he was found out as a manager as soon as he came up against us. And they finished the season poorly – 2 defeats and a draw with a victory in derby where we played a reserve 11. They finished 7 points off us and carried that form into their preseason and the cl qualifiers

Their derby loss at ibrox this season was an unbelievably bad performance from him, unless the players weren’t listening to him, which is also on him.

He’s an SPL standard manager who gets found out against decent opposition

  16. CLOUD9

We’ve won 12 out of the last 13 league titles and we’ve made absolutely no progress in Europe.

  17. Think that the sacking of Beale at this juncture is because they have Muscat lined-up. He ticks all the Ange-like boxes for them and Kevin himself will be dreaming of following the Ange route to the EPL eventually.

Ange’s stock is high and another Aussie will be easier to contemplate in the EPL…..but first he will have to pass the Scottish audition, just like Ange….G’day!!!

  18. European football has got to be our benchmark.

This is what will attract players, retain players and satisfy our manager’s aspiration.

Let’s return Parkhead to the fortress it once was and create more legendary nights under the lights.

    Believe.

  19. CLOUD9 on 2ND OCTOBER 2023 11:06 AM

I hope they do. They need more than a budget version of Ange, Muscat might be that, but he also could be just the sort of unimaginative appointment they specialise in.

Ange was a one-off appointment. It would be just the sort of idiotic Hun thinking to appoint Muscat hoping he’d replicate Ange’s success.

  20. Celtic knew all about Ange well before we appointed him. He was on our radar six months before we appointed him, we knew what we were getting.

The Huns only know about Muscat because of Ange, he’s had 5 minutes of success with a team that was second when he took over and had wont he title.

Whether he’s the sort of winner they need remains to be seen

  21. Muscat remains well-regarded in the A-league for his managerial success, tho it turned to custard in the end.

What’s interesting to note about Muscat is in the following vid of 3 of his sending offs (the 2nd is a super soft red, btw) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIC9oCc9A2s&t=131s

After x2 of them, he clearly crosses himself on the touchline before exiting the field. In penance, I guess?

The huns will like that he will have come across some Jap gems in his A-league time. They can get excited again.

Not so much the video clips where there’s clear signs of the cross by Musky.

  22. SPIKEYS…

I was going to post that we should be keeping our eyes on Monty. A top coaching prospect imo.

  23. Muscat has had success in Australia and Japan, just like Ange. Of course he would be a calculated risk, but then so was Ange.

If Beale was worth a try with his very limited managerial experience – then Muscat must be in with a shout.

The Ibrox club have an innate ability to ‘cock things up’ – we have allowed them to so do multiple times in the last twelve years without sticking our nose in – will they do so again?

  24. CLOUD9 on 2ND OCTOBER 2023 11:47 AM

So is every manager appointment. He isnt Ange and comes with his own unique set of risks

  25. if the Huns don’t move quickly for Muscat and Ange keeps impressing, someone in England, in the Championship, May take a punt and give him a shot, por cierto.
