Neil Lennon unlikely to have a case to answer

898

The SFA are entitled to ask Neil Lennon to explain his conduct at Ibrox on Sunday but I doubt he has a case to answer.  Neil accepted a warning during the first half from fourth official, Iain Brines, for contesting the decision to send off Cha Du-Ri, Brines did not regard this protest as sufficient to call the over referee.  Neil then spoke to referee Calum Murray at the end of the first half without incident or caution.

Murray clearly did not regard Lennon’s comments as worthy of dismissal from the technical area at that time and was did not call Neil to the referees’ room during the interval.  It was left to fourth official Iain Brines to deliver the news to the Celtic manager that he was ordered from the technical area.

Murray and Brines appear to have let the occasion get the better of them.  A referee must be clear in his mind before ordering a manager from the technical area and must take the correct steps necessary in doing so.  He cannot mutter a statement of intent to caution a manager without actually doing so.

  1. When Alex Thomson was first mentioned on CQN I posted stating we should e-mail him and inform him to not limit his scope to rangers but the whole rotten structure of Scotland and it’s anti-Catholic/anti-Irish stance.

A couple of CQN veteran’s advised me to be patient and let Mr Thomson uncover these things for himself.

After reading philmac today it appears they had wiser heads than I that day and that the National media are now beginning to realise what is really going on in our One Nation.

The whole camera thing is great in principle – in fact Police now use them in some areas when on foot patrol.

I think it would be good as unless Lenny suddenly becomes daft ( we know he isn’t/ won’t) it would keep him in check and it would record the scandalous treatment he receives.

However I think you need someone’s permission to tape them- so he may leave himself open to prosecution if he wore one?

All is slowly being brought into focus …

  12. y issue with Murray was that he seemed to apply the rules more harshly to one team than another. There was contact but Cha, sure, but it was outside the box and he wasn’t the last man. There was more contact when Ledley (I think) was wrestled to the ground sinddie the box – no foul.

Murray was the ref at the “shame game” – he was shouted at and manhandled by Rangers players but declined to offer so much as a yellow card, yet Lennon is sent off for questioning his first half performance? Even if Lennon raised his voice it doesn’t seem a banishing offence.

Establishment FC 3-0, 2 man advantage, with 3 minutes to play? Give they tims a pen AND send one of the peepel off – hah, that’ll stop them saying I favoured a side! Murray must have keeched himself when rogne scored!

Final point – how do we think the huns and the press would have reacted if Lennon stood in the tunnel and tried to shake Lafferty or McCulloch’s hand as they walked off having just been defeated?

  13. Celtic are going to sorely miss the legal brain and the personality of QC Paul McBride.

Can anyone suggest another QC,who would do at least as good a job as QC Paul McBride.

I saw the programme in question. When I read the post with yer mans name, I was just about to ask ‘Is that him that was in that programme etc…?’

Should that ever come to pass, he’ll make Craig Whyte look like Diamond Jim Brady….

  16. Here’s a question…..

If, before the game on Sunday, you had asked the following who they would rather see win (for whatever reason) what would their answer have been?

    The Police.

    The referees and officials.

    The SFA.

    The SPL.

    The administrators.

    The MSM.

    The creditors.

    The majority population of Scotland,

    etc etc

Shows what we’re up against. (only in my opinion of course)

Been an interesting debate on referees today. One quick question: I’ve always been under the impression that if you touch someone without their permission it could be deemed to be assault. Is that true?

If so, would be interesting to see Neil Lennon make a complaint at Pitt Street against Brines for the finger in the chest shot courtesy of the Sun. “Any witnesses?” “Yes, PC666 and PC999. Here’s a picture to prove it”.

Good spot. I was looking at Brines but I see now that Ally is briefing the police:

“Something needs to be done about him. You know what happened before.”

The police spoke with Murray prior to the game, I believe.

Brines sent off Van Hesseleink at Inverness for going to the crowd and it was said that the police had warned him that if he did not take action then they would.

Confirmation of the above would be welcome

To be prosecuted for assault it has has to be shown that there was violent intent or the victim feared violence.

  23. Btw I have seen from BRT&H and others that speaking to refs at the half is a well-estabkished no-no. If that’s the case lenny’s in the stand. End of. And e ven if he spoke in hushed terms, the rfc msm will have him ranting and raving…
