Newco spend a penny then PR turns on Celtic fans

993

You may have read a story released by Newco’s PR agent to their go-to Glove Puppet in the media about a dispute over payment for damages to Celtic Park when Newco fans made their first visit to the stadium.

I heard before the Hogmanay game that Newco would be paying the damages their fans did on that occasion, and that Celtic would pay for any damage caused by our fans Ibrox that week. What I didn’t know at the time was that Celtic unilaterally decided this would be the case.

Concerned there may be reprisals following the vandalism to Celtic Park, the club informed Newco they would let it be known that we would pay for any damage to Ibrox by visiting fans – as long as we could inspect the damage we would be charged for.

The Hogmanay match passed without incident; tea light candles were left in visiting toilets to diffuse washroom odours, Celtic were not taken up on their offer to inspect and pay for damage, none was reported to match observers, police or Celtic.

Celtic had earlier issued Newco with a request for payment for the vandalism their fans inflicted on our stadium. Payment was not received, so this week we withheld the same amount from ticket money due to Newco.

The issue is finished; no one is withholding money from Celtic. There is no story.

We’ve not had to deal with nonsense like this for four years and we’d gladly never deal with it again. The issue was placed in the media today by PR, alluding to damages Celtic offered to pay for, but which didn’t happen. Be clear on this – Celtic offered to pay for any damages but no damage was reported.  The PR stunt is a deliberate attempt to damage the good reputation of Celtic fans.  Is it any wonder print media sales are dropping off at such an alarming rate for some?

Let’s remember, this is the same PR used by SPFL sponsor, Ladbrokes, an unacceptable action by a representative of the league’s sponsor.  It’s as though some are too angry to stomach the great news that Celtic have secured the £2.8m signing of Ivorian Kouassi Eboue without lashing out.

The club are delighted to have secured Kouassi. Despite his age, he’s first team ready, and has the character and ability to go a long way in the game. Between now and our cup finals in August, he’ll settle into Scotland and into a championship winning team.

The scottish establishment -government dont utter a peep about his misdemeanours.

Why has there been zero questioning about his knighthood?

Or about his taking millions from the Bank of Scotland?

It must be more than masonic and hun connections.

  9. BRTH,

    Thanks for the info.

I will be based in the south at Sao Bras de Alportal but intend travelling up to Lisbon to join with fellow CQN celebrants for the main events/dates.

In the absence of any CQN coordinated strategy, is it possible for you to get my email address from Paul, so I may meet up with your group in Lisbon?

  15. What is changing is that the events that have enabled or required (depending on how you look at it) SMSM to stay quiet are slowly drawing to a close.

The 6th veil, the legality of MGMRT trust ebts (aka BTC) will be lifted in March. Much thereafter will be governed by the decision of the Supreme Court. If HMRC win LNS ironically will be cited as logical reasons why sporting advantage did accrue. Asterisk titles, so better prepare for such an eventuality.

HMRC lose and there will be demands for HMRC heads, who in their defense will reveal just how accommodating they were in an attempt at being paid the wtc bill in 2011.

CW trial April with conclusions of both that and Supreme Court by June and the seventh veil will fall.

Journos already know what will then be revealed, have done for a while in some cases but the veil of secrecy will be lifted.

The ramifications will cause ripples on SDM’s shoreline but it is also posible CW will drop some large pebbles into the pond….

That’s what’s changing. Time doing what it always does, putting a more accurate perspective on the past as it rolls on.

  16. Do the Huns still do the damnbusters thing at games? Just wondering.

Sure that would go down a storm today.

  17. The same Gordon Waddell who wrote in the SM a few years ago that if the huns changed ‘up to our knees in Celtic blood’ rather than ‘fenian blood’, it would be perfectly acceptable?. He should have been sacked and the rag banned from CP

  19. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan on

    Note:

Gordon Waddell sits on the board of the Falkirk FC Foundation.

Within football, the Falkirk Foundation gets a very good reputation for organising kids football, youth events, and various other events whoch all relate to their own local area. The events and organisation are award winning and highly regarded.

Of course there are no big budgets, no massive cash injections, and they are very dependent on local support and good management.

One of the key purposes is to foster local support, emphasise the identity of Falkirk FC, grow local support and make sure that the kids in the area support their local club. Everything a small regional foundation should be.

I wanted to work there a while back but alas it was not to be.

Anyway, what Gordon Waddell is screaming is that things have changed in 5 years. Eyes have been opened in terms of business. Clubs outwith Celtic and Rangers have business people about them who can organise, manage, apply the rules and run things properly. More importantly, they can plainly see when they are not run properly, when the rules are being flaunted, when there is a lack of professionalism and when there seems to be a sense of entitlement and an expectancy of success at the cost of others when there is nothing that backs up that expectancy in a business and professional sense.

People in football can see, smell and taste crap when it is served up.

However, some journo’s and their editors will never acknowledge crap until the day they know that reporting the true state of crap will sell more copies than spouting the never ending hopeful Celtic v Rangers rivalry rubbish that is being hyped and re-hyped in the hope that it will lead to the recovery of the print press and the return to the copy numbers of decades ago.

Aberdeen, Hearts and others are all capable of managing a business that will yield a far more successful football team than the current Ibrox business version and it will take journo’s from the regions to get that message over.

The Glasgow hacks have their instructions and in the main they dare not depart from the “Glasgow” script!

For the avoidance of doubt I am no great fan of Waddell and even his “connections” and I have no doubt he is no great fan of Celtic etc — read my post carefully. There is a lot not said there perhaps.

What is the case is that other clubs, and perhaps people, can see what may well happen, what won’t happen, what can’t happen and what should happen.

Perhaps their attention, which may well once have been heaped on Ibrox, is now being focused elsewhere.

Something that was always going to happen IMO.

  24. Celtic Blogs, telling us what’s going on over in Leipzig, personally I couldn’t care less what they are up to,me it’s Celtic and that’s all that matters,as far as the media in Scotland ,to them they, the Huns ,are the only show in town, that’s who buys there rags,I have never bought a paper for years,I get the truth on some Celtic Blogs,as for the others who seem to be obsessed.with the Huns, talk up the Hoops ,the others are irrelevant.

  25. Don’t forget how many lift-overs inflated the visible crowd back in the day without a penny due to taxable income.

Who could possibly ever quantify the ratio between payers and the lifted-over.

To Celtic’s historical credit I say.

There are converts and then there are converts.

Some become evangelical about Truth and Enlightenment, having discovered it for themselves.

Others can barely discuss it,bitter about their previous days in darkness,or even wishing for past pleasures of the flesh.

Waddell is the latter. As are most of his colleagues. They’ll return to their usual ways the minute a new Forlorn Hope lurches into the horizon.
