New Uefa seeding rules this year mean that teams in Champions League Pot 2 have a higher aggregate coefficient value than teams in Pot 1. So Barcelona (we’re bound to avoid them now they look a little lost), Atletico, PSG, Borussia Dortmund and the Manchester twins. Only Sevilla and Porto would provide some comfort, the latter, in particular.
From Pot 1 we could do worse than our old friends Spartak Moscow (18 coefficient points), although Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica and Monaco would be decent draws.
As our primary objective is to remain in Europe after Christmas, the real battleground for Celtic is in Pot 3. I’d proverbially bite your hand off for Olympiakos, Anderlecht or Besiktas, even Basel would be acceptable. Prefer to avoid the Italians of Napoli and Roma, as well as Liverpool.
Remember, don’t go booking flights before the final confirmation of dates is concluded.
Hospitality for four on Saturday: meals, bar, Directors’ Box tickets, the lot!!
Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have offered four full hospitality tickets for Saturday’s game against St Johnstone. You and three friends could benefit from a stunning pre-match meal in the Walfrid, halftime refreshments, as well as a complimentary bar before and after the game.
You will also watch the game from the Directors’ Box. In collaboration with this raffle, we are raising money for Mary’s Meals. Over 3,000 children in Malawi and Liberia eat each school day in a kitchen supported by Celtic Quick News readers. You can donate a minimum of £5 here.
To win, email your MyDonate confirmation to me, celticquicknews@gmail.com with the answer to this question IN THE SUBJECT LINE:
How many Champions League qualifying games have Celtic played in the Astana Arena before Tuesday?
Other emails with the correct answer will also be considered. Competition closes at 14:00 THIS AFTERNOON (i.e. minutes away from publication time of this article). You need to be able to collect your tickets in Glasgow on Friday. Please ensure you leave reliable contact information on your email. Good luck!

We can get 8 points from this group.
Last years group was more difficult, plus we have improved since then. Paddy in followed by another 1/2 first team picks.
Ye listening Peter?-))
Group G looked the easiest
Groups C, D, E, F and H were to be avoided.
Toss up between A and B – meant beating either Basel or Anderlecht for 3rd place.
Think we did ok all things considered – COYBIG.
Now Nike Friday, HT player intros Saturday and then a 2 week international break to get players fit and new boys bedded in. Oh and 7 days till the transfer window closes ..
honestly we are currently always playing for 3rd place and our section position will be determined by our results against the 3rd pot team, all to play for , a great feeling and talking points once again.
I won over £122 last Saturday when my 3 horses won.
I only staked £1.
Its been a good week, especially since I was drinking on Tuesday and Wednesday…but I took today off the drink…back on it tmorra.
HH
I cannot figure bow Anderlecht are pot 3 team. Maybe I’m missing something.

Massive day for the Zombies, as they discover which European big boys they’ll be inviting to Murray Park.
Really really happy with the draw, the PSG side that pumped
us 3-0 at Celtic Park back in the day were top notch.

Beat one of the big two at home-I think we play Bayern at CP in the first game-and let the fun begin.
Not the least bit worried about that group. In fact, payday the morra, and I’m putting it all on us to win the group.
LOL,wish I was your Bookie.
Big Jimmy
My Bayern/ Celtic supporting German mate just texted me. He canny wait to come back to Paradise.

On PaddyPower, favourites to win outright are Real Madrid at 4/1 then it is Bayern at 6/1 then PSG at 13/2. So we are up against the 2nd and 3rd favourites! We’re on 150/1 ahead of Anderlecht at 500/1.
Right,I have read enough.Too many trying far too hard to kid themselves on.
A horrible draw. One we could ,once again be humiliated in.Thats my biggest fear.
A massive amount of work to be done before the 1st leg.Injuries,signings..
Not pleased.

*think only Calum is on a break as the rest of the squad will be on their travels
Anderlecht = pretty horrible fans I think.
There’s a coup missing a chicken somewhere
ffs Turkey Bhoy have faith in Brendan & The Bhoys.
It’s not the end of the world.
It could have been worse, yeah in Spurs Group.
European football is achievable beyond new year
& Bayern/PSG & Anderlecht will not not look forward
to coming to fortress CP & with us the 12th men
getting behind the team it’s a no brainer.
We will do better than what we done last term
out so it’s not all doom & gloom.
COYBIG
Any spares for Allianz Arena?? :)))
Wanted to avoid the English teams so happy with that. I don’t think PSG or Anderlecht will relish coming to CP and we can beat them at home.
Bayern will be very difficult but still it’s a great test for our young Celts.
Hx2
Right, now that’s out the way, have we signed anyone?
Get a move on Celts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
turkeybhoy
The new neganon!
Turkeybhoy,
I think it’s easier than last year (a bit). The key is Anderlecht.
No point getting upset about it though, its the CL, it would actually be a miracle if we got an “easy” draw from Pot4. Though it would be nice to get a kinder draw once in a while.

Hoping Dedryk and Moussa will be looking to be fit in September, Kouassi on the road back and players like Sinclair, Ntcham and McGregor getting some rest hopefully plus of course our new signings getting used to the set up!
If we draw against Bayern and PSG at home, beat Anderlecht home and away, lose away to Bayern and pump the froggies in their midden we could win the group!
Very positive!
6 points would be amazing and enough to get us 3rd
Quite happy with the draw.
TURKEYBHOY. The C.L. is all about playing the best teams in World football and seeing how you fair there are no easy groups. I for one am delighted we are there and im sure Celtic will raise there game and for me we have a real chance of finishing third and qualfying for the Europa cup after Christmas.Come on you Bhoys in Green. H.H.
TURKEYBHOY
I was kidding about betting us to win,and aye,it’s a hard group. But every team will have wanted to avoid us in Pot 4. Potential banana-skin which could be the difference between first and second in the group.
Thatsthe big worry for the bigger teams. We should use that to our advantage. I certainly don’t think we’ll lose all four games against Bayern and PSG.
You missed out the “at least”.
Guid, guid, guid stuff for the Cellic…..
Cellic tae win the Europa League trophy….
….it is written….
…..oot.
Nae English——
Nae Spanish——–
Nae Italians——–
And still Nae bloody Luck———.
H.H
NOt only is it easier than last year
We’re better than last year
IL be hoping for a home win on each of the three occasions
As usual
And I’ve been correct on many an occasion
Can’t seem to find any direct flights to Bayern. Where in Germany is it ?
Some nice options on away trips, and a very real possibility of 3rd place, which would represent Progres for us.
Small steps…..
delighted with the draw , whats not to like , missed all our old usual suspects , onwards and upwards.
Looking forward to seeing Ncham and Dembele playing together it will be some matchup against the French. These lads will be really out to impress.
