Our injury-prone great

275

For a club which habitually loses its exceptional players, having one too injury prone to tempt the top English sides is no bad thing.

Cameron Carter-Vickers meets at least two of these criteria, he is exceptional and, of late, has been injury prone.

Celtic have lots of games against significantly weaker opposition, we can afford to rest Cameron and save him for the trickier games. After a knee-related twinge and a clear scan, he’s likely to start on Saturday against St Johnstone. The season is at that stage of tricky.

I feel we should rest him so that any pain has gone before the more difficult challenges to come, but there will be relief to see him on the line-up on Saturday.

We were playing Hibs and I was driving whilst listening to the game on the radio.

We scored, but I had to ask my wife if we had just scored because Begg’s reaction was so muted.

  5. Maestro, Not sure if she is interested in Historical Stuff but if she is ,Kilmainhan Jail is a worthwhile visit & Hop on Hop off, will drop her to door.

Glasnevin Cemetery another worthwhile visit but in the current weather might be too exposed & cold.

Part of Dublin across O’Connell Bridge towards Grafton Street is well worth a visit, takes in Dublin Castle, Trinity College etc,

There are regular walking Tours from Dublin Castle, usually by Students, they are “free”but normally everyone gives a Tip. A lovely way to see an interesting part of Dublin and the Students are usually a good craic so it’s a bit of a laugh as well.

Tour also includes,Temple Bar, no problem walking through it, but not a place to go out & party, good craic OK but price of Drink a total rip off.

Dublin is expensive anyway but Temple Bar really takes the piss.

Well Philly boy’s battlers not for Dublin.Imagine these drunken foul mouth oafs repeating their all too familiar acts of violence against the good folk of the Irish capital.Thousands of rampaging thugs destroying the normal activities of decent folk.I guess those in authority would have informed the powers that be,that under no circumstances, should this ‘ club’ and its destructive fan base be allowed to participate in Dublin. The past record of this fan base is one of violence where ever they visit.A dossier on these thugs can be easily obtained, places they have visited and the carnage they left in their wake.

    WELL DONE BENFICA!

    Nice one Teabhoy!

I’ve actually gone onto a bottle of fairtrade organic, Argentinian Malbec from CO-OP, which was £11.50 and is even better than the Tesco one I’ve recommended.

Good to see the Israeli clubs out in my opinion.

The teams who played rangers all out aside from Benfica obviously. A poor Benfica side at that.

Athletico now in Qtr finals after beating runaway Italian leaders and last years finalists. We drew with Athletico and they were holding on. Lazio beat Bayern but lost over 2 legs.

Rangers actually won only 3 or 4 out of 12 games in Europe despite low level opposition. Yet they are hailed as having a great run.

We didn’t do well but at a much higher level.

    Re Bobby Sands.

On CQN over the years discussion have ranged from Trump to Thatcher Gaza to Israel and the No/ Yes campaign in Scotland. I’m sure there is more issues I have failed to mention that has been discussed. If the topic irks one then feel free to ignore. Some on this site have an interest about tbe writings of a person whose life is coming to an end. If CQN was all about Celtic… then it has failed.

    ===========================

Kinglubo BJBs answer is correct, with respect you do not know your history,if you are offended at the posting of Bobby Sands rip diaries you are offended at the genocide and oppression that our club was founded. The state behind that genocide and oppression is the same state who those 10 men paid the ultimate price rebelling against.

I would wager Bobby would have been a Celtic man, many of those who were volunteers with him in the cages before burndown were.

If you know your history add to it KL

If you are a reader go read Brendan Sweeneys Celtic ‘The Early years’1887-92,our club was supported from day one by fenians,IRB,IRA and was a base for Irelands home rule movement here in Scotland, the same men as Bobby Sands, that thread is still alive in Celtic today(look at latest marketing of jerseys) tricolour flying high.if you dont like that facet of Celtics social, economic and political make up scroll by,but it is the same engine that drives Celtic,a football club in Scotland,to be the finest example of the irish diaspora at work on the planet.

Bert Kassies has now updated his site with tonight’s results.

Scotland hanging on by a thread.

    Czech Republic are clear favourites.

Will come down to the draw tomorrow.

Plenty of teams in the last eight who, on paper, Plzen could comfortably squeeze a draw against in a single leg.

    Hopefully they get Aston Villa.

PS – this is a golden period for Scotland’s coefficient.

Over the next two seasons, two bumper years 19/20 & 20/21 will drop off.

Scotland (10th) will lose 18.25 points.

The countries placed 11th to 17th (all within 6½ points of us) will lose in the range of 9.1 to 12.5 points

Plus Greece at #17 still have two teams left in Euro competition this year.

    Enjoy it.

  23. Firstly, I got the Result TOTALLY WRONG with the Huns v Benfica.

Although I did stick a couple of Quid on Benfica just before the Kick Off, but my predicted 1 – 2 correct score didn’t happen.

    NO MATTER…

    LOL

While Benfica did NOT totally ” Bottle It” as I wrongly predicted, their ” Strikers” appeared to get Nose Bleeds within 20 yards of the Huns Goal.

It was HILARIOUS to watch the Benfica fans celebrate their Goal, only for it ruled as OFFSIDE, with the Linesmans Flag going up….and as it did, the TV Camera went on the Hun fans laughing and making some very rude gestures to the Benfica fans….That is until VAR STEPPED IN…….and the Onfield decision was overturned, and Benfica’s Goal was NOT OFFSIDE, as the Goal scorer was inside his own half when the ball was Played .

Those Hun fans MUST have been SICK, when the Benfica fans began celebrating once again and laughing at the Huns !

Just a PITY that the TV Cameras did NOT go onto the faces of those Hun fans at that moment…I wonder ” WHY” ?

While I am happy to se the Huns getting GUBBED in their ain midden, I was STILL was NOT overly impressed with Benfica last night.

The Huns manager is TRYING to give the Hun support encouragement this morning, as HE claims that his Players Played very well Blah, Blah…I LOST COUNT of the NUMEROUS occasions that that the Huns gave the ball AWAY…at times those so called ” Excellent” Hun players had the Hun fans screaming at them with every misplaced pass !

McCOIST on TV was also guilty of reminding everyone watching that Benfica had a ” World Cup Winner” in ” DI MARIA” in their side….Mr DI MARIA is well past his SELL BY Date, and over the Two games v the Huns, he hardly kicked a Ball. He was a HINDERANCE” to Benfica…He played crap over the Two games.

I hope ALL the Hun fans got SOAKED !

    LOL
