  1. TET,

BR also said no concrete offers on the table….as far as he is aware…..wouldn’t be in the least surprised if Moussa’s agent is the real agitator for a move…..that’s fitbaw ;-))

  2. Lisbon Lions Upper on

Not vintage but far from the worst. The sense of entitlement from some is getting preposterous.

News flash – The Lions did not cuff teams every week.

This time tomorrow we will either have a double digit lead at the top, or be 14 points ahead of Sevco.

    Yeah it’s all crap…….

  3. So the media have been running with Moussa to anybody stories since he ripped Sevco a new last season but it’s Celtic who are trying to punt him.

When Celtic put an outrageous price tag on him last season the laptop loyal, and their correspondent on here, claimed we were being stupid as he was nowhere near God enough to be worth that amount of money. Maybe that price tag was an attempt to preempt the media. It didn’t work they, and their plant, continued to float stories about non existent multi million, but less than half our valuation, pound bids. So we now have Moussa unsettled, but if the media, and their plant, are to be believed Celtic are trying to punt him.

OH by the way we won 2-1 plant.

  4. If we are trying to punt Dembele now rather than the summer, when he would be leaving anywhere, is because we don’t trust him not to break down with injury again. When he’s played this season he’s looked like he’s not playing at 100% as he doesn’t trust his hamstrings.

  5. JimBob,

Ajer was dreadful. But that happens with young players. Boyatta was woeful as well, but he is now an experienced pro for us. I think he needs replaced this summer.

Trying to put a positive spin on things, our creative midfield has been seriously weakened through injuries to Paddy, Tom, Armstrong… and Hayes got injured just as he was showing some form. Once some or all of these guys are back we should be a better proposition.

But in our last 2 league games we’ve been murder to watch.

  6. As it stands we’d be mad to pay E7million for Edouard. I’d prefer that wee nyaff Morelos in the team.

  7. LL Upper, spot on my friend, as Brendan said in his interview after 76 games it isn’t bad :)

Would have taken the result before the game, thought young Edouard was so much better in the 2nd half when playing on the turn and running and also thought Ajer was again very good considering his age and experience. SS looked soooooo much better too.

  8. Owen,

he was nowhere near God enough

  9. Delighted with that, a crucial 3 points. Kudos to Brendan for making the changes and the players for stepping up. Griff was the talisman and he made all the difference. Don’t know where Lustig goes from here, haven’t seen it again but he looked a touch fortunate not to see red. Brendan showed his ruthless side by taking him off. One thing is for sure, reinforcements are needed. Anyway, enjoying the win with a cup of tea.

Am I entitled? Or am I just expecting us to deliver in a way that our huge resource advantage should enable us to??

I don’t think that aspiring to better than a scrappy scrappy doo 1-0 win over a struggling league rival with a tiny % of our skill set and budget should be seen as being spoilt, complacent or having an undue sense of entitlement.

Rather I’d see it as a fair and reasonable expectation, a SMART objective as it were.

To posit otherwise for me smacks of expectation management which further underlines our poor season vis-a-vis last year.

  11. I think we need to be more positive from the off. In the SPFL, we don’t need to keep playing around at the back. Pass the ball forward and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) in front of the player where possible. Way too often we pass the ball to the side or behind the receiving player. Slows the game right down to the advantage of our opponents.

    We won and deservedly so.

  12. TLT

It all depends on who you choose to believe I suppose, Brendan will toe the party line, any manager will, only going by what I read on all the blogs the majority seems to think that it’s the club and NOT Moussa or his agent angling for the move, they are on record last year stating that a couple of years at Celtic then they will assess things, I understand that things may change but for once I am not believing the spin from the club.

  13. Fan-a-tic

Agree to many pointless ineffective passes.keep possession if its gonna get opposition turning and opening up.we look scared especially full backs.our central defence(and sometimes goalie) should not be our playmakers and far too often this is the case.a good result but far from good performance

  14. JIMBOB on 23RD JANUARY 2018 10:00 PM

Ajer is a 19 year old who is, in general, very comfortable on the ball. He didn’t have a good game tonight, it happens with youngsters. He’s played 6 successive games, we’ve lost one goal, a penalty which was the fault of our most experienced defender.

  15. THELURKINTIM

Not Freudian, I have many issues but I’m not that mental, merely autocorrect on my smartphone making me look stupid. Soon it will be Sky net and the rise of the machines.

Now where did I put that tinfoil hat

If Edouard was to be anything like that fee it would be dependant on a lot of clauses over many years. We wouldn’t pay that much up front for anyone.

  18. Lustig looks to have lost his ability to get forward. His passing is slow and quite inaccurate, and his positioning is often suspect.

The penalty tonight was a fiasco – a totally self-inflicted wound – and I bet Beaton is kicking himself he didn’t red card him.

  19. i am still of the opinion that the curtsey -pirouette rule before a back pass to the goalie would be awfy braw to watch…

smiley oot oh the box thing …

    Braw

  20. G64

It’s possible, but I don’t believe he does.

Look, I will praise Pedro when he deserves it, I will praise the board when they deserve it, but I will not believe the spin all the time.

They have shafted us over Res 12, they condone the cheating and the corruption by their silence, they are obsessed by money, mark my words, we will go into the last part of the season weaker than we entered it, it’s all about the muney.

They will imo force Brendan out the door cos of their biscuit tin mentality.

I know fine well things seem to be going well just now……

  21. Gary67

Ajer will be absolutely top class in a few years, he is growing into the position week by week. The surges forward in the 2nd half show a growing confidence that I personally love.

Stick Compper beside him and you’ll see him grow very quickly.

  22. Jamesgang…..the voice of reason on here….who’d ‘av think it ;-))

  23. Play the youngsters we cry, the youngster plays, he’s no ready we cry:))

BR is doing quite a smart thing within reason I reckon, he has to see if Eduoard has what it takes to play for us and the same with Young Kris, they’ll both have better games than tonight but they didn’t let any one down tonight either, lessons learned and another game in the top flight.

How else are we to bring the yoof on??

Our best passers are injured, PR and TR both players who can find an incisive pass or a goal out of nothing. CMcG is off the boil that’s been clear for weeks and Broony is not that man, that leaves ON with that duty and I thought he played well tonight.

Not vintage but there are mitigating circumstances.

BR is not looking for a no.10 for nothing but as Cris Davies said they’re looking for the right players not just numbers..

    Bring on The Hibs!

  24. 21NOV2006 on 23RD JANUARY 2018 10:17 PM

Exactly. He’s playing beside Boyata, a good defender but not comfortable on the ball, on his weaker side, the left, and over the 6 games has been our best defender (tonight his worst performance). Compper being a left sided experienced central defender will help with his development

  25. LISBON LIONS UPPER on 23RD JANUARY 2018 10:03 PM

Not vintage but far from the worst. The sense of entitlement from some is getting preposterous. News flash – The Lions did not cuff teams every week.

*nor did Jock’s very good NIAR and post Lisbon side either. I said earlier that I never saw us lose at Firhill and then someone mentioned a defeat after the excellent Basle game where the Fife Beckenbauer broke his leg.

I was at that game and 2 goals from Ronnie Glavin both laid on by Stevie Chalmers led us to defeat. The following week we fortuitously drew with the Super Sons at Parkheid.

Still won the League to make it NIAR and also the Scottish Cup for another double.

  26. TimJim,

Wh? because he’s a Sevco player? He’s not brilliant, but I think he has more goals in him than Edouard.

  27. Why is it that when Celtic say something they are lying but when someone in the media says something that puts Celtic in a bad light they are immediately believed.

Celtic have being saying since Brendan Rogers arrived that we do not, repeat not, have to sell any of our players. The media on the other hand have been punting our best players for peanuts at the same time. Guess who are believed.

Would it kill people to, maybe, consider that the media and not Celtic’s board of directors are the enemy.

Enjoyed the game but back to lurking for me.
