Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67

Reason to enjoy Wednesday night number 67: Victor Wanyama didn’t get booked.

21-year-old Victor is a fabulous talent but he has also been a tad rash in his earlier Champions League outings this season.  One more yellow card will bring a suspension but his timing, and more importantly, his concentration, on Wednesday was excellent. This is a player maturing; more to come.

The 1254125 charity cycle left Lurgan this morning for Belfast port where they caught a ferry to Cairnryan. After they set wheel on Scotland they have a 37 mile cycle to Maybole, 7 miles of which is uphill, one of the most difficult parts of the endeavour.

They are people with the spirit of this club pumping through their veins right now. Check out their everyclick page for more information.

  1. Mikael Lustig had to go off injured on Wednesday – anybody got any update on how serious the injury is? Cheers in advance for any info!

  2. Anybody willing to have a stab at the starting line-up for today?

Absolutely NO bloody idea from a personal perspective!

  3. Congratulations to Matteo Manassero on winning the Singapore Open.

Third tour win aged just 19. A year older than oor Tony!

    Forza Italia and Forza Celtic!!

    HH!!

  4. Just read a report in the Hootsman which claims that Lustig was sufferring from the same virus that ruled out Broponie. Dunno if there is any truth in that.

  7. guy’s, i live In Glasgow and born a catholic and brought up with a good sense of decency but Im grown up and non practising. I dont want religion or politics to ever come into supporting our amazing club. As WE know we are THE club that are respected around the globe because we are opened to every race, colour and creed. Anyone of any back ground can come to our magnificent stadium and be wholly accepted. The red poppy was there to commemorate casualties of the war, regardless of their religion or Colour. Lets not let the braindead bigots across the city make it mean anything else. We are better than that

    Big Pierre’s Two Front Teeth,

    Well said that man!

  8. Thanks for your line-up punts guys – looking good to me! Hope Mikael will be fit – he’s been brilliant of late.

  9. Good morning friend sfrom a beautifully bright and almost sunny (contrary to my own fuzzy head!) East Kilbride. Today I am privileged to yet again be attending Celtic Park. Can’t wait!

  10. Hamilton Tim,

Broonie has a virus so could possibly be fit for today’s game. Hoops is being reported as “being fit for the Benfica match”. No update on James Forrest.

  11. Celtic, Celtic thats the team for me,

    Celtic, Celtic on to victory,

They’re the finest team in Scotland, I’m sure you will agree,

We’ll never give up till we’ve won the cup and the scottish football

    league.

They come from bonnie Scotland, they come from county Cork,

They come from dear old Donegal and even from New York,

From every street in Glasgow they proudly make their way,

To a place called dear old paradise and this is what they say.

Ther e’s Fallon, Young and Gemmel who proudly wear the green,

There’s Clark, McNeill and Kennedy the best there;s ever been,

Jim Johnstone, Murdoch, Chalmers, John Divers and John Hughes,

And sixty thousand Celtic fans who proudly shout the news.

  12. Blanket on, too hot. Blanket off, too cold. One leg out, perfect. Til’ the big horrible monster called Hairy Toes grabs me and drags me down the stair.

    Mon the Hoops CSC

  13. According to the bbc sport Lustig will shake off a hip knock picked up on Wednesday and play today……………

  14. goldstar

Ha ha – you cannot be Sirius.

EuroChamps67 wants you at the Gazebo for 12.00 I’ve tried to explain to him it’s a 3.00 k.o. and even the original ole greetin ‘Face’ Rod Stewart won’t be there.

  15. A fast start today and we can blow St J away again. The players must be absolutely buzzing after Wednesday and everyone will be desperate to play.

No idea what the team will be but Tony Watt must start. What confidence the bhoy has.

  16. Enjoy the game today Bhoys & Ghirls

I cant wait to get there after missing wednesday.

I realise when I put on my scarf i am an ambassador for my club, not only in the ground but on the way and back from the game.

So today I will put all personal opinions to one side and remember I am Celtic.

Everyone else can make up their own minds but that is my humble view.

C’MON THE HOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS,ohhhhh and big EFe to score at anytime in 90mins :))

Off to St Bernards to give thanks for what I have, again HAVE A GREAT DAY AND MAY ONLY GOOD THINGS COME YOUR WAY

  17. A special well done to Mikael Lustig – he has been outstanding for us this season.

    Arguably our most improved player.

It’s plain to see that our scouting team can recognise a good player when they see him.

Well done to them too – keep up the good work!

    HH!!

  18. Well back to the bread and butter stuff today.

Would fully expect wholesale changes in the starting eleven today.

A lot of guys will have been physically drained after Wed. or maybe it’s a bit different after a massive win.

Michu is getting better with every game (getting up to speed) so hope he starts.

Sammi also needs game time. Don’t know if Lenny will give young Tony the full 90

    or the last 30.

Also wouldn’t be surprised to see Paddy starting

Games like today are the reason we have a large squad

  19. Just a wee thing about our dropping home attendances .

They are not totally linked to the economic climate.

When I travelled to Barcelona , I bumped into 5 former season ticket holders.

All of them Barca bound to enjoy the foreign trip and to take in the match.

The cost of there one of trip was less that a season ticket.

If they really wanted to SUPPORT the club, then they could do it financially aswell as physically,by buying a season ticket and missing one Euro trip.

Part time Charlies who only want to pick and choose the big games.

Their season tickets were bought during the MON era.

They were rarely near Celtic park during the Brady and Macari years.

They have found other things to do with their Saturdays /Sundays now.

We have far too many part time supporters.

My criticism is not aimed at those who cannot financially or geographically make it to matches.

These people can afford it,they just choose to be big time Charlies, and indeed probably make less of a sacrifice than some who can only truly afford to attend a few matches a season.

  20. Andrew67

There are guys on my bus who don’t have season tickets or attend games at Parkhead but never miss an away game.

I just had a look at that Celtic FanPic thing from Wednesday’s game. I’ve been airbrushed from history.

I never left my seat all night and I’m not in the pic. I’ve never been photogenic anyway, and was probably biting my nails.

  22. Bit of advice guys.

I’m entertaining some business clients tonight and they love Indian curries. Can anyone recommend the best curry house in Glasgow. They are staying at the Hilton so I assume that there are a few good curry places in that part of town. I have heard Mister Singhs is good but any help/info would be much appreciated. Busy day today with the wee man at the footsie the out tonight.. Ah we’ll it saves me doing any household chores that the wife can dream up.

    4-1 today.

    Mon the hoops

I’ll SECOND that about Mikael Lustig – absolutely brilliant player. Totally unrecognisable from when we first got him. Looking WORLD CLASS these days.
