Remainder of the season should have a different purpose

394

Before he arrived at West Ham as a 22-year-old in the summer of 2019, Albian Ajeti had a steady progression from promising youth at St Gallen to scoring in the Champions League for Basel and leading the line for Switzerland in European Championship qualification.  31 goals from 52 league appearances across his final two seasons in Switzerland is the form that attracts EPL clubs.

We have seen better players than Albian suffer at the wrong club, so there’s every reason to believe West Ham fans have no idea what his genuine talents are (I felt a bit the same about Ismailia Soro until recently), but damage has been done to his repute, as well as his sharpness.

If you wanted to go somewhere in the summer of 2020 to repair your confidence and to enjoy your football again, Celtic Park did not turn out to be a wise choice.  Celtic quickly descended into crisis where even idolised Odsonne Edouard found form from previous seasons illusive.

With Odsonne in the final 18 months of his contract and zero chance of him extending, one of the tasks for the remainder of the season should be to repair what’s necessary for Albian and return him to his peak for the summer.

It has been decades since we have had as many games ahead without a genuine chance of winning the league.  These games now have a different purpose with preparing the squad for next season a top requirement.  Albian should play as many games as possible.

    VAR !

Who would be operating it ?

It would be a nightmare in Scotland …. it would be like back in the day at the schools footie waltzing around a few defenders only to be informed by an old bloke with sideburns that you were offside …. having beaten aforementioned defenders and not passed the ball yet … still rangles

  2. I think I can understand the point when people say we should make any complaints when we are winning because to do so from a position of strength would mean a greater chance of success.

In England (and any other countries with an unbiased Football Association),I would go along with that but Scotland? Celtic in Scotland?

That `greater chance` would maybe mean the relevant authority would look at the matter for five minutes before dismissing it as opposed to throwing it out immediately.

  4. ADI, I couldn’t agree more and Dom has one hell of a long journey ahead.

As soon as he takes the first step he will realise that he has the backing of a very large group of people.

I like the fact that he is a Celtic supporter and he will already understand what we have had to put up with.

I always live in hope and I have no reason to stop now.

We had nearly a decade to address the situation, but now we have someone new at the top.

If he does his job, then he will deserve a statue and he might just like the though of that.

I also think we should never mention the previous guy as he doesn’t deserve to be talked about in anyway.

Good or bad and that should be that.

He will be briefed about PL ( by PL probably).

If he is smart he needs to converse with the CST and see what is ‘outstanding’.

That should include Res11 & tge continual racism in Scottish football.

    But we will see.

Peter Lawwell is still an employee of CFC so anything he says re the sc##tish freemason association will be taken as us criticizing them and we could face the wrath of uefa.

I think this is absolutely correct. The media here is talentless but one thing they have refined into an art form is baiting Celtic. Even the most cast-iron case of injustice will be smeared on air and in print as Celtic ‘paranoia’.

What about referees Phillips(Wishaw) Callaghan ( Glasgow) and O’Donnell (Airdrie ) the nonsense they had to put up with.Hugh Phillips awards Celtic two penalties and in doing so,is nick named ‘Father Phillips.James Callaghan misses a ‘late tackle from Yogi on Johnston, huns complain,8 week ban.Kevin O’Donnell is demoted after a complaint from within Hezrts.Just three cases from 1965,1969 and 1987,yes folks Celtic F.C need to take a stand,if not, things may get even worse.

    Still Celtic

  13. Fritz, uefa cant punish you in any way unless you take the association to court.

Please dont pedal untruths and scare mongering.

They will ask you to resolve at CAS first and then if you take the association to court the whole association is banned from all UEFA competitions. All teams within said association.

  15. There is contact. Defenders seek an advantage through contact. If you make contact you had better make contact with the ball as well . No contact with the ball. No case to answer.

  16. Celtic sources say the Parkhead club are “astonished” by the ban and are planning an appeal which would see the Swiss frontman free to face Motherwell on Saturda

The place is rotten to the core and we get all we deserve for not addressing it in our what 133 years as a club. New club down the road 8 years old wouldn’t stand for it and got it sorted straight away.

He’s been offered a two game ban, which Celtic have declined. So since hearing is Monday he can play Saturday.

Of course the appeal will not be upheld and ban extended to the end of the season. That’s only fair😯

Imo, it is not just the Mibs that are biased. It’s the endemic racism in Scotland, which Scotland refuses to acknowledge, that is the core reason for the bias against us.
