As a consequence, Brendan faces an SFA disciplinary hearing. The difference between calling out poor performances – which we are all capable of, including Brendan – and asking for specific referees to be barred from your games is stark.
The SFA has reacted like this because it is weak. It has weak officials who make mistakes and it has weak administrators who are out of their depth. This is the environment Celtic have to do business in and whether you think it corrupt of just plain “poor”, it drags us down.

I had a look at the rules on handball which are complex and the best interpretation I could put in support of your opinion was that Iwata’s arm was in a natural position as a result of the nudge from Johnstone as I could find no specific reference the effect of being nudged by another player in same team or opposition..
If you found that specific reference to a nudge (or similar term) Beaton is toast but even if the one I discerned from the rules is used, Beaton is still toast but perhaps not burnt unless a referee of his experience is expected to use his noose but failed to on the occasion.
Both opinions reinforces my view that if Beaton and the ref got the second penalty wrong then BR’s use of the word incompetence to sum up his interview is totally justified. It is there to be seen. I doubt the charge of poor officiating against BR will stand up but I hope it is not dropped and Celtic go to town on Beaton and Robertson for both misapplying the rules.
