SFA: officials and administrators out of their depth

297

Don’t mention John Beaton’s name, apparently.  Referees and VARs are not open to scrutiny.  Brendan Rodgers did not say Beaton was corrupt, he did not say Sunday’s VAR was fond of celebrating at hostelries hostile to Celtic, he simply called out what he saw was “poor officiating”.

As a consequence, Brendan faces an SFA disciplinary hearing.  The difference between calling out poor performances – which we are all capable of, including Brendan – and asking for specific referees to be barred from your games is stark.

The SFA has reacted like this because it is weak.  It has weak officials who make mistakes and it has weak administrators who are out of their depth.  This is the environment Celtic have to do business in and whether you think it corrupt of just plain “poor”, it drags us down.

  1. We have been bullied out of games against Killie & Hearts this season…2nd half against Killie…it really was Men against wee bhoys

It’s because the huns recruit grown men and we literally have a policy of only buying wee boys to fatten up for the English market.

Because we are run to make money for shareholders first and foremost.

Meanwhile P6& will gas light you that this is the recipe for success, in Europe whilst the huns keep turning out results in Europe we can only dream of.

Still, hope Benfica’s horse them in the 2nd half.

  3. 100%. unless a player has blinding technical ability and is fast AF , the basic requirement in todays game should be athleticism / physicality. We are no where near it with this squad.

Sorry about coefficients and extra games but I can’t ever want them to win

We have beaten them twice already this season with better technical footballers.

our squads over the last decade or 2 just havent been put together for the challenges of euro football.

its been mentioned a squillion times, maybe more!

and it might seem a weird thing to say, though again it has been said often, a big part of that problem was 2012 and rangers dying

because we then spent years with the PLC just spending enough cash on players to beat aberdeen.

so as long as we had better wee boys than them then we were fine.

dont get me wrong, i celebrated everyone of those like it was the first or the last

but we have paid the price for it in europe over the last decade or so

where are the suttons thompsons lennons petrovs hartsons agathes etc etc that can look after themselves on the pitch in these games

if our long term signing policy was to beat aberdeen and then the latest incarnation from ibrox then it wasnt going to end well

Doesn’t say a lot for Bernardo if he can’t get a game for this Benfica team .

It also makes me wonder why they got rid of Jota when he’s miles better than any of their players on display here .

Player toiches ball past Lawrence and jumped into him. He expected a leg to fall over. Dive.

We have beaten them twice already this season with better technical footballers.

i dont think any of us would have thought we couldnt beat them.

but that makes it worse – we beaten them twice and are still behind in the league

so do our “better technical football players” just disappear against hearts and killie etc

To be fair, the BBC were quoting Alan Mutton – I don’t know what he was saying either

  13. GoldsoN scores an OG. 2-2

I said it before and i’ll say it again, how that man ever made it as a footballer i’ll never know.

    He’s a clone of Moshni.

  14. LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE on 7TH MARCH 2024 9:33 PM

Exactly. Would you swap the two wins against the currant buns to be top of the league and still in Europe?

  15. glendalystonsils on

Don’t know what Goldson was thinking …. he should have punched it clear if he couldn’t catch it .
