SFA: officials and administrators out of their depth

297

Don’t mention John Beaton’s name, apparently.  Referees and VARs are not open to scrutiny.  Brendan Rodgers did not say Beaton was corrupt, he did not say Sunday’s VAR was fond of celebrating at hostelries hostile to Celtic, he simply called out what he saw was “poor officiating”.

As a consequence, Brendan faces an SFA disciplinary hearing.  The difference between calling out poor performances – which we are all capable of, including Brendan – and asking for specific referees to be barred from your games is stark.

The SFA has reacted like this because it is weak.  It has weak officials who make mistakes and it has weak administrators who are out of their depth.  This is the environment Celtic have to do business in and whether you think it corrupt of just plain “poor”, it drags us down.

  1. Positive spin on zombie draw – they have another hard game next Thursday. No dead rubber to rest players.

What I saw of it they were poor enough.

    F them.

  2. Trying to look for positives if the huns go on and win the Europa league ( God forbid). Does that mean if they win the league as well ( please God forbid) that as runners up we would also qualify ?

  3. I know BBC Scotland is not the go to broadcaster for some on here, but, and I have mentioned this before, I’ve always been a fan of ‘The NIne’, which gives me a breadth of local, national and even international news, sport, culture, film etc with a variety of presenters and broadcasters. One of whom, from Wexford, a mainstay in recent years, (got stranded in Scotland during the Covid), has passed away at what can only be described as a young age…RIP Nick Sheridan

Another mainstay, this time of this Parish has sadly also left us. Thanks TBB for your fine tribute to Alex….

    RIP Eurochamp67

  4. I was a Student with Eurochamps – played in the same team. Last met at the Aberdour CQN a few years ago.

Thoughts and prayers with his family.

I see there is to be a public enquiry re the Emma Caldwell case ….well done …long overdue … so whilst we are in the mood for maximising justice and righting wrongs …let’s also have one for the flagrant misappropriation of taxpayers money (£52m) due to a fictitious witchunt that Salem would have been proud of !!?🤔

Abada away. Joins Juranovic, Giakoumakis, Starfelt, Jota, Mooy. Joe and Matt will leave in the summer, probably Hatate too.

Ange built that team having inherited a total and utter shambles. Dane Murray hasn’t played another first team game since those ECL qualifiers. More or less single handedly he brought much of the balance sheet profit we enjoy today – from bringing in players we quickly sell for huge profit and securing back to back access to ECL monies.

This season? Ange leaves and we’re back under the stewardship of the same duds that delivered the shambles he inherited in the first place. The same folk that handcuff us around a recruitment policy that is all about future trading profit not building a team. The same folk that wasted millions in duds like Ajeti, Barkas and now a load of players Rodgers doesn’t rate. Trading Bernabei in the current context speaks volumes. Literally none of the summer signings has convinced.

P67 tells us this is the only model if we want success. It’s such transparent garbage. We need a clear out of these duds and their ideas.

  8. Condolences to all on here that knew him ‘off the blog.’

Gent of a man by the sounds of it and a nice wee tribute.

As usual the Garda are lax at enforcing licensing laws in Ireland. I shall complain to the authorities. When I can stand up or sober up.

  10. I’m just in and noticed the confirmation of young Liel Abada’s departure. He is, and will be, a big loss to Celtic. His figures are very impressive. In 107 games covering the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League, he was directly involved in 46 goals – 29 scored and 17 assists.

    – how we could do with him right now.

He was only 19 when he arrived at Celtic and made his mark almost immediately.

His valedictory message was full of good things about Celtic, our management and the overwhelming numbers in our support. He contributed magnificently during his time and now brings us a transfer fee almost three times that which we paid for him. We would, I believe, have realised a future transfer fee in the tens of millions, like Jota, had he stayed for a few more years.

Thank you Liel, so sorry to see you leave. Good luck in what I hope will be a great football career.

Good luck also to Alexandro Bernabei – sorry it didn’t work out for you at Celtic.

  11. Scrap that. Apparently I have a wife, a job and responsibilities.

On your own. Think you’ve got this.

  12. Gutted to read about Eurochamps passing. Outstanding individual and the best example of what it means to be a Celtic supporter.

RIP and sincere condolences to his family and friends.

    Agreed. An absolute disgrace.

  14. Good morning all from a calm, dry, 3 degree Garngad.

Although I never met him he sounds like a good bhoy, God bless Eurochamps .

Rip fella and may the Lord look after your family at this time.

    🙏

  15. Interesting points raised on the behaviour of the SFA and related. I completely agree that we should pursue justice, with full vigour, through the appropriate channels. We must consider who, within the PLC, is best placed to drive this.

Equally, the manager and squad should be removed from this and must be allowed to concentrate on the football. We have two tropies to retain. No distractions.

Victories this season will taste all the sweeter.

  16. Any inquiry into the malicious prosecution of those who bought sevco will also have to include in its terms of reference the reasons why it was sold for a £1 coin in the first place and the people involved from DM down, I hope the Government has the moral backbone to do this properly with a senior judge outwith our borders appointed to do it, with nothing off limits.

  17. I haven’t read back yet.

I watched the BENFICA v HUNS game, and to be honest, the Huns deserved a Draw.

I think I predicted a couple of days ago on here that would get a favourable result against Benfica ?

So much so, that I had the CORRECT SCORE at the odds of 14/1 on Two Bookie lines.

I see that Hun Pundits are NOT happy with the Handball decision against SOUTTAR which led to the Penalty for Benfica.

Souttar had NO IDEA where the ball was.

I think some of those Hun Pundits were SO QUICK to AGREE with the Hearts Penalty decision against Celtic last week end.

    They don’t do IRONY.
