SFA prepare to suspend Rangers

634

Scottish FA chief executive, Stewart Regan, this evening announced that the Association would not appeal against the Court of Session decision to rule in Rangers favour over the 12 month player registration ban imposed by a Judicial Panel for not paying social taxes between May 2011 and February 2012.  Rangers didn’t pay social taxes in the period since February 2012, the period during which they launched their appeal.

I hear Rangers today served the ruling on the SFA and that the SFA have responded by informing the club that, under Fifa auspices, fresh proceedings will be raised against them for taking a civil court action, which will lead to a minimum punishment of Rangers being suspended from the Association.

The initial case will be referred back to the SFA Appellate Tribunal.  Regan reminded us that Rangers appeal to the civil courts broke two SFA Articles and five Fifa statues.  The tone and content of his statement demonstrated the frustration at the behaviour of the errant club.  He suggested the SFA would tell clubs [Rangers] that they must accept and abide by the Articles of Association at next week’s AGM.

While it appears the Association is about to get tough, they are in the middle of a problem of the making of the SFA and, in particular, Mr Doncaster of the SPL.  Here is the problem…

Rangers believe they are needed.  This belief is absolute and has been reinforced by the people running our game, the very same people who have been rag-dolled by Rangers in recent weeks.

The SPL waited almost three months for Rangers to respond to their demand for information into what is allegedly the biggest scam in British sporting history.  Despite this, throughout that time, the SPL chief executive campaigned vigorously for a Newco-Rangers to become the first club in Scottish football history to be parachuted into the top league.

It took the SPL 11 weeks to set a deadline.  No wonder Clark, Whitehouse and Green think they can play hardball.

During this time the SFA, who are the only body competent to investigate if Rangers illegally registered players across all domestic competitions, have taken no action.  The SFA president, who was an executive director of Rangers when they introduced the controversial EBTs and who received and EBT himself, has remained in position throughout.

Time for strong leadership, Mr Regan.  Mr Doncaster, there’s always a career in the law.

Suspension is as good as death, isn’t it?

After all, the league won’t play one short all season (will it??)

So when the suspension is over, where do they go? Start from the bottom? League reconstruction to let them back in?

  3. Adam,

I recall that statement about ‘ wasting money’ etc very well.

It certainly makes you think doesn’t it. Celtic never put them to a fraction of the costs that have been racked up by their cheating and yet all that has happened to them has been an insignifant ten point penalty!

The SFA “official” who made that comment was a certain George Peat, he said that he found Celtic`s complaints “tiresome”.

I`m sure you`ll remember him….a regular in the Directors Box at Ibrox, and a member of the SFA Transfer Committee that obstructed the registration of Jorge Cadete to Celtic.

  7. I reckon Dongcaster is hiding in a squat position at the bottom of a large wardrobe somewhere in a hidden corridor of Hampden…Narnia style…The Liar, The Snitch, in The Wardrobe…he’s probably been abducted by a goat…we’ll never get him oot noo…

  8. Tiny Tim – I’m with you mate. The Huns have been in admin for 107 days and despite all the talk and excitement they are still here stinking up the place.

I stand by my view that they will be alive and well in the SPL next season.

The SPL / SFA have had the evidence to kill them for weeks but have failed to pull the trigger.

Why? Because they are not going to pull the trigger.

  11. Paul . you my friend seem to be putting a lot of faith in the sfa . IMHO had the sfa followed the punishment schedule for the crimes committed the orcs would have been finished ages ago . It has been partly down to the sfa that this has gone on so long , they want them kept afloat with as minimal a punishment as is possible . Most of the decisions wrongly visited on our club have came from within that association . THEY ARE NO FRIEND OF CELTIC

I hope Lenny and all the players are having a good break. There will be some hard work to be done pre-season. If we have no rangers next season it will be a tough league and we’ll need to be very well prepared – not to mention qualification for the CL to worry about.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces, wishing good luck to the old ones and seeing those retained improving again.

Next season could be huge as well as historic. Here’s hoping! :)))

From his utterings tonight, Doncaster is obviously not too bright. He is also fixated on the the perception that the SPL need rangers. The mindset of such people is very hard to shift. He’ll plough on until the inevitable happens.

Regan is a different kettle o fish… I dunno, but I reckon he’s smarter. He’s playin the angles, non-committal. He wants to be seen as the consultant – has no real say in the outcome, thats up to the structures and tribunals he has put in place.

So the fighting fund has financed the huns own demise. That’s why Sally wants to know the names and addresses of all those who contributed.

And a word of consolation to those same sad huns…………..just think of it as putting a little something by for your funeral expenses.

  19. suspension?!!?

How about I suspend them from the Forth Road Bridge and…whoops…

Paul – Can I propose a Campbell Ogilvie Day? By that I mean a whole day in which this blog records only one line to be repeated by the many –

  20. OK, off topic I know, but I’m in a stylish bar in That London tonight. Turned round and there was Paz de la Huerta ( Lucy Danziger in Boardwalk Empire) I fainted and missed the opportunity to ask her if she was against Newco.

My take is the opposite. A colleague reminded me of the date I told him – March 26. In my opinion, there will be no Rangers next season, in any form. It’s not up to the cajones of the SPL, or SFA, or any individuals within (we would be right to doubt it if it were, but even then, FIFA’s involvement is a game-changer) it’s up to a business not being able to trade or be viably rescued. There are court cases to come up involving Collyer Bristow, Whyte, others. This is the story you won’t see or hear on msm. They are done. Nothing will convince me otherwise. Ex-huns, ceased to be.

This still isn’t clear to me. Can they play in the SPL without an SFA licence? In which case why would they care about expulsion from the SFA? It would basically just mean expulsion from the cup (which they are going to boycott anyway tee hee).

  25. Bongo Bongo is actually a popular alcoholic drink amongst clubbers in Zaire. I was with Steve Miller & had a couple of bottles in a Kinshasa nightclub, I then went all lycanthropic…I had hair growing out of my tongue/eyes rolling in eyes I started talking backwards…its called Bongo Bongo as it makes your head feel as though Phil Collins is jamming on it…by the way steve Miller & his band wrote a song about it, called funnily enough, Bongo Bongo- should be on YouTube. What a joker Stevie is…

If any money they get from player sales is being ring fenced for the CVA, how are they going to pay the bills….oh, sorry, they don’t do paying bills….

Tell you this, if they haven’t indeed been paying takes etc since 14 Feb, they really are finished …… HMRC cannot allow that to happen, AT ALL…
